To make this idea work, we need to change Rowenas definition of "superior intellect" and how to measure it. Instead of some vague terms, IQ points, or really anything, have it be defined by the individuals capacity to learn, understand and create multifaceted magical and mundane experiences. Make those Mind Purists more like Sensates from Planescape setting. A group thinking that enlightment can be achieved by cummulating experiences.

So, whats the conflict? "Why, I experienced more in this life, than you, and I have a greater knwoledge than you therfore I'm better than you. So, be a good slave and go plow my fields for me".

    --- --- ---

And after writting this down, I have an urge to find this plot idea I had, for Harry in Planescape setting, surviving, living as plane-traveling merchant, always seeking way to his home First Material Plane.

    Hello
This is my first post and I really hope that I'm posting it in the right place.

Since I have found the thread for various plot bunnies I will share a plot I've been thinking of for a long time.

During the battle of Hogwarts it always seemed strange that everything turned out allright. What were the odds that Harry met Snape in the exact right moment and got the information he needed to know so he would go out in the forest and face Voldemort. According to Dumbledore it was imperative that Harry did not fight back in order for the Horrocrux to be killed instead of Harry.

What would have happened if Snape had died a few seconds sooner and thus could never give the memories to Harry. Harry doesn't have a reason to face Voldemort in the forest and then the battle picks up again. Harry meet Voldemort and defend himself which only causes him to win the elder wand (as he was its true master).

I imagine that the battle would be pretty much lost after that and Harry and co escapes Hogwarts, causing the wizarding world to fall under Voldemort's control even more.

It interests me where the story could go from there. What would Voldemort do when he has control over UK? What would he do about the fact that he is down several horrocruxes? How would Harry and co go about killing Nagini now? How would they learn that Harry is a Horrocrux?

I always though that the great war against Voldemort was reduced to camping and the single battle in the end so this would be an opportunity to have more death and violence and explore the more destructive side of magic.

For me it always seemed like a lot of Dumbledore's plan hinged on really lucky circumstances (that Snape happened to overhear their location in the forest so he could give them the sword and last minutes instructions from Snape). It's like something is bound to go wrong.

I have never really seen a fic with this approach and wonder if anyone can spot a plothole in my reasoning.

What I'm interested in is why do you spell Horcruxes as 'Horrocruxes'.

On the bunny itself, I would also like to see Voldemort win.

As Grey Wardens say: in death, sacrifice.

Bunny: Harry is a horcrux and dies in the forest. Only Nagini's left. Whatever will they do? Basically, take Neville's big scene from the last movie before Harry tries to blast the snake to pieces and take out the 'surprise, Harry's not dead!' part. The battle rages on. Will the good guys prevail? Will Voldemort steamroll them?

Could work as a long one-shot of the battle. Show how the bad guys methodically, mercilessly take out the remaining resistance.

Insert plot device! Arcane stuff happens, turns the tables on Voldemort, but for a price that Neville(?) must pay.

Very generic, but there you go.

Didn't notice I wrote Horrocruxes instead of horcruxes. I think I must have gotten it from the swedish translation.
And I wonder if it would have been possibly to kill Nagini. If we disregard the movies, which I usually do, then Nagini should still be in that protective magic sphere and most certainly not in a place where someone like Neville could cut of her head.

That doesn't seem too bad. At least it resembles original word. They are called "Viteály" in Czech version :facepalm. I don't like translated versions of canon.

It should've been possible. Voldemort would use that sphere to protect all of his Horcruxes, not just Nagini, if it weren't.

EDIT: Maybe that sphere has similar function to protective spells on normal Horcruxes, with the same weaknesses to basilisk venom, fiendfyre, etc.

Or possibly the sphere could be broken by some specific spell someone like Dumbledore or Flitwick would know about.

About fiendfire and basilisk venom I think those were methods of destroying the Horcrux and not the protective enchantments around it (even if I think that Fiendfire would destroy most things). Voldemort created the protection sphere for a reason and I thought it must have been similar to the protection on the locket in the cave; basilisk venom or fiendfire wouldn't have helped to get through that piece of protection.

    New Plot Bunny:

What if Tom Marvolo Riddle was deaf?

Bonus points if he can communicate with snakes despite this disadvantage.

What kind of person would he grow up to be? Would he still go to Slytherin (still a strong possibility)? How would he act around the orphanage? How would he do at Hogwarts?

Would he still become the Dark Lord we all know?

Plot bunny where the "lost" Fabergé eggs are really powerful magical objects with unique powers. That's all I have, but there's potential for awesome.

Tom stared at the gold-framed mirror with interest. He'd read about it in one of the books from the Restricted Section. The Mirror of Desire. It seemed as ancient as it was powerful - because, really, what greater power was there than knowing other people's deepest desires? Oh, how he would love to have it for himself one day! The Imperius Curse was not without its merits, but it had obvious limitations. Tom couldn't think of a beter way to command others' loyalty than granting them a promise of what they wanted most. History taught that while ruling through fear was effective in the short run, it was unlikely to last.

