I like the idea, but your writing seems very overwrought.
I mean, I don't recall WoT or aSoIaF ever going that far.

What's the point of him being Rand?

It doesn't fit since he's just Aegon. He looks like Aegon and he's Rheagar's son, and he doesn't act like Rand from WoT because in terms of his past he's not. The rest of the canon world situation seems unchanged, including the Targaryens and the aforementioned Rhaegar, but it's not a crossover where the actual Rand has come to Westeros. So him being "Rand al'Thor" doesn't really work.

It just seems kind of dumb. Like a half arsed fusion that isn't really a fusion but also isn't a crossover.

I mean, if you're going to take the ASoIaF universe and fuse WoT mechanics into it, you'd think they'd alter it the the point of being quite different. In which case having Jon and Aegon being loosely in the positions of Tam and Rand (foster father to the Dragon and the Dragon himself) fits okay, but changing the names when the characters aren't really Tam or Rand in personality seems pointless on top of not making much sense in universe.

Basically, something like this could be really cool, but only really as an actual crossover with the actual characters, or with a lot more world building.

Fair enough, yeah. I tend to use more than is necessary most of the time. What I posted here is pretty much unedited from the day-to-day snippets I pushed out over a week or two last month.

Mm. First draft of the idea, pretty much, testing out the waters to see how it fairs. Your points are all good as to why this doesn't hold up well enough to keep going further as-is, and I need to re-read WoT to get back into the real Rand etc personalities.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Could be intriguing. Wouldn't that mean that Naruto doesn't go to the toads to learn senjutsu techniques and therefore remains fairly reliant upon his own substandard skill set and the Kyuubi for power? Or would Jiraiya/Tsunade encourage him down that road anyway. Hm...

    ---

On the note of WoT/Song XO, actually sending Rand there in the flesh, what might be the reasoning behind it happening? Travel with those portal stones going awry, throwing Rand into a land/reality that is so drastically different he cannot recognize it? If this is done early enough, somewhere between Dragon Reborn and Shadow Rising, he might not have enough control over Saidin yet to operate the stone and get himself back to his world/reality.

Would Saidin work in this strange land of Westeros, as another facet of the Creator's designs, and would the Dark One be present in some form or another? I'd think that yes, but with restrictions or enough changes to keep Rand from escaping for some long while.

If he's just proclaimed himself the Dragon Reborn, would he still go out of his way to be acknowledged so, or rather keep silent? My memories of the early series really are quite spotty at this point beyond a few key elements.

An easier idea than that is to fuse the two settings entirely. The Song of Ice and Fire world would be another Age, probably the Fifth Age so that the events of the WoT series are nothing but myth by this point, and one of the SoI&F characters is the Dragon Reborn.

Depends on how you use Jiraiya's survival. I don't see it changing much unless you use it to deprive Naruto of Sage mode which doesn't look like a good idea no matter how you look at it.
You could technically have Konoha better prepared as they won't waste time trying to decode his message so there is that.

That sounds like a nifty solution, yes. So who's the Dragon? My first thought leaps to Jon Snow.

That was my first thought as well, though there's plenty of room for change if we're introducing elements from the WoT universe. The Dark One is much more active than the Great Other, even if he is imprisoned in Shayol Ghul.

Veronica Mars / Buffy the Vampire Slayer fusion.

Basically, in this fusion AU the towns of Neptune and Sunnydale are merged into one (as both are in California this shouldn't be that big of a deal).

We'll keep the name Sunnydale, given that it was founded by the demon mayor so it is plausible that he'd use the same name.

However, since we're giving Buffyverse name of the town, let's use the Marsverse dating and start the series in 2004 as Veronica Mars did.

So we'll simply have to de-age all the human characters from Buffy by 7 years (for vampires and demons years don't matter), that shouldn't be a problem.

So seventeen year old Buffy Summers moves with her mother to Sunnydale in March 2004, where she is approached by her new Watcher Rupert Giles. Buffy side of the story follows from here.

In September 2004, the events of the first Veronica Mars episode take place.

Here, we could have something very interesting.

In the finale of the first season of BtVS, Buffy died temporarily, which was enough to activate Kendra as another vampire slayer.

This happened in June, meaning before the storyline of Veronica Mars begins.

What if instead of Kendra being activated as the next slayer, Veronica was activated?

There are so many possibilities here.

