Eh. The main body of the episode was ok, nothing special. The ending would have been more or less perfect if it had stopped maybe five minutes earlier.

Alien meets Inception is a neat idea, and the Dream Crabs were a little creepy, more so in their face hugging stage than in the actual crab stage. That said, it's yet another "Don't x!" monster, which is starting to get a little old.
Nick Frost was good - the idea of Santa was a little odd, but they made it work in the end - and the other guest stars were ok too.
I really liked the end of Clara's story at the end of Death in Heaven. It was tragic, and worked perfectly for the character. Having her back for one last hurrah was ok. Having that last hurrah end with her turning out to be 60 years older would have built on that ending and softened it a little without undermining it. Having her come back did undermine it though, which is a shame. That said, I do quite like both Clara and Jenna Coleman, so I'm in two minds about her staying on.

It was ok, seemed a little disjointed at times but I liked it. So Jenna is staying on for another season it seems, I like her but it feels like they filmed this before she did and then they tacked that last bit on the end. Still was better than last years one.

Also what was with the girl ticking off forgive someone or other off her Christmas list about?

Doctor Who does Inception. It could have been a lot worse.

The option still exists. Just randomly scatter tangerines in each episode next series and see where it goes from there.

As long as this isn't integrated into a series-long arch, I thought it was pretty good. Vastly preferred it to the last couple Christmas specials.

When the reveal came that Clara was woefully old, I was actually ready to say that this was a pretty decent ep; that I was very pleased Moffat had decided that Clara had moved on with her life and felt relatively fulfilled without the presence of the Doctor or Danny.

And then that one last inane inception moment happened, Clara was young again, and we were left with the daunting promise of her incessant nattering for yet another season.

I thought the episode was pretty decent, I was entertained throughout and never really got bored.

    Nothing amazing though. :/

Decent episode, didn't wow me. Peter Capaldi was great, the writing was less so. I felt the dialogue was a bit naff (some great lines.
"Beardy weirdy" and "bigger on the inside"
were particularly hilarious) but the actors pulled it along as best they could.

    Question.

What's happened to the rest of the crabs that are supposedly in the world then?

Well, the Doctor has that line about the world being full of dangerous things, most of which we eat, and he's not our mother. Or something to that effect, anyway.

    So, either:

    1) He's suddenly become even more callous than he was during the series proper, which is possible although hopefully not the case.
    2) Plot-hole.
    3) We can take that quote at face value, and it would be rather like the Doctor going to Australia and getting rid of...well, everything. Not so much an invasion as a weird, dangerous predator that might at most kill a few people per planet per year. They explicitly said that they might all be coming from different points in time, and if we assume that everyone experiencing the dream was everyone being attacked by the crabs rather than everyone they could afford to cast, then that's six people from Earth from potentially all of history. As threats go, this is perhaps one the Doctor doesn't need to worry about too much; maybe he'll pass the details onto UNIT and tell them to do some work without him. Or maybe that's contradicted by stuff he says in the episode, but eh.

Basically, it probably depends on how charitable you feel towards the show/Moffat.

The first teaser for series 9. Nothing much to glean from most of it - lots of shots of people looking scared/worried, glimpses of monsters, the inevitable Dalek and Missy crops up a few times - but the last scene will no doubt fuel the rumour mill.

    That last scene :awesome

Super excited. I just hope we won't waddle through a lot of mediocre episodes and have to wait for an epic finale like usual...

So apparently I'm completely out of the loop - I had no idea who the girl at the end was. Or who it was even supposed to be hinted to be.

Why is everyone going crazy about it?

It's Maisie Williams, from Game of Thrones; there's been no word about who her character is supposed to be, but fairly famous actress plus character who appears to know the Doctor of old plus her having the only actual dialogue in the trailer equals the conclusion that she's going to be important. Given the fandoms tendencies, there's going to be a fair few people screaming Time Lady. But as yet we know absolutely nothing about her.

I reckon she's connected to the Doctor's granddaughter somehow.

I have a feeling it's either Susan, or the Doctor's cloned daughter (though if I remember correctly her face didn't change after her regeneration, so maybe not).

From what I remember of Susan, the last we saw of her she had gotten married, and was using makeup to give off the appearance of aging. Also, I vaguely remember something about her son dying. It was never revealed if she was actually dead or not (though the Doctor implied several times that he assumes she's dead).

If it does turn out to be her, I'm hoping they bring in Carol Ann Ford for a regeneration scene.

I think that's a city on Skaro, but the cave does look like The Sisterhood of Khan (is it Khan..or Kar? It's K something).

There's been speculation where she's just a character who was left during the two parter 'Girl Who Died/Woman Who Lived'.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that was Skaro from The First Doctor era, right?
