Each to his own I guess, I just find the realism refreshing from other fantasy works.

Ser Davos is a pretty genuinely good guy, and I always like to see him succeed, so there's that.

Ser Davos is a treasonous asshole and a sentimental fool that denies the truth from his own eyes because he is too weak to even contemplate the notion that the world works according to rules that stand beyond his own moral disgust. By rights Stannis should have had his head and yet this upjumped commoner is beloved by all.

If Davos is a noble then my balls are heir to Casterly Rock. They can probably read better than him too tbh.

You know, to become a nobleman it only takes a king to make you one. Time will do the rest.

And in the Middle Ages (especially in the Early and High period, although ASoIaF world is closer to the Late period) it wasn't that uncomon for a nobleman to be illiterate. For example, Holy Roman Emperor Barbarossa didn't know how to read and write. Or use fork.

Scrib I'm honestly confused by the Davos hate, hes a pretty mild guy overall. Though I am impressed by your testicle's literacy skills.

Jaime struggled with reading when he was heir of Casterly Rock, so I think your balls could probably read better than him too.

It's the fandom polarizing things. I have my problems with Davos but I don't really hate-hate him.I can definitely read him without any rage. However you join any fandom and one thing you dislike is getting a ton of praise you tend to seem radical by comparison especially if you adjust your tone accordingly. As for the specifics: see above, or a few pages before that.Dude makes decisions that he shouldn't be making because he's too scared of the alternative (he's wrong and there is some magical god that likes shish-kebabed human).

IMO He gets a lot of love because his fans (and most of the readers) are the W.E.I.R.D. contingent, who find it abhorrent that religious fanaticism (and this is the really weird one; I've seen people slam Melisandre for being a fanatic -as if that is not the only rational reaction to seeing the end of the world) or someone being burned alive would ever be justifiable. And since this is a fantasy story (if a horrible one), we can accept Davos' actions as right because that's what heroes do in stories.

I sometimes suspect that it's that same sort of mentality that let people empathise with Robb and his idiotic decisions. He's doing the "right" thing as defined by the thousand series that have come before GoT.
Jaime struggled as a child. Besides, I was just looking for the easy joke. He did look a bit adorable trying to tell why there was a g in "night" :p

Excellent. Sounds like someone told Littlefinger to relax with the Batman voice

    Arya Stark is a boss.

    So is the Hound.

Can we just have a show about them bantering around and causing havoc?

The last part of that episode came straght out of a spaghetti western.

Arya, the Hound, and surprisingly, Oberyn, were the only really entertaining parts of the new episode.

New Daario Naharis is much more like I pictured sans blue beard. Not very charismatic though.

Thenns were creepy vs the books. Although... it is Westeros, So I guess they really are more like the people south of the Wall compared to the other Wildlings.

It's a good episode. Tywin looks menacing as always. Oberyn is extremely well casted and I think the introduction to his character and motivations, though direct, was good. Jaime was great too, especially the scene with Joffrey.

And of course: What the fuck's a lommy?

I see Arya continues her undefeated streak of being a creepy kid and having incredible chemistry with whoever she's partnered up with.
