That's a different case though as "Boruto" is Japan borrowing the word "Bolt", but due to their language they pronounce it as Boruto. It's like calling the protagonist of Fainaru Fantaji Sebun "Kuraudo Sutoraifu".

I had to look up the names you gave me because I'm unfamiliar with them. However I still believe that by translating the names to different languages you loose the significance behind the name. Boruto was given his name because he it had meaning to his uncle and father respectively "Bolt" looses the meaning it has with his father. Consequently if the author had wanted to convey the English equivalent he would have wrote it that way.

ボルト ("Boruto") is the katakana transliteration of "Bolt", because the Japanese alphabet literally doesn't have a symbol for the correct sound ("-lt" in this case). If you listen to it being spoken, you'll hear "Bort" or "Bolt", depending on the severity of the speaker's accent and how familiar they are with Western languages.

Claiming that "Boruto" has some kind of special meaning is just you being a weaboo.

 

Calling him Boruto is translating his name. It's the same as calling Killer B "Kirabi."

I was desperate for a fic to read and this one was slightly better than the rest of the crap.

Quite a number. They mostly devolve into Hinata-bashing. Typically they'll throw in how, "Kakashi shows clear favoritism towards Sasuke and is under order from the Council to keep Naruto untrained!1!1," and "Sakura is schizophrenic because of the voices she hears!"

 

I tried getting into it as it sort of had an interesting premise. But the author(s) actually use honorifics in their narration. I pointed it out in a review bit they seem to have ignored it.
Plus it did a complete one-eighty on the canon. Everyone is kissing Hinata's ass here and none seem seem able to stop singing her praises. Everything revolves around the 'princess'.In short the author(s) have created a mary-sue.
That said its still better than the shy stuttering mess of canon Hinata.
But at best it can be called a guilty pleasure as I don't see it rising beyond that.

I think I read one, where Naruto doesn't acknowledges Hinata because when he was small some people from the Hyuuga clan beet him up for speaking to Hinata, so he doesn't want to chance it.

 

I can't think of many times where's Sasuke's skill in the ninja arts inspired Sakura to try to achieve her goals. However the defining characteristic of Hinata's attraction to Naruto - his determination in the face of adversity - is seen to inspire Hinata to continue to try even through her hardships. For example in the Neji Vs Hinata battle, she explicitly mentions that her Nino and Naruto's are the same and that she will, like him never give up. I'm sure she mentions another trait when she tries to take on Pein when he nukes Konoha too. .

 

Doesn't Sakura start taking shit seriously when she realises both Sasuke and Naruto have left her in the dust and she doesn't want to be a burden anymore.

Really, it's become a Naruto-only Almost Recommendable thread. Not that it's a bad idea. For the popular Other Fandoms, makes sense to have separate threads. But yeah, not really "Quality Naruto Fics" by any means.

A Cage of Blood and Circumstance is hella good. It's an SI fic where a girl is dropped into Hinata's body.

Unfortunately, it hasn't updated in a long while.

Also, all haters of NaruHina, kindly lay down on some train tracks so I can drive my Naruto the Last hype train over your unresisting bodies. I love the pairing and I'm not ashamed.

 

Honestly, as much as I like NaruHina, I find the plot to The Last to be rather retarded. I saw a breakdown of the entire movie plot. The romantic tension basically comes down to

Naruto is retarded about Romance, episode 701. Apparently, the justification for his stupidity is he thinks Hinata loves him like he loves RAMEN. WTF, JAPAN.

Then, of course, there's the absolutely horrendously bad characterization of women, and people in general, a line from Sakura that goes something like

LIKE. WHAT. REALLY?! MAN, PEOPLE MUST NEVER HAVE DIVORCES OR FALL OUT OF LOVE OR CHANGE/GROW AS PEOPLE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN JAPAN.

This is confirmed in an interview he released about the movie, recently:

Besides, I'm rather pissed at Kishi right now. He intentionally trolled people by making NaruSaku seem like it was going to happen. What with making Sakura act like Kushina, and Kushina saying 'don't choose a weird girl' in refrence to Naruto calling Hinata 'weird' early on in the series and Minato saying 'You're just like Kushina', and a dozen dozen other little details. He planned NaruHina from near the very start, and deceived us with NaruSaku in the foreground on purpose. That's just BAD FORM man.

Not only that, but it's TERRIBLE Romantic writing. Combine that with his admitting that he's embarrassed by writing about romance, and you get a man who intentionally got the hopes and desires of fans up by spending what little romantic writing he had on a pairing he had ABSOLUTELY no intention of following, leaving the one he WAS going to end the series on with really, really minimal and crappy development. Don't get me wrong, I like NaruHina, but not because I like Hinata for who she is. I like her for her archtype. I would have loved to see her turned into a real character instead of a caricature of the Yamato Nadeshiko.

Also, why is Naruto the only one who has to give up on his childhood crush? He's the fucking protagonist, has a heart made of gold, and has loved this one girl with all his heart for most of his life, and now he has to watch her marry and have kids with the traitor assface who stuck a fist covered in lightning chakra through his chest, and blew off his damn arm?! Fuck you, Kishi. Fuck you in a thousand ways.
