I'd personally advise you to scratch that from your list. Greystarks were once a cadet branch of the Starks, who got goaded on by the Bolton family into rebelling against the main Stark family, i.e. the then current King of Winter, and got wiped out for it.

Winterwood, IMO, would be neat, but your Jon Snow constantly thinks of himself as the Dragon's Son and what not. Dunno how this would fit, but I'd prefer that over the rest.

I know the history quite well. As I was introducing Domeric Bolton into the Vale this year in-game, I figured it'd be an interesting way to segue into the whole Ramsay/Roose/Domeric shitstorm.

Plus Catelyn would have shit bricks.

And Jon doesn't really think of himself as a dragon, IIRC. He's certainly identified strongly as a warrior, grown aggressive with others, but there really hasn't been a lot of self-identification as a dragon. He's been labeled that by Madam Meserole, but he's also been called a lot of other things as well.

Oh my, it seems I'm sporting quite the literary boner now.

I've always wondered about the 'what-if-Domeric-lived' and I really gotta wonder now if this fic of yours might diverge into such a thing. But I'm not holding out on hoping for that all too much, it seems more likely that Domeric would look at Jon Snow, see what he's done so far, and think that his half-sibling, another Snow, might be like Jon in some regard, which would then lead to his unfortunate demise when he's proven wrong.

My bad about the Dragon's Song part then.

Oh and at first I wanted to ask you why you chose Blackfyre for Jon, when Dark Sister might have been more apt (seeing as it was once wielded by one of the Great Bastards, but I suppose Blackfyre was too), but then I remembered that Brynder Rivers, i.e. Bloodraven, had the sword with him when he joined the Night's Watch and then subsequently got turned into a tree-net hub.

And wouldn't that be ironic and very in theme with ASoIaF? ;)

I've got some stuff lined up for the Boltons, depends on whether or not they go for it next year. Also just updated with the latest event.

Well, that and they literally rolled for it. There was a chance they could have wound up with Brightroar.

Hey, to the folks that wanted more of the Jon Stone stuff from that fic with five AUs of him, the author just posted a second chapter that expands on it a bit:

What A Life I Might Have Known

Ouch. Could have picked better words for him than 'Born to Glory'. Seems rather vain, even if it's accurate. But then again, this Jon isn't nearly as solemn as the original was, so there's that.

Love the stuff that's happened so far.

And gotta say I can't wait to see how you're going to characterize Domeric Bolton. The stuff you've done so far with characters we've barely read about before, the way you brought them to life has been really fantastic. And now enough with the asskissing from me and on with the flaying.

Jon's a bit more like Jaime here, except without the blatant, preening aspect to his self-confidence.

And yeah, Bolton stuff depends on the readers going for it. Some might try and hunt Euron Greyjoy down in Essos.

Why? Some other crazy idea and paranoia or something you mentioned off-hand and it got blown out of proportions?

Yeah was also very confused by that discussion, especially how most of the went the most "boring" route. But I guess that the setting lends itself very well to paranoia and SB seems to love those asinine discussions.

Btw: How do I register myself on SB..I seem unable to find the right page/button.

A couple of them have started musign on the shadowy web of affiliations and conspiracy between the tribal warlord OC and Euron Greyjoy after Ser Brynden died of a very vicious and deadly poison at the warlord's hand while they were at Storm's End. Don't know if the rest will pick upon it, but it's meant as a tease towards Essos and Valyria in future years.

In retrospect, the preceding madness will be nothing to next year when I set up everything properly for future direction and directive. They can't be everywhere in the next four years, and stuff like the Boltons, Essos, rising in the Riverlands, rising in the Stormlands, rising in the North, etc... are all pretty exclusive of one another.

Really, I probably could (and did muse on this when it looked like Jon might die) of doing A Dragon of the East: Skyrim Meets Essos with Viserys Targaryen as the principle character just to explore Essos stuff.

Well... I wouldn't say nothing. :sherlock:

    Update:
Dayne meets Jon at Riverrun, gives his perspective on R + L = J using the rape angle.

Chapter 3 for What A Life I Might Have Known
    It's the Joanna Snow plotline.

Hey Hash, I took a look at the latest debate in your game, some strong Arthur Dayne fanboyism/fangirlism there. :) After all it is not like he was involved in Lyanna's going missing and her rape - oh wait. Hurrr hurr Sword of the Morning.

They're excusing it because of the pragmatism trait they earned a while back, and claiming cultural differences regarding oath-keeping (pointing to Jaime as an an example). I wrote that bit of the update already though. I'm writing Dayne as a rather broken individual, so it'll effect how Jon sees him.

At least one at end of year dealing with Jon's accomplishments through the year. Arthur will probably be featured, plus Ned, one of the Baratheon brothers and maybe one of the Tullys. People seem to like them, so I'll probably keep doing them.

    Any suggestions?

I'm of a mind to see how Robb Stark deals with a bastard brother who outshines him. I imagine there might be some resentment festering slowly. Being knighted at 12 immortalized Jon and put him right there with Daemon Blackfyre and a number of other luminaries. That can not be easy on Robb.
