I agree with most of your concerns, but most of them really don't bother me all that much.

I've got a high tolerance for cliches, I don't mind magical cores, trunks or wands. As long as those are not some sort of magical answer to every problem I'm generally fine with it. Cliches are popular for a reason.

In my opinion this fic is facing two major problems:
One, the ridiculously high number of love interests which you've already mentioned. The author tries to pay attention to each of these girls/women in order to make it at least somewhat believable, but so far the only female character I care about is Tonks. All of the others haven't even gotten enough screentime to become a properly fleshed out character. It doesn't even seem to stop, I have no idea why the author felt it was a good idea to add Hermione into the mix as well.

Number two on my list is something you've approached: The shifting power levels. It's really inconsistent and leaves me guessing a lot, but personally I'm fine with that. I'm happy as long as the main character is sufficiently powerful. The biggest problem this story faces is the lack of threat and danger. Harry is capable and well on his way to becoming a great fighter on his own, but this story lacks any kind of opposition.

Voldemort hasn't really done anything. Nobody died, there's no danger present. Harry is just training, he is practicing magic for its own sake. The only kind of conflict this story possesses is romantic in nature. The short chapter covering the end of the fifth book was pathetic, there was no tension to speak of and I never felt as if Harry was in any kind of danger or even scared.

I enjoy his character and I think power-wise he's at a right place, but even canon did a better job of showcasing how threatening and terrifying Voldemort was. He paralyzed an entire country. Twice. This story makes him seem like some kind of petty criminal.

It had only one chapter then, but look how it has developed.

Right, I don't think this was recommended before so far, and if it has, my apologies for bringing it up again.

What I've got here is a three part series, and I honestly have no idea how far the author intends to push out on this. Will he go for all seven years of Hogwarts or will it be resolved before that? No clue. I think the series fits the Almost Recommended criteria fairly well. Oh and the third story is still ongoing.

What I've got is something that has its fair share of cliches, not denying that. It has some Dumbledore bashing, it has time-traveling Harry, as well as Slytherin!Harry, and other stuff as well, but these three are the most notable ones. Hell, the author warns you in the summary that there would be some Dumbledore bashing.

Now, I'm against nonsensical bashing as any other person, Lord knows I've bitched about it more than a few times in the Pet Peeves thread, but the bashing here doesn't come off as the type where Harry gets to rant at Dumbledore, or where the whole world denounces the elderly wizard as a meddling buffoon. It's a biased kind of bashing. You have to read it to understand it. It's nothing all that convoluted, I'm just making a mess of things here, and I better stop here before I go any further with this babbling.

I'm on the second paragraph and the story has already descended to a level of absurdity that completely breaks all suspension of disbelief.

    Edit:

What the flying fuck, I just read the next few paragraphs. This makes absolutely zero sense.

I know, there's some really bad stuff in there, oh don't I know it. But strangely, I found myself enjoying it overall, so I'm willing to overlook a lot of things, as it turned out.

Not bad. I didn't get very far yet, but I like it so far. I skipped first chapter, as I always do with time travel stories, so I don't understand what exactly Taure meant, but I am in no hurry to find out.

I started reading it a few months ago and although some parts made me cringe a bit i still enjoy it somewhat, especially since it started to update again, it seems as though the author is debating whether or not to keep dumbledore manipulative

Personally, I really enjoy this series; of course, I'm not deathly allergic to "bashing" (as in revealing Dumbledore to be the manipulative bastard he was).

Each book is, in my opinion, an improvement on the previous - I've particularly enjoyed the political manipulation that goes on in Slytherin as the years progress. More importantly - Harry in Slytherin in this story actually has repercussions and impact from Day 1 (as opposed to Drizzlewizzle's multitude of books, for example).

So Power of paranoia just updated, it will end probably in a few chapters.

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the ME/HP cross: Lightning among the Stars. There is a chance it will be rewritten with a little more plot:
It's still at the beginning as you can see, but we can still hope...

A very new story, enjoyable and quite well-written. People tired of Dumbledore bashing should like his portrayal here.

God-like Hermione? I think I'll pass. I'll stick with Harry Potter stories that are about Harry Potter, not "how a smarter and apparently more powerful Hermione shapes Harry Potter" stories.

I tried it and agree with Spyder. I'm in the middle of the second chapter and I'm already fed up with how incompetent Harry seems to be in comparison to Hermione.

It's a few years after the Voldemort's defeat and Harry's occlumency is still not good enough to really protect his mind (even though he tries) while Hermione is great at Occlumency, Legilimency and has a memory palace that allows her to remember things very detailed. She also uses Legilimency on Harry without asking when she feels it's justified and he just accepts it. Though he doesn't want to learn it himself because he thinks it's too intrusive. Going back in time is Hermione's idea, how they'll go about defeating Voldemort once they're back is planned by Hermione because Harry is just too incompetent, reckless and thoughtless to come up with anything helpful. Not to mention how Harry obviously needs Hermione to tell him how to deal with his emotions("Occlumency! Stop it, Harry! You have to feel!"). And while the sorting hat doesn't detect that Hermione is from the future Harry - lacking the memory palace - is found out. I don't like this Harry/Hermione dynamic at all.

i had to stop reading it in chapter 3, where Hermione tells Harry not to get too overconfident, he doesn't listen, he gets ambushed while trying to go for the troll solo and wakes up in the hospital wing " oh Hermione you were so right bla bla"

I agree with everybody before me. The whole fic boils down to this: Hermione is right, Harry is wrong. Hermione is strong, Harry is weak. Harry needs Hermione, Hermione pretends needing Harry.

You pretty much described every H/Hr fic out there. Are there any good H/Hr fics out there at all?

Unsung Hero? It's quite old, but it's the only H/Hr fic I've ever managed to complete.
