I am hoping he doesn't take the canon route for his Zetsu. The back story he has given his works perfectly for his story

What the fuck ind of ninja doesn't kill anyone? Damn, they're a bunch of mercenary spies, assassins and saboteurs! Kakashi has (presumably) a high off-screen bodycount (he was anbu and that means "Special Assassination and Tactical Squad") and modest on-screen one, but zero und with that becoming the hokage? Goddamn, that's one of the reasons I stopped watching and reading Naruto!

 

He killed Kakuzu, the fake Itachi, Raiga (that was filler though)... and that's it I think.

Naruto is a shonen manga. Not seinen.

 

He didn't kill Kakuzu (it was Kakashi, Naruto just "killed" two, IIRC, of his hearts), Raiga killed himself in midair and the fake Itachi was already dead (resp. when his allotment of chakra would've ran out, he would've died), so basically Naruto became the king of assassins with zero bodycount! That's retarded!

Yeah, shonen pulls off that kind of shit constantly, which is one of the reasons I shun shonen almost entirely.

 

Bottomline while Naruto hasn't killed anyone it hasn't been for the lack of trying. You know now that I think about it someone can write a decent crackfic out of this plot point

I dunno where there's a detailed analysis, but I can tell you why they're there right now: The target audience of young, Japanese males, as a gestalt, responds well to them.

 

Stop thinking of shinobi as assassins and start thinking of them as super soldiers that prefer assassination.

That's what they are in real life not what they are in the context of the manga. In the manga they're superhuman soldiers. The origin of ninja and shinobi have nothing to do with assassination in Naruto.

 

Of course that's what they are, well, everyone except Naruto!

 

It's kind of backwards but in Naruto a ninja is someone who uses ninjutsu.

 

The whole point of Naruto was to forgive and forget regardless of the situation. Part one was really the only part of the story that made sense.
Kishimoto had a good idea going where Orochimaru and Itachi were cold blooded killers who where out for immortality and I had originally expected the story to revolve around them and Naruto of course.

 

And that's why Sasuke wasn't hanged on the next available lantern for having betrayed Konoha and trying to destroy it?

 

He never actually got around to trying to destroy it. There's also the fact that his actions benefited Konoha overall.

 

After Kishimoto's crazy plot twists more or less everyone except this Kaguya bitch was a damn hero, even this Michael Jackson-Voldemort-lookalike and his nameless four-eyed minion.

 

The four eyed minion that helped Kaguya come back in the first place.

 

...to do all kinda military, security, intelligence and police stuff.
