I really don't think mods should be banned from playing. Just a Gentlemen's agreement that they don't use mod powers (locking thread etc.) or have a vote in any mod decisions that concern a game they are/were a participant in. Easy.

    ^Agree 100%.

    Wrong thread indeed, Riley.
I'd support you being a mod since I've seen you run games and know you're good at it, however, are you really not going to play anymore?
You did great in B&T and we're not exactly overflowing with competent players in the site. Look how long it takes to get a replacement.

At least not for the near future/foreseeable future to be honest.

I'd also like to point out that I'm a daily active user and have been on this site since 2007.

If we do want to go the route of having a Moderator that removes himself/herself from the player list for the foreseeable future, I'd be willing to do so.

If everyone feels Fonti is a better choice, than I'll heartily agree as she has way more experience with Mafia than me.

However I'm really just suggesting an extra Moderator for actual Site Modding duties such as closing threads for day/night phases and keeping the queue updated, amongst other Non-playing related duties.

Ok, so this is starting to get irritating. Titus is basically absent from her own game, I've yet to see Zeit log on in a while and Lexi is the only mod left.

If any other mod reads this, the following things need to occur:

    1) Survivor and B&T Mafia need to be removed from the in-progress list here

    2) WIFOM needs to be moved to the active games list in the same post.
2a) Find out what Lexi's doing about Choose Your Side. If it's not going to happen (which is what I was told) then it needs to be moved to the bottom of the list or removed depending on Lexi's desires.
2b) AYAW2 needs to be moved up to Accepting Sign-ups
2c) Find out if Zeit is still planning to run Star Wars.

    3) Someone needs to poke Titus and find out what's going on and if she wants us to continue playing WIFOM.

    4) We need a firm decision on sub-forum mods playing. if they aren't then we need to look into potentially replacing them with active users so that this kind of stagnation doesn't happen. By active, I mean, makes a post at least once a day in the Little Italy forum, or something similar, as well as semi-regularly logging onto IRC for real-time Q&A.

    5) Look into recruiting new players potentially, maybe a semi-regular "New players" game once we have enough incoming.

    6) Seriously though, my main focus is on gaining active Sub-forum Mods so we don't have to keep bothering full board mods and admins for assistance.

    Any other suggestions?

There's been several new rules being tossed around, one of which I feel strongly for is a minimum amount of posts per 24 hour period.

    Also, #RileyforMod.
    You have my axe, sir.

At this point I honestly don't give a damn who does it, as long as someone does. Because the longer it's left like this, the more it stagnates and the less people want to visit this little sub-forum.

This rule is a terrible idea. Just lynch lurkers if you feel so strongly about it.

It wastes time and distracts Town when they could be looking at actual resources, and its hard to read without data.

Look, you can't just call a rule a terrible idea and leave it at that. If the majority decides not to go for it, fine, but we should at least talk about it.

If town are lurking then it's bad town play and they should have to deal with it. If scum are lurking you lynch them and win. You can't just change rules to make the game easier for town.

Except it happens too often, Bill. Scum can hide among the lurkers because sometimes almost half the players don't contribute.

It's all well and good that they have to 'deal with it' except that the consequences affect the rest of Town because we waste a lynch on them. That makes the game harder for Town.

If we all post regularly (required to or whatever), then the game's not easier for Town, it's on even ground.
Same if we all lurk, but you can see where the problem would be on that.

If town play badly it makes the game harder for town. No shit...

If everyone posts a lot it does make the game easier for town, that's not in question.

post per day rules are something I'd leave to individul game runners. Thus, the players can choose whether or not to play or lurk at their own risk. I've always been that way though.

I've been thinking, should we have a rule to prevent perpetual lurkers from signing up for games? Like, Rents always signs up for games, then barely posts. He's been warned numerous times and this behavior keeps recurring.

Lurking as a strategy for games is different, but there should be a required post count. I agree with Riley, it can be decided by the game master, but being replaced for not posting (without a good excuse) should have some consequences.

Perhaps a three strikes system (WHICH WOULD REQUIRE A FAIRLY ACTIVE MOD TEAM) could be implemented if we have the resources.

    That's a good compromise.

I think we should look into maybe more than one addition to the modteam--Fonti was also seemed interested and that way there's always moer than one mod around to debate decisions, even if two vanish.

No clue and honestly, it's their lives and their problems. However whatever's happening is bleeding over a bit into this and I would like to try and minimize that somehow. I'm open to suggestions.

Riley and Fonti becoming mods seems like a good idea.

Zeit and Lexi are awesome and I really hope their RL stuff is good or getting there.

Players signing up for games should request some minimum post count.

As a really bad scum player, the moment I speak even in the IRC thing its clear if I'm scum so having a minimum post count would probably help scum get better at you know bsing\etc.

I'm assuming that there isn't a normal setup with no day\night kills the first cycle? That would be kind of fun. I think I got sucked into mafia only reading the first day posts that are more fun and stuff before it gets all intense.

Could we maybe pm one of the site's mods (Jon, Wizard, etc.) and ask them to intervene to elevate you (and Fonti) into mod status?

The strongest info we usually get from D1 comes to play on D2 when we see who died and compare interactions. Having NL and no NK seems like it'd be wasted time.
