So apparently there is this fusion meme happening on DeviantArt where people take three characters from three different works of fiction and show multiple fusions of them. Here is an example of Elsa from Frozen, Arthas the Lich King from Warcraft and Lissandra from League of Legends.

I thought it might be nice to let DLP know that this is happening, as it provides much content for crossover ideas.

I think this would be interesting, especially if you have one of the other Stark kids (favorite choices are Brann or Arya) be the one to put an end to Jon's tyranny.

 

Plot Bunny:

Creatures of the Force - During the Mandalorian Wars, Revan and Malak discover a somewhat primitive planet inhabited by strange creatures the natives call Pokemon. Everything changes.

 

A LotR and ASoIaF and WoT fusion, An Age of Always Winter has come Again; far beyond the Wall, far beyond the edges of the Land known as Always Winter in these feeble memories of modern Men, deep below the hollow, frozen pit once burning bright and fierce and tall as Orodruin to some, and Shayol Ghul to others before it, the Great Other is stirring in his chains beyond the world. His influence is malicious, his purpose dark as frozen night eternal, and the time is coming when he shall break free and break the world with his coming, putting an end to the eternal cycle of Man.

 

Small plot bunny that could be taken a multitude of ways: Jon Snow does not take near entirely after his Stark Heritage. Still looking almost exactly the same as from canon, the only difference is his purple eyes. Though Ned still refuses to speak of his mother, in the minds of others, this all but officially confirms the fact that he is Ashara Dayne's son. (In my head canon for this fic, this would be true, but could be used with R+L=J, too)

If Catelyn Stark despised him in canon, it'd probably be even worse here.

When Jon and Robb are 9, and after another argument with Catelyn over Jon staing in Winterfell, Ned is is bombarded with a surprise visit from King Robert, who deigns to bring only a small party of people, leaving his wife and children back King's Landing. His only Kingsguard is Ser Barristan Selmy.

With things tense between he and his wife, and entertaining an enthusiastic and drunken Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark intakes perhaps more ale then he normally would and confesses his problems with Cat to Robert. While Robert has very little or no good advice, the discussion promptly changes topic.

Ser Barristan, of course, overhears all this but pays it very little mind for the time being.

Until he actually meets/sees Jon, that is.

Reminded of Ashara by his eyes, his thoughts briefly turn depressive, but he is not the kind of man to feel ill will towards a boy simply for who his father is. (As he thinks it is Ned, of course and we all know about hi crush on Ashara) After a bit, he comes to the conclusion that it would be remiss of him to let Ashara's apparent (But not confirmed) son live with a woman who scorns him.

So he offers to Ned to take the boy on as a squire, if Jon agrees. Which he does, obviously.

Tl;dr, young Jon Snow with purple eyes squire's for Barristan Selmy and proceeds to have awesome adventures.

 

You should totally write this, man. Or make it into a quest, to have Jon's whims dictated by mad men.

 

I might, honestly. Will have to tough out rereading the books first, though. Only skimmed the first time through, lol.

I also really liked Hash's Westeros he set up for the fledgling ASOSS Quest, and kind of wanted to write something with that, too. Maybe I'll combine the ideas? If I did, I'd probably have to ask Hash what he had planned for later conflicts in his Quest, though...hrmm

I'm actually considering the idea of doing a Quest. I've never GMed one before, but I have DM'ed a few games of D&D and the like. It's something to think on, and I probably will while I read the books.

Hrmmm, yeah. Do this as a Quest and write a fic based on Hash's ASOSS setting, if he let's me. Sounds good, though the fic probably won't get updated as much a a Quest XD

 

The only thing that get's annoying with GMing is that I find myself think far too ahead. I'm worried I'm going to get too invested in a certain path, only for SV to pick something completely different.

 

Don't do it on SV then? Have us friendly DLP folk ruin and mangle all your hopes and dreams.

 

I'll figure it out when I come to it. Before then, I still have to reread ASOIAF, which estimate to take me about 20-25 days, 30 at most. When I'm done, I can figure out where I want to set-up.

DLP has a great community, but SV has an easier time with tallying up votes and such.

WHo knows? Like I said, I'll get to it after I've done my rereading.

 

The vote tallying thing can be alleviated by how the vote itself is constructed. Single, massive choices involving multiple factors of variable importance are of course going to be messy.

Like the complicated vote of Hash's quest - that mess could be prevented by first letting people hash (...tee hee) out a couple of builds over the course of a day or two (maybe longer if it's a vote involving write-ins, how fast the quest goes is up to you), then make a simple poll with the various complete plans. Much cleaner than constructing a single plan from a mix of votes.

 

And cluttering up the general forum can be avoided by using a social group.

 

On another note, Alien versus Predator meets Dresden Files.

The aforementioned creatures are just from a distant portion of the Nevernever that got loose again at last, and on the team that goes in to investigate the sudden hole deep in the Antarctic ice leading to the Alien Pyramid is a Wizard of the White Council. Cue things going to hell in a hand basket when the monsters start appearing, people start dying, and magic doesn't work quite so well as it should have down in this place.

 

ASOSS will be coming back in a couple of weeks, so I'd rather not bring up anything regarding what I've planned for it. Considering how different it is to the books, you might as well keep it in line with canon and go from there as you chip away or add on what you want.
