Skitter might consider trying to use Grue's darkness to retain some of doormaker's skills. Which would then destablizie one of the last things keeping her psyche together.

Or she could get Teacher to grant him a new Thinker power. Depending on how the fuelling of powers works, that could enable Doormaker to continue making doors.

Eh, I'm not convinced that you can refuel powers. I think that what was going on with Eidolon had been more of a mental block than the actual well running dry.

The entities that the capes draw their power from are finite. Very very large, but ultimately finite.

I think Eidolon's power was actually intrinsically linked to Eden, as it was the reason she believed the cycle would go off without a hitch still.

As it was going to be such a fundamental part of Eden, I could see her strength and Eidolon's being linked. Thus, as she was farmed for shards he was actually getting weaker he just never knew that instead of just drainng Eden, he could drain other powers as well. Ironically when Cauldron started feeding shards to Eidolon, he thought he was getting a power boost when he was just staying the same strength and would have been better to just create more capes.

An interesting thought about what Eden's avatars strength was is related to why Cauldons early capes were so overpowered, they first farmed the shards closest to her that she was intending to keep. Thus:

    • Eidolon - drains power and potentially creates Endbringers
    • Alexandria - incredibly high strength, invunerability, and flight
    • Doormaker - dimension travel
    • ??? - memory modifier that was used on Case 53's and in the perfect future by Eden
    • Mantullum - power nullifier (the one who was stopping Contessa and Custodian)
    • Hero - tinker powers
    • ??? - teleportation

It is interesting to think what the other original candidates power were that unfortunately died

So, loaded the thing on my mobile. Weirdly enough, the blog came with Thrusday's update as the latest (cached page or something). For a moment, I thought something to the effect of, Holy Shit, something bad's happened to Wildbow. And then I refreshed. Phew.

The problem with seeing things from Taylor's perspective is that I sometimes don't know what's going on, especially in this chapter where her mind is breaking down.

    It was still awesome though.

Fuckin' days of the week. Why are you so far apart?

"I couldn’t shake the feeling I’d somehow betrayed myself, and I wasn’t even sure who I was."

Took me a while to get this one. And wow, really ties the whole thing up so well.

I like how in the end humanities greatest strength was our ability to make people so miserable that they just give up on living. In the end he was bullied to death by a teenage girl. Thank God for high school.

Reading from Taylor's warped perspective is giving me a headache. I'm not sure if writing the climax of his massive story so incoherently was the best idea. I'm definitely hoping some of the epilogue chapters are other perspectives on what's going on in general towards the end.

Shadow Stalker is going to be insufferable to be around. While no one may thank Taylor, even if they wanted too, they can still thank her :D

Just wait and see Shadow stalker be smug about it. God I wish that fucking character is dead.

I nearly cried when Taylor was talking about how she'd thought she would retire to a quiet world and just live in peace, kind of a "ha ha no" from wildbow about us hoping for a happy ending for her.

This chapter was incredible. Pretty great closing arc.

I finally caught up again after re-reading everything, and I have to say I'm impressed with all the little bits of foreshadowing that came ages ago. When Dragon and Defiant are talking about the source of powers, "No. We should. I'm worried about the can of worms this opens up, but we should." Heh. Then there's "There's a sweet spot as far as rep goes. Having a pet Endbringer puts us in the 'too scary to be allowed to live' category." There are dozens of other examples, and it made me realize just how much of this had been decided from the beginning.

A few chapters back I felt like Imp was tainted somehow by Regent's power, like if his body died while he was controlling someone then his mind could survive in the other body. It was just a suspicion, but it seems almost a certainty later on. Imp's personality and vernacular are becoming increasingly similar to Regent's, and that seems the most likely explanation to me. Although given the most recent chapter, it seems like it's fairly unimportant given what's just happened.

I'd never thought about that actually(I was a fan of Regent) but it does make sense, although what Taylor and Lisa think might also be true, that she picked it up from Regents siblings.

I still like that in the end it was Imp who was sticking by Taylor, protecting her, kinda and Regent did have a soft spot for her so who knows.

Do you have any evidence that might suggest its regent?

    Aw crap.

Big spoiler. Read at own risk.

Here lies Taylor Herbert, Queen, warlord, slaver, liberator, friend. May she rest in peace.

Just... goddamn. A great ending; she committed the greatest crime against humanity in history... but in doing so stopped a greater one from occurring. She choose to keep control of herself in the end. Easily one of my favorite works of fiction, I just hope that the whole timeskip arc gets really cleaned up if Wildbow gets this published

I think its strange that Contessa uses two bullets. She only needs one to kill, so I'm a little suspicious.

Additionally, the tube the Simurgh had is strange.

Stuff I'd like to learn about:
    -Glaistig's background and her perspective.
-Origin of Endbringers answered once and for all.