Think about it, you could have: the Hellmouth with the Demon Mayor, the vampires and other creatures and at the same time you can have the corrupt sheriff's office, private investigators, shady human criminals and dangerous organizations and corporate espionage. And while all this is happening, two Slayers are working independently of each other, though eventually they'd meet.

Buffy and Veronica could have an interesting work relationship, Veronica knows the town better and has more contacts, but Buffy has been a Slayer longer and has more experience with vampires and other creatures.

It does work better, though like I said before it would take a lot of world building.

I'm not big on Jon Snow, but to be honest only as a case of personal bias due to not actually finding him all that interesting in canon and being turned off by him being super special chosen one who fixes everything in every fanfic under the sun. Basically the same reason I don't like reading about Daenerys.

Going with Aegon like the original idea might be cool, though at the same time he's kind of a nothing (as far as established personality goes) in canon anyway. But hey, at least you'd have Essos as a setting and War Elephants.

You could also have the actual Aegon the Conquerer as a Lews Therin equivalent depending on what you do to the backstory, but at the same time he'd basically be an actual OC.

Really you can go with absolutely anyone for the Dragon. It just depends on who you want to center the story around, since you have the whole Ta'veren thing to justify basically anything that can possibly happen happening.

I still like the idea of Aegon because you could have him be a Blackfyre and have the "fake dragon" be the actual Dragon. Or maybe I just really like the idea of butthurt Daenerys. Also Fucking War Elephants.

Just want to chime in saying I enjoyed the style you used in the snipped. I wouldn't mind if say in this instance that it was just Rand that spoke in this style and the rest of westeros was more informal.

Had an idea for a one-shot, possible two-shot, making fun of some of the really bad naruto cliches. The first scene would be a random stall vendor going about his day, before being approached by a young naruto, who asks him why they aren't all gathered in a mob trying to kill him. This confuses the vendor greatly, because why in the world would they do that?

Then a scene where Naruto enters the sealscape and bugs Kurama, who is certainly neither a woman now nice and will definitely not call him kit, no matter how many times the damn brat asks. And no, he's told him dammit, he can't give Naruto any super special awesome sauce bloodline. Here, take the ability to sense negative emotions already and leave me alone!

Perhaps a scene where he's brought in front of the Hokage by an ANBU for trespassing and trying to live in Training Ground #44, because Naruto was sure there were assassins after him, and that if he cuold live in the forest, obviously he'd turn into an awesome ninja. Despite the fact he had to be saved from being eaten by a tiger.

Oh, and then he asks a pre-massacre Sasuke why he isn't a spoiled, stuck up asshole and it just devolves from there.

Thinking yet more on the ASoI&F/Wheel of Time fusion...

The Dragon originally held the titles Lord of Morning and Prince of the Dawn. So, if we were to transpose that to Westeros, we could have the Dragon Reborn: Prince of Dorne and Sword of the Morning. It even has the magical sword to replace Callandor.

I'd make this an Aegon-centric story, where he was taken in by the Daynes after the Sack of King's Landing rather than sent over to Essos. If you want a point of divergence (beyond this being the Fifth Age of the Wheel of Time) I'd go with Ashara Dayne having a stillborn child, but then replacing her with Aegon, and not committing suicide. He's a few months older than Ashara's child, so the two remain hidden for a year or two until he can be mistaken for a quickly grown child.

This gives a bunch of options for character interactions, especially between the Starks and Daynes, and Ashara's depression warring against her care of the infant Aegon.

Of course this closes off the option of Jon Snow being the child of Ned and Ashara since nobody of any importance would believe in fraternal twins this different. He'd be dead a month after being revealed to the world.

There's more inherent plot with a Targaryen than with a Dayne, also wouldn't want him to start as the Head of a powerful family.

Veronica Mars has been on my 'to watch' list for a while. I would like to read this.

    Edit:

I never really watch Kim Possible as a kid but I do enjoy femmslash so when I saw a Kim/Shego fic I decided to take a look. It wasn't very good and I moved on after a few chapters but it got me thinking about the whole teenage spy thing.

For example, When I was younger I loved the Alex Rider series and the unforgivably brutal imagery of what it would be like for a teen to be carrying out 007-type missions. Alex hated the job he was forced to do and his desperate desire to cling to his no killing people policy while naive was very child-like and fitting, trying to cling to his innocence.

With that I mind I was trying to imagine Kim Possible in a similar circumstance. In reality, the secret agent business is brutal, cold-blooded and unforgiving, and there is little chance of someone like Kim going into it willingly - even less so as a teenager. It would basically be a James Bond and Alex Rider inspired massively AU rewrite with Darker and edgier thrown in.

