Naruto: Iron Soul was decent. Still given the absurd amounts of chakra Naruto has access to bloodline limits just seem like overkill in most cases.

 

Tuebor was really good too. It had an older Naruto with Mokuton, who was on the same team as Itachi and Yugao; after the Wave mission, he replaced an injured Kakashi as sensei.

It really only scratched the surface of his Mokuton abilities, since it was unfortunately abandoned.

 

To me one of the charms of the series was the fact that Naruto didn't have a bloodline. Lets face it he already has a biju in his gut, anything else is plain overkill. Fanfic writers have give him a bloodline only to elevate him to godlike status he didn't need hence the lack of good bloodline fics.

 

I disagree with that, I want to see him with one because elemental fusions are a cool concept and are really flashy.

 

Naruto doesn't need a bloodline to be flashy. I 'd like to see a well done bloodline fic, but its hard to do without overpowering him. One way to do it would be to have him not be a jinchuriki, that might work.

 

Signs is kind of technically a bloodline fic. Any fic where Naruto can use the Uzumaki Chains can probably be counted, too.

New Perspective was...alright. Not the best, and abandoned, i think, but it wasn't too bad. plus, Fem!Sasuke.

And The Melt is still a classic.

Aside from that, yeah, not many good Bloodline!Naruto fics, though the idea itself isn't inherently bad.

 

I'd probably count Life as a Game stories as pretty much bloodline Naruto as well.

 

Saying that Naruto doesn't have a bloodline is a bit disingenuous. I mean, sure the 'Uzumaki' bloodline of 'lots of Chakra' and 'Healing Factor' (and Strong Vitality, if that's really a separate thing?) was attributed as being the Kyuubi for the longest time. Hell, it was quite probably retconned into being a bloodline anyway, but it is one nonetheless.

Also, for all intents and purposes the Kyuubi itself is not just more powerful, but also more 'flashy' than any of the traditional bloodlines.

 

Plus like you said the vast majority are Sharingan/ Rinnegan fics rather than the more interesting ones.

Depending on how you played it there is always Orochimaru and his experiments to fall back on depending on when you want to place him getting kicked out of the village.

A Naruto with magnet release would be cool to read about if it was done well. Either that or lava, don't think I've ever seen a fic with one of those two options.

 

Kurama has the most boring ability compared to the other tailed beasts.

 

I for the most part agree, but now you're talking canon. Fanfiction is a completely differently realm. When you look at, for example, Life in Konoha's ANBU you have a genius Naruto able to fight at the A-rank level and even go toe-to-toe with S-rank opponents at the age of 12 and yet it's enjoyable. Shezza makes it work, partly through portraying S-rank ninjas as the scary mother fuckers they are and partly through the fact that he's being tossed in there without Sage Mode, without Kurama's help, and in a much less forgiving universe than canon.

So no, I agree that canon Naruto is better without a fancy bloodline and that fanfic writers using bloodlines as a tool to elevate him at zero cost, but I disagree with the idea that we "don't need" it in fanfiction.

 

There are bloodlines(good genes) and there are bloodline limits(abilities that only people of a bloodline can use). I believe when people refer to bloodlines here they're referring to bloodline limits as opposed to just having good genes. The Uzumaki chakra chains may be considered a bloodline limit but not strong vitality, lots of chakra, and longevity.

 

I really liked Signs and New Perspective. Never really got into The Melt even though it's been very popular for a long time. I even tried reading it a few times, which is more than I can say for most. The beginning always throws me off for some reason.

 

I enjoyed new perspective but the author wanting to stick to canon just irritated me.



Anyway, list fics that gave you feels.

 

You misunderstand. I'm not against bloodline fics. Its just that most fics use this concept to elevate him to a godlike status which kills the story for me. I'm saying one way to pull it off would be to not have him as a jinchuriki. Give tge story a lot more coherence.

 

This gave me more feels than you'd ever imagine.

Feels? Honestly, most of the fics that elicited any emotion other than amusement at the comedy were one-shots that I can't remember the name of. What few i do remember are probably well known. (20 Times Uzumaki Naruto didn't die, etc)

I think Blind Stars of Fortune maybe kind of made me sad a couple times?

Worth Dying For had it's moments, too.

The only other fics with that kind of impact are those written by people on DLP, such as Shezza's LiKA, or Nauro's SMTG, or Roarian's fic, etc.

Oh, and Myoushuu no Fuuin also had a few moments. Damn, I wish that fic still updated.
