I don't think the Hiraishin no jutsu even required lightning chakra. I thought that it was just the name.

You obviously haven't read Eilyfe's fic, then. Only good story I've ever read where Naruto wasn't Wind Affinity. Even if it bugs me consistently to this day.

 

I'm sure I've read a few, but I was referring to the overwhelming majority.

Well, I think at least it may be fair to say that there aren't any good fics that make a big deal out of Naruto having an affinity that isn't wind.

Although I have to say that earth never gets any love. I can't even remember any fic where Naruto had an earth affinity. Not that giving him an earth affinity is an especially good idea.

 

I don't think there's any fic in any fandom,or even original fictionin which Earth gets any love. The protagonist always has a fire/air/water bent, though water is the rarest and fire is the most common.

I stand corrected, thankful for someone's shamelessness for once. Let me rephrase. Fire/air/water account for 99.9% of all good fanfiction (let's call this 3.5 stars or over by DLP's standards) as well as original fiction.

 

I rarely ever see nature manipulation that isn't wind. The few where he has an affinity for fire, for example, he just uses Grand Fireball or whatever.

Where's the pyromancy Fire Nature Manipulation should bring? You see the electric variant with the Raikage and his fists.

Mastery of earth would be broken as fuck though (in a good way). Turning any part of one's body as hard as stone on command is all kinds of awesome.

 

Using Fire&Wind elemental manipulation for a new form of nin-taijutsu.

A wind Raikiri fueled by fire. A slice of your hand will bisect people in half and cauterize that shit.

I think I remember Hurricane Suite featuring a water affinity.

 

Depending on how you consider it, Gaara's Sand might be most people's fix for some Earth Element Loving. I know it's usually considered Earth/Wind, but Sand is Sand is Sand. It's like saying Ice isn't Water.

I mean, fics where Naruto has sand manipulation aren't all that common, but I don't think they were too rare either.

 

It's not Naruto's affinity, but I get my earth fix from Sarutobi and Jiraiya. (In case of my story, also Sakura).
