In which case, it's about as old as the internet itself.

Signatures are something present in almost every forum, DLP just seems to have more people who use quotes than other forums from what I've seen. Its not just cool lines either, some have links to useful tutorials or their ffn profiles which I find to be rather convenient. Also, try to use proper capitalisation if you can.

I love the quotes, many are useful, funny or just plain fun. If you don't to read it just skip them or disable them.

No, seriously, there's an option for that:

EDIT: Mother of Ninjas, that's what you get for missing actual number of pages in the thread.

Yeah, someone arranging to have an innocent animal killed, then gloating about it every day leading up to the execution (which he tries to sneak out of the school with his friends to WATCH with hand-wringing glee), is not something that most girls would find endearing. That's always been one of my big check marks on the 'Hermione would never date Draco' list; his racism, general penchant for cruelty, and callowness being other big reasons.

(That's not even bringing up that Dobby was known to have been treated like shit by the Malfoys, and we all know how much Hermione loves cruelty to house elves... and the fact that people have them in the first place. And, unlike in H/NM fics, where Narcissa was the only Malfoy to never mistreat an elf and only had sex with Lucius until she conceived an heir, Draco doesn't get any benefit of the doubt on the subject of elf abuse.)

I was under the firm impression that the usual modus operandi of D/Hr writers was to have Harry and Ron behave like rabid dogs the minute they find out about Hermione and Draco being an item, then follow up with having Hermione verbally abuse them for all of their many, many, faults, before leaving them in the dirt so she can go frolic* with her peroxide prince.
Thus, Harry and Ron being accepting of the 'relationship' is doubly foreign to me.

*And, by frolic, I mean that she'll be bound, gagged, and suspended from the ceiling of his fully kitted-out Little Tikes My First Rape Dungeon play-set, since he's no doubt also a teenaged expert in not only so-called 'vanilla' sex, but also the dark and subtle intricacies of BD/SM. :puke:

Must have been practicing with all those girlfriends that- Oh, wait, he didn't have any of those because he was a repellent little shit, day in and day out.

But Nott doesn't look like a half-drowned, half-starved, refugee from a Lebensborn propaganda poster, with those Aryan good looks that all the mudbloods wet their knickers for.

I mean, really... he wasn't even in the movies. You can't expect the reader to tickle their 'little man in the boat' for someone they have to actually use their imagination to visualize! Pffft. What's that shit? :p

Indeed, Dick Dastardly and Snidely Whiplash probably had higher success rates.

When I see characters referred to as 'parseltongues', my blood boils.

Less popular, but still annoyingly prevalent: when I see 'prophesy' used as a noun.

    Oh for fuck's sake.

Everything about prophecies tends to get on my nerves. Especially if it's an ancient prophecy that when translated has perfect rhymes or is in iambic tetrameter or something.

    Prophecies. I like trivializing them.

You want callousness. Callow means 'young' (from calu meaning hairless).

Callow is also used as a synonym for immature and bratty, which works perfectly as used by Warlocke. Callousness had already been covered under 'penchant for cruelty.'

If you're going to correct someone, make sure they're actually incorrect.

Egotistical authors of bad stories in general. They flip right the fuck out at the slightest bit of criticism, and I find their responses more entertaining than their stories. Gets especially amusing when a lot of reviews are subtle about the criticism but the author doesn't realise.

It's worse when it's isn't even the author, just one of his rabid fans.

Yeah... I've received a few of those. Sometimes from the author, sometimes from the author's friends. In that particular case, I was really really careful to be polite and constructive, since the author seemed to be pretty young.

Even so, I apparently almost made her stop writing. xD

Really, if you did were like you said. and she almost stopped, it wouldbe better if she stopped. Because it only gets worse and more personal, a thin skin simply won't do. But it's good you get hurt by someone criticism, it shows you care about your work. When I read something I didn't like, I avoided commenting, because I used to be brutal, and sometimes (more than a few) I was wrong.

But one of my hige pet peeves is the author bitching about critques. If it didn't help, fuck it.