Kim is a model and hard-working student. She's involved in nearly every extra-ciricular activity her school has to offer. She's incredibly intelligent for her age and knows several languages. And she's curious. He curiosity one day nearly gets her killed when she stumbles upon some sort of alphabet soup agency (CIA, NSA, whatever...) operation and blows it before managing to unintenionally regain control of the operation and save it - this puts Kim on the Agency's radar.

A mission comes up and the mission planners decide that a young teenage girl would be best for the job. Lucky for them very recently a competent, mature and reasonably well grounded teenage girl came to the Agency's attention. From the standpoint of the Agency the job, while dangerous and critical to success, isn't too difficult so they use the time-proven methods of bribes and blackmail to get Kim to comply.

The job turns out to be dangerous and difficult than expected by the operation's planners, and it's only Kim's fortitude and quick thinking that saves the operation and her own life.

From here, similar to Alex Rider, Kim is dragged kicking and screaming into the murky world of international espionage and counter-terrorism. Having experienced the dangers she doesn't want her best friend anywhere near the Agency and he never knows what's happening. The long unexplained absences from school ruin Kim's educational credentials and she had to withdraw from nearly all social activities. Having to become very brutal and cold-blooded Kim quickly turns from the cheery and upbeat teen she once was.

Worldwar: In The Balance / Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover.

Basically, the Race still invades during World War II in May 1942, but it happens in the MCU.

At first things go just like in the Worldwar book, with small alterations due to the different characters existing.

However, this is a month after Red Skull has discovered the Tesseract (March 1942) and has started experimenting with it.

I fully expect that Schmidt would use the powers of the cube to create weapons like he did in the Captain America movie, but this time he would have to use these weapons against the Race.

I also assume that Project Rebirth is sped up and we get supersoldiers earlier, and perhaps more of them.

Long story short: the Race loses like in the books, but then we fast forward to 1960s when the Colonization Fleet arrives expecting a planet conquered by the Race. Instead they find that the Race only holds power over Africa, Australia and South America.

In the 1960s we have Anton Vanko and Howard Stark developing the Arc Reactor. Not much else happens from the MCU side that we know of, but we already have a different world here. The Race have been on Earth for the last 20 years and don't seem to be going away anytime soon.

After another jump we find ourselves in the 1980s where things start getting more interesting.

Because Yondu Udonta and the Ravagers come to Earth for Peter Quill. There is no way in seven hells that this would not be noticed by humans and the Race who are all actively monitoring the skies for any trouble.

As such, both factions get to contact the Ravagers and learn of the wider galaxy. Yondu gets filthy rich for selling some of his trinkets to both the humans and the Race for a ridiculous price. The stuff is worthless to him but to them it is incredibly advanced technology.

Meanwhile, the Race have been on Earth for 40 years now and have effectively become a fact of life instead of the recent invaders.

Another (final) jump into the future and we find ourselves in the present.

The world is definitely a different place. Humans and the Race have been in contact with the rest of the galaxy for 20-30 years now. They know of the Kree, the Xandarians, and many other races.

Earth is more technologically advanced, we finally have access to interstellar travel and many other things like artificial gravity or goddamn laser guns. Everything runs on Arc Reactors perfected by Stark Industries.

It is in this setting that we see the alternate lives of the main characters, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Steve Rogers, Thor and Nick Fury.

What are their lives in this changed world? Well, the possibilities are endless!

My one problem with this is that I am not sure I like Veronica being a Slayer. That has always been a major weakness of hers, that she is simply not a person to thrive in violent situations and that she isn't really a fighter. She can defend her self adequately enough, when she is prepared for it, but she isn't someone who likes being in physical danger.

As such, I am not sure how the few months of experience are really going to be as much of a deal as you say it will. Veronica is brilliant, but if she suddenly had the ability to enter any place and beat up everyone in it, well, suddenly Veronica is unstoppable. It's not that Buffy is dumb, or anything, but she doesn't have Veronica's intelligence.

So, Veronica with powers would mean an odd imbalance in her favour. Which is weird, since Veronica is usually the underdog in the fight.

That's not to say it can't be done, but I am unsure how things would unfold there.

Martian Manhunter is a fusion between VM and BtVS, where Veronica finds herself in Sunnydale. Not the best piece of work but entertaining enough.
