Good to know. I can at least hold out hope that it might suddenly become awesome again. :p

That was a really good episode. Loved the mummy and everything that came with it, including how they solved it. Not sure what to think about that ending though. Hopefully there's some fallout later and it's not just a big cop out.

Pretty decent ep. Mystery was a tad anticlimatic, but everything else worked. Nice refresher after last week's abomination.

This was the episode I enjoyed the most this season.

Kind of sad about that guy not being the new companion though.

Pretty good episode - ranking third behind Kill the Moon (2nd) and Listen (1st). Loved the concept of a train full of experts making deductions with their last breaths, and the mummy itself was pretty cool. Also, Jenna Coleman as a flapper girl? Yes. Yes please.

This episode had a huge dose of making everyone else stupid in order to make your protagonist look smart.

Anyone else think we are going to see the engineer again?

Again, a great episode with a fucking nonsense ending.

Last week, the Doctor was kind of a jerk and Clara told him to GTFO. This week, the Doctor acted even worse and she's asking to stay. I just... I give up trying to understand it. From now on, I'll just stop watching 5 minutes early and pretend that those parts of the episode don't exist. I'll be happier.

I don't think he'll show up again this season, but I did get the feeling there's more to the engineer than we saw. But that could just be that it was so strange to watch Frank Skinner playing the straight man.

I was expecting him to be a big bad, but it would be a cliche twist. And he reminded me of the best almost companion, Brian Williams.

Anyway, I was surprised that Clara appeared in this episode. After the ending of the previous one and lack of her presence in a trailer for this one, I was expecting her to take a short break.

As usual, a recycled Matt Smith plot - this time from all the way back in Season 5/6. This one wasn't half bad. Suspenseful and fun. Weak ending though... show the damn escape, ffs.

And for the better, it glossed over the stupid tension plot that they've built up. The whole idea is annoying more than anything else and it's because of that that I'm getting really sick and tired of Clara. Her whole characterisation wobbles back and forth and it's getting ridiculous. She knows he's regenerated, but HOLY SHIT HE'S DONE IT AGAIN AND THIS TIME HE'S MEAN AND NASTY AND I HATE HIM but oh he's still great and wheee time and space- no. Fuck you. Get out. Thank god this bullshit is over at the end of the series.

Now, having said how stupid and annoying it is... fucking build it up better and use it, or don't include it at all. How much of this season did we waste on it now? And for what? There have been ZERO consequences.

    Clara was fun this episode.
Test run for a female Doctor anyone?

Pretty decent episode, the season looks like it might be improving. Clara was pretty entertaining and I liked the general concept, but I feel like the end bit of dialogue between Clara and the Doctor was a bit out of place as she never really was forced to do anything particularly questionable to save the day.

This and the previous episode were the same writer. Hope we see more from him next season.

Is it just me or does it feel like we've been getting possible companions every week with the guy from last week coming closest to getting in the Tardis.

Its almost like the Doctor is travelling and holding some kind of audition because that can't be a coincidence. Also most of them have been male except for Blue.

I think the Doctor acting that way because Clara was 'pleased with how well she did' and was ignoring the fact that people died. The Doctor may not dwell on the deaths that happen during the episodes, but he never is pleased with himself on a job well done after the fact.

Like he said, he does it because someone has to.

To take pleasure in it, well. that's something else entirely.

That's my take, anyway. Anyone have a differing opinion on the end dialogue?

Edit: the Doctor picks companions who aren't like him, and... what if one starts becoming a lot more like him then he is comfortable with?

Jamie Mathieson, the writer of the last two eps, is doing a twitter Q&A on the 19th.

That was brilliant. Best episode this series by a long way - one of the best episodes of the revival era, possibly. I loved the idea of monsters in the walls, and the flattening effect - and indeed, the Boneless themselves - was really creepy. Clara was great, as was the Doctor (both of them), and the guest stars were pretty good too.

Intriguing scene with Missy at the end - what do we think she's chosen Clara for? As far as we can see, the only things that even be somewhat definitively said about her are that she put Clara in contact with the Doctor both in their original (from Clara's perspective) meeting and back in 'Deep Breath', neither of which seem to be obviously evil aims...

The Missy bit seemed a bit shoehorned in at the end, other than that though this really was an awesome episode, a really effective way to have the Doctor in it, but not able to take charge. Good monsters too, awesome in 2D and genuinely creepy in 3D.

Who needs writing and characters when you have magic trees? Ugh.
