Never watched Hellsing, but I can't imagine that to be a good thing.

Are there other such stories with SIs in similar positions? SIs that don't immediately start the industrialization or conquering the world or stuff like that?

Unfortunately, most SIs I've seen in ASOIAF stories (and other fantasy fiction) immediately invent the printing machine, set up a democratic form of government, and enforce it via gunpowder.
Because that can't go wrong, of course.:sherlock:

Well, the quest is actually interesting and the writing decent. I'm not familiar with Hellsing either, I just wiki'd shit up.

I agree with you on general principle, but this one instance is one I might have to contend. Alucard is a fucking amazing character. He's got one of the most boring base premises I've ever seen, but Hirano managed to make it into something great. Seeing more of him elsewhere is something I can't object to in good conscience.

That said, my first instinct was to imagine that it was Abridged!Alucard instead and how that would have played out. I'm kinda depressed that I'll never see that.

Can I have a link to the Alucard quest?

I liked it, it's a bit short though

Eh, I find the things he gets up to a bit unrealistic for his supposed age. Even if he is smarter than his age, it's a bit much at times.

For those who aren't aware, Sean Bean Saves Westeros - Book 1: Sean Lends a Hand has been finished, with some chapters rewritten and a few new ones added (really digging the author's Roose) and now there's a sequel that's currently ongoing, called Sean Bean Saves Westeros - Book 2: Sean Wins by a Nose. Sad to say, only 4 chapters so far, but now that the first book is done and done, I suspect we'll see more updates soon enough.

For those who aren't familiar with this fic, the premise is quite simple:

It always seems weird to write fanfiction about real people who are still alive. Like, have no problem with fictional people or historic figures but real life people just seems...odd. And wrong.

I'm sad that some of the more interesting stories keep going on hiatus.

Does anyone here read The Wind Itself was Their Song?

Personally, I find it awful. It has that vibe of wish fulfillment,
with the whole Rhaegar-taking-Lyanna-as-his-second-wife, Jon being their 'trueborn' son, Lemora being Ashara, Ned being alive and becoming allies with Renly, Ned knowing about Aegon and so on and so on.

Sounds cringeworthy alright. Will skip it.

Edit: Are there any stories that kind of continue the ending theme of Fool's Gold? With Jon begging Dany to rescue the North etc.? Good ones that is...

Dammit that just reminds me how much I wish Fool's Gold was continued past where it went.

I know. It was a really interesting concept. It has to be written.

Has anyone seen this? It's the supposed original outline for ASOIAF. Very interesting stuff. Especially considering what the story grew into.
