I just got done watching the latest episode and my oh my, what do you know? Filler.

Ah, I'm expecting too much, I know, for good stuff to happen in every episode, but why oh why are they whitewashing Cersei so fucking much?

"I was shocked" she said in response to what Joffrey did, as though she had no hand in some of those things. In the words of Tormund, I only say "HAR!" to that pile of shit.

I honestly loathe this character change. They twist up characters that came to be quite likeable in the books (Jaime and Stannis come to mind as the most obvious of examples), but do the opposite with characters that truly deserve the audience's/readers' dislike.

This is what Cersei is like in AFFC (those who haven't read it yet, don't bother looking at the spoiler):

Arm the Faith, that will get them out of our hair
Gods, I'm so smart, I shoulda been a man
Tell the Iron Bank to suck a dick, we'll pay them when we feel like it
I'm so good at this, like Tywin with teats

I fear that they will shirk away from this, her character will be only motivated by a mother's love and that's so pure and pristine, every parent would have done the same, right? Except not really, she's just fucked up.

You did catch who Cersei was talking to this episode right?

She talked to Margaery Tyrell, whose father is a judge in the trial.
She talked to her father, who is a judge in the trial.
She talked to Oberyn Martell, who is a judge in the trial.

The reason they "whitewashed" her character and made her so reasonable is that she's trying to get the judges on her side so they'll convict Tyrion of the murder.

It wasn't whitewashing, it was manipulation. Don't worry, she's still a fucking psycho.

Hmm, good point there concerning the three judges.

But I was talking more in general, even before these episodes. Then again... we only start to know what a psycho she is in AFFC and I guess I'm just rushing ahead of myself with these expectations since they went around and about some of the events from the books that didn't shouldn't exactly happen in the show, not just yet.

In the end, I guess we have to wait and see what the forthcoming episodes will bring about.

But now they will excuse her stupidity for not wanting to pay the Iron Bank with what Tywin revealed this episode. That sort of thing could count as whitewashing, I suppose, because it's not Cersei being impulsive at all when she has 'good reasons' for refusing to pay the debts.

Oh and someone asked this on the previous page:

As an aside, was that an admission that Sweet Robin isn't Jon Arryn's child?

And the answer to that is a solid no. Lysa is most likely referencing the fact that she had once before been pregnant with his child, before her father had her abort it, back when he was still a ward in their home, and Catelyn got betrothed to Brandon Stark.

And on another note, is it just my imagination or have they changed the Eyrie?

    Catelyn approaching.
    Baelish approaching.

It's your imagination. Catelyn's approach is from closer to the base of the mountain - Baelish's approach looks to be the Moon Gate, but I could be wrong.

The thing that cracks me up is that Locke will be remembered as a hero who died for the Night's Watch, fighting mutineers, instead of a scumbag, since Bran(whose storyline I give less than a shit about) fucked off and is continuing north without telling anyone.

This is why I hate that they cut out Coldhands. If he was part of their group at least it would add a little more interest to Bran's storyline.

It's just I don't see the point of Bran. In some GoT fanfics I've read they have Daenerys coming to Westeros and the White Walkers get nuked by dragon fire.

Bran is going up north to do...what? 3 eyed raven who cares? It's just that so much of the show has focused on the wildlings, the Dothraki, Daenerys, Robb Stark, Littlefinger, Tyrion, and everybody fucking else, that Bran comes off at least to me as a who cares.

And the closing battle with Jon Snow made the episode for me.

Bran'll probably have some important visions, tell someone who matters, and then he'll die in the final book to bake some last minute angstcookies.

That, or he'll be one of the only ones to survive. Potentially hooked up to a tree for another hundred years, or longer in the minds of ravens, etc.

And this my friends is the advantage of books. Bran will no doubt have some role to play in the apocalyptic final battle thus necessitating his inclusion in the show, but as for everything in between it really isnt necessary.

Personally, I couldn't care less about Bran, or even the storyline involving the Others. I'm firmly convinced that GRRM lost the thread a couple of books ago, and his writing-woes stem from him having written himself into a corner. Over the course of five doorstopper novels, we've seen the Others just twice, while countless pages have been devoted to political intrigue. If the focus were to shift strongly to some supernatural war, it's going to seem like much of the preceding action was utterly pointless to the plot. Perhaps some die-hard fans will delude themselves into thinking that this shaggy-dog epic was always intended to unfold in such a way, but I'm sceptical. My hope is that if an "apocalyptic final battle" really is coming, it better amount to little more than an anti-climactic skirmish; more than that would be uncharacteristic for this bloated, scattered, over-hyped series.

I don't know... the geological structure itself looks different, as does the base of the building itself. The upper structure is slightly different, but mostly the same.

Bran will defeat Daenerys who is going to be the final villain of the books. That would fit GRRM's modus operandi with going against people's expectations.

    Good episode tonight.

    Mace Tyrell, you fucking gomer.

And Tyrion, when the game is rigged, you gotta flip the board.

Peter Dinklage is a motherfuckin' beast. :awesome

Mad props to him. That whole scene was intense.

And that look in his eyes when
they brought Shae in was fantastic.

Anyone know if Tywin told Tommen to not take part in the trial or wether that was his own choice?

That part was a little weird, everyone in the show had already presumed that was going to happen. They could have skipped that scene and no one would have blinked at it.

For a reason I don't even remember, I wasn't feeling Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell, but he's kinda killing it.

I can't wait for "The Mountain and the Viper."
