Everyone talks and thinks the same way. The only one that's different is Sasuke(and he's the only one whose been interesting in 3 chapters).

Seriously? If you mean Richotet, I couldn't disagree more. I think that each character has a rather distinct voice.

 

Ricochet is contradictory. It's brilliantly written, but extremely angsty (which usually means shitty story). And personally, while I fucking love one shots of this nature, such a long story isn't really my style. However, the characterizations are brilliant, the story just works at a certain level, and the emotion is handled extremely well. It's completely recommendable, and the author is a genius for being able to write something like this.

However, this should have been shorter. 25k words would be the longest length at which I'd call something like this awesome.

 

I agree characters are done well. However as soon as a saw the dreaded high school setting I started cringing.

 

The NarutoxKushina interactions, while quite silly, are great, and I haven't read many fics yet where dialogue made me laugh like that. The content is debatable, but that's true for every fic - personal preference and all that. The humor breaks up the angst well enough for me.

In that regard I value the annoying and obnoxious Naruto the most. He's got great lines, and actions like the choo-choo train make me grin like a lunatic, no matter how often I've reread this story now.

Overall, I believe this definitely to be library worthy.

Damn, I'm really, really envious of this style. Well, nothing to it but writing more myself, I guess. It just goes to show that there are still pearls to be found in the shitstorm that is ffn.net.

I have somewhat fond memories of this, although I cannot say if it was actually good, as I was pretty new to Naruto fanfics back when I read it.

 

Not really. IIRC, there is a story where Kyuubi actually remembers being the Juubi and wants to return to this state by taking over Naruto, but I don't remember its title. What I do remember, though, is that it was a guilty pleasure kind of fic, at least for me.

The best you can find doesn't mean it's quality. I'm all for thread derailment and discussion, but don't go against the purpose of the thread...

 

You'd know if you kept reading that what you're saying is complete bullshit.

Also, romance happens. If Naruto was the main character and he had a crush on, say, Kurenai you'd enjoy it just fine because it's an interesting idea and because it makes Naruto into a more well rounded character. Aiko develops a crush in this story. She has relationships. She even has sex. You know, like a regular person.

 

The purpose of this thread is 'quality'. That is defined as what someone thinks is very good as compared to the rest of it's type.

If the best you can find in this fandom is what you mean by quality than your looking at what 20 fics at most? Which have mostly already been mentioned in the beginning of this thread. My thoughts on quality in this thread are decent writing and interesting ideas.

If you can shoot down what someone thinks is a decent quality story than you can also recommend other stories that you think are better.

 

I'd like to know one thing before I give Vapors a read. Does Naruto remain the main character or is he completely replaced by the OC?
