RWBY/Diablo

A pair of sisters, a delicate flower wishing to prove herself and a girl running from her past arrive in the Rouge Encampment wishing to prove themselves against the great evil that scours the land.

Basically Ruby, Yang, Weiss and Blake end up in the Rouge Encampment and decide to form a party together to battle Diablo and his demons. The plot would follow Diablo II.

I did consider having Team RWBY fall into Sanctuary but I ended up thinking them being born into Sanctuary would be better. The key would be Diablofying Team RWBYs weapons.

Obviously Ruby would have a scythe and be lightly armoured. I don't know what weapon Yang would have besides it being heavy but she would be heavily armoured and have some skills in fire magic. Weiss would be a mage of some sort. Blake would be lightly armoured like Ruby but I have no idea what weapons she would use - something light and quick probably.

 

I'm thinking the Diablo 3 Monk class would be the closest fit for Yang?

Would read the shit out of that fic.

I had an idea once, for a Lord of the Rings story. It was going to be set prior to the War of the Rings, by roughly fifty or sixty years, and it was going to have a Dunlending as the main character.

I've always had a soft-spot for them, viewing them as the Celts or Bretons in comparison to the Numenorian Rome or the Rhovanion Anglo-Jute-Saxon mixture. As a result, this protag was going to have something of an Arthurian touch to him, though not as you might thing.

He was basically going to be a boy who was a part a wolf's head group (outlaws) as a result of his heritage (martilineally descended from the Dead Men of Dunharrow, a taboo subject to many of the Dunlending), that came across Aragorn during his time as a warrior in Rohan in an ambush. Most of the Rohirrim die, most of the outlaws die, and it's an injured Aragorn and protag, who would be a very sickly, not healthy boy due to his mother's bloodline's curse to survive until they reach civilization (Aragorn sensing and relying on protag's better nature to do so). As they do so, protag is picking up some sense of the healing arts from Aragorn, getting taught that much so that Aragorn's wounds can be tended to in the interim (in part fulfilling the expectation that the Dunharrow folk must serve Isildur's line). Eventually they get back over the Fords of the Isen, and Aragorn is returned to friendlier folk. Protag sticks around a bit, unsure what to do now that he's helped an enemy of his people get safe and now he's in straw-head territory.

Aragorn by now has picked up something of the kid's heritage, and elects to take him on as a squire*, curious to see what might actually come of it. Protag grows up under Aragorns tutelage, fighting in Rohan and Gondor against the Men of Darkness and accruing military experience, friends, slowly improving health, etc...

After fifteen years of this, he asks for and gets his release from Aragorn's service, hoping to return home to the Dunland and bring his people out of their perpetual blood feud with the Rohirrim. Manages to parlay his accumulated wealth and martial skill into a marriage with a clan's daughter, and begins rising in esteem in the clan's heirachy.

From there, the story would slowly go to him uniting the clans under his leadership, skirmishes with Orc and Goblins from the Mountains and Isengard before the War of the Ring. The skirmishes would transition into a war of extinction at Saruman's behest, the mountain orcs and goblins and his own Uruk-hai slowly driving the Dunlandings west to the Enedwaith, while trying to draw the Rohirrim out against them while his own army grows.

From there it gets a little hazy, but I figured he'd have a strong feature in the segments of the War in Rohan, culminating in the battle of the Hornburg, where he goes to battle one last time as an old man, dying in battle because he wanted to fight for Aragorn, dying thinking his dream of a Dunland together was lost.

Epilogue would be between Aragorn, Eomer and Protag's son/daughter after the end of the war, with Aragorn confirming the formation of a new and independent Dunland, it's lands bounded by the Isen, the Swanfleet and the Minihiriath.

*Pippin was a squire, so the concept exists in some way in the Numenorian traditions.

Inspired by Steelbadger excellent stories, I was thinking about an Eragon/LOTR crossover. Eragon's universe is quite cliché, but has interesting ideas and locatuons. It support characters range from bland to damn good, with Saphira being simply too good to be there.

It's main flaw is the author opinion, the boring cliché plot and SI (Eragon, obviously), ao why not use the most unique, flawed and tragic of Tolkien's creation? Túrin Turambar story is amazing and tragic, a true epic. His character is deep, with his mistakes showcasing Humanity deeply flawed nature. My idea goes like this:

Túrin is ready to take his own life, burdened by his great sins, Morgoth curse hitting him harder than any other of his House. However, Ilúvatar decides to give him a secnd chance, a fresh start so that he may prove the worthy of his last adopted name. Before the deadly blow hits him, he is transported to a strange land. Ritght in front of surprised Eragon.

Eragon sees in this strange tall man someone sent by the Gods, to help,him fullfill his dream of being hero. Turin is perplexed and enraged at being denied what he sees as his freedom, but does not dares to defy what he sees as Eru wish. He first rebukes Eragon, and lives in the wild, until he is attacked by monstrous spiders, huge and deformed. After slayimg them, he recognises Ungoliant's spawn and what this implicate. He seeks out the boy, and in exchange to be taught the language and history of this strange land, he would teach the boy how to fight.

Then amid one of these meeting Saphira's egg appears, and it hatches fo Turin. Turin sees only the face of his mortal enemy, and tries to kill the baby dragon. Eragon stops him, and barely convices him to not kill her. An uneasy living is stabilished, with Turin ignoring it and Eragon feeding and telling her all of his glory dreams. Even when Sapphira learns how to speak they mostly ignore each other, with neither forgetting the past. All change when the Ra'Zac kill Garrow and destroy the farm. Eragon is devasted, with Saphira and Turin deciding to form an uneasy alliance to help the boy with his quest for vengeance.

