Not sure where you stopped reading, but generally things got a bit better after Jon met up with Sansa in the Vale and got rid of Baelish. From there they went to Howland Reed at Greywater Watch and started uniting a lot of the North.

Jon was apparently Rob's heir, but Reed announced to Jon and Sansa he couldn't be the King of the North because of his Targaryen parentage. Bit of a dick move, but fair enough. That's when Jon and Sansa start developing a relationship, which hasn't had too much focus yet thankfully. They're aware that it's somewhat wrong to get involved with each other, but I guess they're only cousins or whatever so fair game in Westeros...

After that they're fighting a lot of their enemies - taking the twins, Moat Cailin and kicking Roose out of Winterfell. Pretty standard stuff, but it's been written fairly well so far. Ramsay is on the loose after they took Winterfell and is torturing/killing many of their subjects and bannerman, and Stannis is marching south and they don't know whether he is friendly or not.

One thing I don't so much like is that Brynden found Arya, Brienne and Podrick and sent them to Sansa. Also Arya randomly found Nymeria. :facepalm It's not all sunshines and rainbows though - Arya is, as you'd expect, not very good at being a princess. She almost gets some of the soldiers killed when she gets in a fight with them, runs off by herself, leaves Frey men to freeze slowly to death, Nymeria is pretty violent etc.

If anything read it for the insane update rate, because it's pretty decent stuff delivered more rapidly than 99% of other stories.

Yeah I stopped at 10 or so whenever Blackfish was having his rage at Jon anyway. Cheers for that Fatality, I'll skim from where I got up to but if the angst hasn't declined much I doubt i'll be reading it seriously.

iirc, when Cat got back from her meeting with Renly & Stannis she talked shit on Jon saying things like he chose to align himself with kings other than Robb. On top of her regular hatred of Jon she talked enough shit that Blackfish doesn't like or trust him. Don't worry though. Jon proves his bad assery and gains acknowledgement. Sorry if typos, sent from my iPhone and I suck at texting.

More, when Stoneheart met Blackfish the mention of Jon's name made her go berserk.

Man, this Cat's one mean bitch.

Couldn't help but laugh out loud at that scene. I've got a dirty mind.

Ties of Fire and Blood updated. This has rapidly become one of my favorite ASOIAF fics

The Open Way has updated again (at chapter 34 now), and it's incredible how the writer utterly ruined an interesting story in the past few chapters. And they just keep getting worse, chapter 34 even has robb being attacked by ironborn and it seems that now Asha wants to make him her sextoy.

To be fair taking Robb prisoner makes a fair bit of sense. With the Ironborn holding Robb they've got the proverbial ax hanging over the North, especially seeing as it's only Robb and Benjen that are alive (excluding Ned at the wall) and able to pass on the Stark name.
Plus with Robb prisoner that means the North is even less likely to help out with troops ect when Rhaegar finally gets going to deal with them and she can always trade Robb back for concessions of some sort like Theon could/ would have done with Bran and Rickton in canon.

Is Jon legitimized in the story? I assumed Rhaegar never bothered doing so seeing as he got in his flunk over not having a daughter but he's refered to as a prince once or twice so I'm a wee bit confused.

The Open Way has gone to the dogs a long time ago. It was mildly interesting at first, I'll admit, but with the whole "Rhaegar's got a plan" meta, it became tiresome to read.

Yeah Open way went to shit. Severe lack of any new good fics. If I read one more stupid Jon/Sansa that is instant romance the second they see each other I will kill a Tully.

Don't let Arianne's actions color your perception of the greatest house in Westeros.

I can't think of anything Arianne did to undermine my perceptions of House Umber. :sherlock:
