There is also, of course, Neon Genesis Silmarillion, which is in the library already but I'll post it here for completion's sake.

It's a fusion of Eva and Lord of the Rings, with the backstory heavily influenced by Middle Earth's history. It's also written by the guy who did Children of an Elder God, so keep that in mind before reading. Also long. Very fucking long.

Just for the record your link to this fic:

"Changing Seasons - Now this is an interesting thing. It's a Peggy Sue fic, but a little different Peggy Sue fic. This time instead os the usual cast of peggy-suers from Evangelion (i.e. Shinji, Asuka, Rei, Misato, Pen-Pen, etc.), you got the most dysfunctional person that could be sent over - Gendo Motherfucking Ikari. Read about his awesome adventures as he tries to untangle his web of conspiracies, intrigue and mindfuckery he weaved. Also, it apperas that he is haunted by a spirit from the End of Evangelion."

Has the same title, but otherwise has no connection to the summary. Or if it does it takes more than 17 chapters to get to the point where you see basically anything it mentions. It is a decent romance fic about Shinji/Hikari though.

Ups, my mistake. Had too many fics opened in one window, and did not look properly through them when posting links.

Anyway, here is the proper link - Taking Sights

Read Taking Sights a few times. Love it. It doesn't really go out of its way to redeem Gendo (despite him trying to do slightly better for everyone else) and he's still portrayed as a first class arsehole with crimes against humanity.

This is a pretty interesting, if still very short, HTTYD fic. If the quality holds, I will put it up for review when its finished or doubles its wordcount.

Edit: basic premise is that Toothless did not lose a tailfin when he was shot down.

    Um... gesundheit?

To expand on that a bit, when you're talking about relatively obscure fandoms, can you make the (miniscule) effort to actually write the full name. I don't think I'm alone in not particularly enjoying being forced to play the acronym-guessing game all the time.

Its not a miniscule effort when I am using my phone, and if the fandom interested you you would recognize the acronym.

Just I wont post this empty handed, I will leave here the profile of a guy with almost two pages if awesome HTTYD/Brave crossovers, some short and some long.
Some are connected, so watch out for that.

Mass Effect: The First War by ProfFartBurger (yeah I know)
Summary: The Prothean Ruins weren't. They contained little more than mentionings of an Alien Society; as a result, humanity develops on a completely different path than what was intended, and when first contact is made not with the Turians, but a desperate, destitute race viewed as beggars and thieves, how will this dying race change Humanity? And how will Humanity change the Galaxy?

I don't know why I love this story so much. Chris McGraw (one of the main characters) is the epitome of a Gary-stu. Humanity itself is a Gary-stu.

That said...it is one of the stories I look forward to most. The author appeals to my "Human Pride."

The writing is solid and the story line is decent. The Author is already working on the sequel that really introduces us to Shephard (And he has explicitly stated that it will never be a rehash of Canon). Apparently he plans for a solid four stories to grow out of this AU.

Anyways...I wish this story avoided such cliches and could be put up for review, but as it stands it is an amazing guilty pleasure.

I really liked the first version of this fic.

Then he scrubbed it and released a new version, which I wasn't a big fan of.

Now he's apparently publishing a 3rd version which I haven't bothered to read.

That said, the initial version of NGS was extremely good.

Nice. I checked this author out and read Through the Storm We Reach the Shore. It's very, very good. Definitely Library material by my standards, but I'm too lazy to make threads and "sell" fics to you guys. Just read it. Good characterization, good dialogue, good (if predictable) romance. Solid 4 out of 5 in my book.

I thought so, too. The obscurity of the fandom and the fact that DLP is not big on Romance held me back.

I'm big on romance. For instance I like Hiccup/Elsa. ;)

I'll go get Brave and watch it before I read it. On a bit of a Frozen run atm.

    Alternatively, don't watch Brave. I haven't.

In fact, seeing Merida as she is in the movie ruined the image of Merida I had made in mind from reading fics :p

You know you're a fanfic snob when you refuse to watch the source material because there is no way in hell it can be as good as the fandom.

    Except in the Naruto fandom.

I'd say the Twilight fandom too, but I've never run across a good Twilight fic.

I would wager that the only possible good Twilight fic, would be a kill-off fic. With original Bram Stokers Count Dracula doing the honors, while pissed at being mocked.
