If only the world was this awesome...

I'snt this the woman who played Irene in Sherlock? cos that would be in interesting Doctor

Or if the world was this awesome

Oh the terrible fanfiction this would create...

I'd love to see his idea of the Doctor

Chiwetel Ejiofor, looks likes hes got a pretty good chance actually

Paterson Joseph would make an epic doctor

TL:DR I'm hoping for someone who isn't a wacky youngish white dude, anything else is cool by me.

Never watched more than a couple Master episodes, but I have my vote on it being Radcliffe, especially since they've been calling the new doctor Houdini as a codename, and that's just... obvious. Also, a long shot.

Hmm, its pretty hard to take that any other way lol.

I've only really seen him in Supernatural, and while he started out a bit stale, he definitely was amazing later on.

    Not from the UK.

Edit: It could be a support role maybe I guess.

I use tumblr. If Misha Collins gets the job, I'll have to quit. Can't deal with that much Misha Collins.

One Mishapocalypse was bad enough, as enjoyable as it was. I couldn't handle years and years of Doctor Misha doing the rounds.

    Misha's fucking crazy.

But yeah. The new Doctor'll come out of the left field, I suspect. They'll need a strong and new personality to bolster the DW brand, not bring in an actor already associated with other franchises.

Yeah. Also, any actor who has already established themself is unlikely to want to commit to too long a run; they're filming for something like eight months of the year, then there's all the promotional stuff as well. It severely restricts what else you can act in - that's partly why they had the specials for Tennant's final year, so that he could do Hamlet. So yeah, a (relative) unknown is most likely.

That said, I did come up with a few fan-casts a while ago; of them all, I'd most like to see Julian Rhind-Tutt. He's even ginger for God's sake!

Confirmed male in Matt's interview clip.

    EDIT: ...or not...?

EDIT 2: ...they got Stephen Hawking to comment. What.

That was honestly unexpected, another Scot. Well, I can see him being quite like Eccleston just from seeing him in various other shows, his persona's often Eccleston in his much more serious/dark scenes so, best of luck to Peter.

Damn he has always reminded me of Frank Skinner now I will be unable to watch Dr Who without anticipating a ukulele solo.

Still can't wait for an older Doctor. Smith was pushing the Glee demo a bit too much for my liking.

Edit: He also played a W.H.O. doctor in WWZ so that's neat.

I have no idea who he is and not seen anything he has done. Anyway it will be different from the last three doctors.

I've spent most of the last day or so telling my parents that it won't be him, so I'm feeling a little silly now. Oh well.

The only thing I've seen him in is 'Fires of Pompeii', so I can't comment on his acting, but I like that they've gone for someone older. There was certainly something about him tonight that looked Doctor-ish, so that's something. Interesting choice, probably a good one.

He was brilliant in Torchwood: Children of Earth from what I remember of it.

He was amazing in Torchwood: Children of Earth. A really, really good choice and a nice change from Tennant and Smith.

Making the Doctor older is a good decision. Now we wait for a first photo of him in a costume to start guessing what kind of character he will have.

Excuse me while I go change my pants at how mind-blowingly awesome a sequence pitting John Hurt and Peter Capaldi against each other as their respective Doctors would be.

    Just.

    Holy shite.