 

You'd have to tweak the rules of Eragon canon, otherwise Saphira never would have hatched for Turin.

 

Stargate: SG1

It's 1969. SG1 fail in their attempt to reach the stargate in storage and are arrested. The four are separated for several weeks as they are interrogated under the belief they are Soviet spies. Despite the interrogation none of them crack and thankfully they don't discover that Tea'lc is an alien.

Eventually their interrogators decide to give the old tried and true method of discovering what spies know; they allow the four of them contact with eachother and secretly record what they discuss.

Assuming the many worlds theory and it's implications on time travel, SG1 decide their capture has already mucked up the timeline enormously and tell their interrorgators the trueth; that they're time travelers and they travel to other planets through the device they were captured near.

Their interrogators mostly consider it ridiculous but someone through a search of the archives finds notes and video from the 1945 experiments on the gate. Their insane sounding confessions start sounding more plausible.

Using the video footage and note as a reference, the US military manages to dial the stargate to Ernest's Planet. The military doesn't send anyone through but they do bring SG1 in on the fact along with a younger Cathrine Langford who had unsuccessfully been lobbying the US government to research the stargate for many years.

From there the SGC is founded many years early; at the height of the Vietnam War.

I want these.

 

A Mass Effect 3 fic that focuses on the stories you overhear all over the Citadel.

A C-Sec Turian officer that establishes a friendship with a human teenager after she is left stranded on the Citadel Docks, waiting for parents that may never come. An elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease that confuses an Asari clerk with her daughter in law. Marines, drowning their guilt in alcohol for leaving a member of their squad behind. Human and Batarian refugees recounting their experiences regarding the Reaper invasion on their respective planets. An Asari commando with PTSD. A couple of nurses on Huerta Memorial Hospital talking about the horrors they've seen, how tired they are and how they are taking extra shifts because it is not like they sleep at night anyways.

The stories are pretty self contained on the game itself but they could be expanded as a series of connected one-shots. Perhaps more detailed retellings of the Reaper attacks or one of the nurses extra shifts as a fully developed chapter.

 

SCP Foundation and SG1

That's all I have right now but damn that sounds like something that would have enormous potential to me.

 

I'm sitting here, it's 1 AM, and I have the strong urge to write something stupid and lulzy. Fanfiction kind of has its own Rule 34 - there are no original ideas. So, I threw that challenge at my brain, and this is what it spit out -

Harbinger from Mass Effect ASSUMES DIRECT CONTROL of Bella from Twilight. For maximum lulz there would have to be some reason why he didn't just kill everyone immediately, because I fucking can't stop laughing at the Twlight characters being so dumb that they only think Bella's acting slightly strange.

Uh...

Okay, brain, go to sleep, you are drunk.

Dark Tower/Game of Thrones.

Roland is shunted into the North after passing through one of the many, many doors filling Midworld through to Endworld. Stranded one-way in a land of constant winter, short of bullets yet surrounded by iron, with the dead brought back to life at his every turn, how will the last Gunslinger survive in a place reminiscent of the days of Arthur Eld so long before? Will he take to the sword so easily as his guns?

Just a lazy few minutes yesterday refining a previous lazier effort a week or so before. FYI I'm still mid-way through Dark Tower #7 so no spoilers please and thank you. This is assuming Roland is between #2 and #6ish when he is sent to Westeros.

 

SG1/Tomb Raider

Due to the closeness of US and British special forces groups the British start hearing rumors of the Stargate. Eventually with a bit of digging and some friendly espionage the British confront the Americans with evidence that the Stargate is real and they want in on the program. The Americans are both short in money and personnel for the program so they let the British in.

Quickly the British shortlist who is going to make up their new SG teams and of course, why wouldn't they choose an (amateur?) archeologist, peer, and part time operative for the Secret Intelligence Service to lead their first team?

 

Game of Thrones.

Jon Snow dies at the Wall in the course of his duties, and is reincarnated... as his own direwolf, in the distant past. He is forced to watch events unfold that he knows he could have prevented had he been able to physically act as a man, but as a wolf cub, his every futile attempt to warn the Starks and the past-Jon Snow away from tragedy fails, and drives him into seclusion away from those around him. His only hope is to learn to communicate with the younger Jon, and through that untried boy, disrupt the future of the Westeros he knows is coming.

Bran's three-eyed crow may or may not sabotage Ghost-Jon's attempts to ensure Bran comes north of the Wall.

 

Macabre and Madness - The Presidency of Gomez Addams.

1964 - Gomez Addams wins the election instead of Lyndon B. Johnson and becomes the 36th President of the United States of America.

The USA is changed over time into a dark, gothic nation, with vampires, werewolves, witches and many other strange things becoming commonplace.

 

That would be both a terrifying and wonderful outcome. I'd love to see what an Addams America would look like. Perhaps it'd have similarities to the Alexandra Quick fanfiction series.

More interesting than that is what would happen to the rest of the world. Without LBJ does the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution get passed and the Vietnam War ramped up with over half a million troops on the ground. If not, then how does a lack of the Vietnam War change America's future.

And how about the rest of the world? Does the Cold War Containment strategy against communism continue, change, or end. If Vietnam is ceded to communist ideology without American resistance, then does the spread of red continue? An Addams-ish American war machine in the jungles of south east asia... what a monstrosity to unleash on the world.

 

On the plus side, US-French relations would never be better.
