Unfortunately, a lot of the info on the wiki is from the novels and short stories. Said info is prone to retcons.

I've watched all of Series/Season 1 with the girlfriend as well as New Earth from S02. which means all that blank space is so fucking tempting. I've got a bit of a confusion though.

The Ninth Doctor was super fucking awesome and while I've never talked to DLPer Whovians about Doctor Who, my general exposure to fans is that 10 and 11 are liked so much more. I've seen clips of both and a few episodes with 10 and I honestly will be shocked if 10 or 11 live up to the Ninth Doctor's awesomeness. So why isn't there more love for him? Or do DLPers see the light :p

I only watched a few of the ninth before taking a break and eventually starting in with Matt Smith but I loved the ninth's doctor. Unfortunately I hated Rose so....

Probably a matter of exposure. Ecclestone was only around for one season and it was the opening one at that, so there were a few flaws in the plot, characters, etc. that stood out when compared to Tennant's tour as Doctor.

It must also be noted that Ecclestone isn't as pretty as Tennant, at least.

Because he only got 13 episodes.

Nine was a brilliant Doctor, absolutely fantastic, but he only had one series to work with and the writing was all over the place. He had the amazing dark horror of Dalek and The Empty Child, but also the childish burping dustbin in Rose and the fart jokes in Aliens of London. The writers were still trying out everything to see what worked and what didn't, they didn't quite know who their audience were yet.

Ten and Eleven stayed longer and had more stories to work with. A lot of them are also better stories than in the first series. The writers knew who they were writing for and found their groove. The stories were still all completely different, but now they all felt like they were part of the same show. It's a real shame that Chris didn't stay for a second series, because the Ninth Doctor could have been incredible in The Satan Pit or Doomsday.

And yeah, it doesn't hurt that David Tennant and Matt Smith are both younger, more attractive and blessed with the power to soak a fangirl's panties at will.

So now that Galifrey is back on the table what kind of things would you like to see from that branch of the story?

I would like to learn more about the TARDIS(es). See the divergence(they would make an excellent series antagonist) and probably Omega and the Other although it seems both have been overdone in the books.

I want at least two series of the Twelfth Doctor searching for Gallifrey, trying to work out how he can safely pull it back into this universe without just reigniting the Time War. I want the epic conclusion to this arc to feature Timothy Dalton as Rassilon. And once it's complete and Gallifrey is back, I desperately want to not get bogged down by all the bullshit that made it necessary to ditch the Time Lords in the first place.

Keep them in the background. Have them be an occasional limiting factor to the Doctor. For the love of God, don't make him President or have a 14 episode long trial.

I really don't want them to be in the background too much but still not be over exposed unless they want to go ahead with the cartmel plan then the doctor will still retain his mystery.

But I do want to see a season's threat be about something else other than humans. We should get the doctor saving galifreyan's now and one of the big bads threatening a weakened galifrey. Just no more humans.

So...here's the cover of the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine:

Found it on Tumblr, checked the official twitter; seems legit. That said, when series six was about to start, they had covers saying one of the cast was going to die, so make of that what you will.

Time Lords have 13 regenerations and as of Day of the Doctor, ,Matt Smith is the 13th regeneration and he's going to die at Trenzelore.

Yet the next Doctor did turn up to take that picture of Gallifrey, so there's going to be some shenanigans that lets the series continue after his scheduled last death.

Is there any actual confirmation on him being the 13th? I've seen articles floating about but nothing I'd call a legitimate source.

There's the eleven doctors, the war doctor and I think the Valeyard* is counted as the other one. Makes Matt Smith the thirteenth.

*Not sure about this, I haven't actually watched the parts of the show with him in it

The closest thing to confirmation (as far as I know) is the cover of the magazine, but like I said, Moffat.

i thought the confirmation was that the eleventh was actually the twelfth and the new one is going to be thirteenth.

The Valeyard was never a Doctor but a byproduct of the Doctor's last regeneration.

I read that Moffat's logic is that the Tenth Doctor used up a regeneration in Journey's End when he interrupts the regeneration process by using the severed hand. That plus the War Doctor would actually make the Eleventh doctor the Thirteenth Doctor(in terms of number of regenerations not number of Doctors).

    Link.

This makes sense since while Tenth didn't change his appearance he used one regeneration to heal himself (and make his clone). But I was expecting them to ignore it and make a central part of Capaldi's stay on the show the fact that he is the Last Doctor.