The Mirror was rumored to even reach beyond the boundaries of time to fulfill its purpose. Sometimes it showed the past - loved ones of those who had lost them - and sometimes, it showed the showed the future. Merlin supposedly looked into it and waited years for his greatest desire to be realized, but in the end, the Mirror had not lied.

Tom approached the old artifact slowly, head slightly bowed. Such magic demanded respect. Finally, he looked up and into the Mirror. For a long moment, he only saw his reflection - himself in the vast, empty chamber. But then his reflection rippled and suddenly he looked older. Then his mirror-self reached to his ear and pointed to a small trinket above it. Tom's expression hardened. It wasn't any magical device, that much he was sure of. No, it looked like some muggle thing.

Tom gritted his teeth and turned on his heel before stalking out of the room. Stupid Mirror. It must not be the real one, he concluded. It had to be some poor copy. Why else would it show him something like that? He expected to see himself as the Minister of Magic, or in some other position of power. He was determined to show all those smug purebloods that his disability did not make him inferior. And surely, in the future, wizards would find a way, a potion or a spell, to restore hearing.

In the dark chamber, mirror-Tom sighed internally. He didn't even get the chance to show the kid how long he would have to wait until muggles invented the cochlear implant.

The Malfoy's were in Diagon Alley when they saw Professor McGonagall escorting a family around. Wide eyes taking everything in, clothing that clearly did not fit in, they were muggles with a first-generation magical. Lucius' wife caught his eye, and they moved in, regal and genteel.

The Professor's eyes tightened with exasperation as the two Malfoy's artfully pointed out things of interest in the magical world, Narcissa fawning over the young girl, talking hair and glamors. Her bushy hair could use some work he mused, but that was all his wife's angle. He perked up at the Dr. Granger's comment... "...not many friends her age. She's so eager to please, but often runs roughshod if she thinks that she has all the answers. I hope she'll be alright."

Call it inspiration, call it insight, but in a moment, Lucius knew what to do. "I may have something to help with that," he said carefully. His eyes flicked over the large bag of books that the family carried. "I have in my possession a one of a kind book. It's quite captivating, and was written by a muggleborn that grew very passionate about our culture. He compiled his memories in one of his later years. It may be beneficial for your daughter to explore this book."

The Doctor's face relaxed. "Would you? She has so many questions. I would hate for her to offend someone." Lucius nodded.

"We do have touchy elements to our society. I'll send an owl with it."

Yeah, McGonagall is not going to buy into this charade. I'm predicting Dumbledore will get his hands on the Diary quite soon.

I thought that having a bloodline user in his ancestry for Naruto would be interesting. Like for instance, his great-great-great-great-great or so Grandfather had the Dead Bone Pulse and the gene remained dormant throughout his children, grandchildren and so forth until it re-emerges in Naruto.

I thought it would be interesting seeing as Naruto prefers to fight in close range and if I remember correctly users of the Dead Bone Pulse were said to be the ultimate Taijutsu users in canon.

I'd love to see a story where every single witch and wizard was born an Animagus, they just had to work at it to acheive the transformation. In fact, you could add in the story of Morgan Le Fay and Merlin -- the Knights watching their duel lost track of who was who at one point, such was the speed of their display, and it was so impressive that future wizards have sought to replicate their skill.

Most wizards are unable to do much more than shift into a beast -- mindless at first, becoming easier to control with experience. A rare few are capable of becoming magical beasts -- Gryffindor, for example, worked extremely hard to become a Griffin -- and one in five wizards can become more than one animal. People like Dumbledore and Voldemort, however, have progressed to the point that they can Transfigure their bodies into seemingly inanimate objects (plants, as well as books, cabinets, suits of armor, etc.) at will.

1st year Harry struggles, but by the time he solves the riddle of the Philosopher's stone, he's able to transform into an ashwinder and get through the fire (without Hermione's help). Dementors knock him off his broom in second year, but he's able to turn into a falcon and guide himself to the ground, as the effect on him is dimmed by the animagus transformation.

The dueling club in 2nd year would be their first chance to fight "Merlin" style.

This is just a small thought, rather than a plot bunny.

Indian!Harry. For some reason, the Dursleys aren't an option (maybe Petunia died, who cares) and the blood protection isn't available to Harry.

Instead, Dumbledore arranges for Harry to be raised by one of his many friends (some OC wizard or witch) in India!

I feel that not counting Japan (sometimes), Asia is woefully underrepresented in HP fan fiction.

Could possibly also feature Harry/Parvati or Harry/Padma, but it isn't a requirement.

I remember reading a fic that had Harry adopted by an Indian family. I don't think they lived in India and iirc Harry went to Beauxbatons under a different name. The Dursleys also abused him when he live with them and that's pretty much it, the story went nowhere.
