It's got potential, I'll give you that, if the writer gets his shit together. It's got some momentum, but the quality of writing could improve a hell lot more. I liked Itachi's characterization too.

 

A story search request: I remember reading at least one story where Naruto let shadow clones live too long and they started getting more and more independent. Culminating in one (or more?) of them trying to avoid being dispelled at all costs and even starting to work against the original.

Does anyone remember which story that was? I found Nurture by Palindrome, but that one is different and not the one I remember.

 

I recall a story with long-lived clones, but I can't be sure it's the correct one for ya. Always a chance, though.

What a terrifying coincidence you should mention that story. I was literally just re-reading it. Years after having written it. I just finished reading it again, was contemplating writing more of it, clicked over to this thread, and saw it mentioned.

Huh. Maybe this is a hint from the universe.

 

Read your post and thought that a hefty part of the story had been written. Devoured the first two chapters and then briefly considered suicide when I realized that's all there was.

Please write more.

 

Roarian's The Leaf's Naruto also had such a plot point.

 

Road Trip at the End of the World An interesting one-shot by Zenthisoror, it's almost a character study, with an interesting premise and conclusion. Well-written, and experimental.

 

Hokage By Necessity by Evil Is A Relative Term

It has been some time since a Naruto story gripped me like that. Yeah, it's after the manga, Naruto is Hokage and is doing, as expected, a sub-par job of ruling. Yeah, he is charismatic and likeable but paperwork and all? Not really his interest, so it is Sakura who is de facto administrating the village and its affairs. Then something happens and Sakura has to lead.

The village and its politics are represented nicely and in a refreshing manner, I like the characterization of all the characters, especially Sakura.

Something happens later on that I am still on the fence on, it might be a jump the shark for some and the grammar, at times, is weak, in terms of typos and stuff, but overall, decently written and a refreshing story that I haven't seen.

 

Eh, it was well-written, but I didn't like the beginning - it felt a bit too convenient, what with Naruto having the Kyuubi and all. And the author, even though (s)he charactarizes well, is obviously a Sakura fan. It irked me that Naruto's automatically a bad Hokage, because people can't change as they grow older and pass through wars. With that logic, Shikamaru is obviously the premier choice for Hokage, because Sakura's also highly emotional and impulsive. Maybe I'll go back to it when I'm bored later. For now, it's a decent story, but it's not for me.

Read forward and nope. Kakashi declares her as 'lower than trash' when he gets a small message about her ascension. Even with limited information, this isn't at all the man who becomes the sixth hokage in canon - again, somebody who's passed over immediately here.

From 3 to 2.25/5.

Speaking of Sakura-centric fics, I finally got around to reading Effloresco Secundus, a HP/Naruto cross which has been recommended in this thread a few times before (By @Sn0rkack first I believe) which involves Hermione being reincarnated as Sakura.

Usually a Naruto cross is a big fat warning sign, especially one that has someone from a different universe coming to the Naruto one (can't actually recall a single one I've liked). But this actually turned out pretty well.

It's not just a fic about Hermione/Sakura dominating the world, but how her inclusion in Team Seven causes a different character development for Naruto and Sasuke. There's a different teamwork dynamic that builds and the interactions within the team are really enjoyable to read.

The plot goes a unique way storyline wise, with a different C-rank mission instead of Wave and a slightly different Chuunin exam (which has been quite well so far).

It does a decent enough job of not over exaggerating Hermione's past either. She's a grown, mature woman who fought in a war and the story doesn't let you forget that, but at the same time it doesn't try to diminish the violence of the Shinobi world either. Even if Hermione/Sakura at times believes it is the case.

Good example would be when she initially scoffs at Ibiki's scars, thinking that she probably had a lot more than him, only to completely retract that thought when Ibiki pulls off his bandana.

My only real worry is that while Hermione's magic so far has been highly limited, accidentally and hard for her to pull off, as she works out a way to actually be able to harness it again, she may become too powerful and just shoot past the rest of Team 7.

But yeah, enjoying it so far and would second that recc.

It's a weird one. The story was okay, a few problems but nothing worth closing the tab over, and then that bs started.

 

As I said, at some point, things are introduced that might be dealbreakers for some, and rightly so, but when it comes to Naruto fics, novelty is pretty much the thing I am looking for the most and having Sakura as a Hokage was definitely that. Granted, I wished there were no foxes and no reincarnation bullshit, because the rest was pretty interesting.

It's why I will never put it up for review, but for the Naruto thread? Yeah, that it can do.

 

Does not surprise me in light of her other story, Five Kingdoms for the Dead, which is interesting, if only for the fact that it's a sort of counterpart to the usual (male) wish-fulfillment harem fantasy.

 

That doesn't make it interesting at all.

 

This is something that is really prevalent in manga, the harem of pretty boys that is, so it is not even original. I tried reading the story, and pressed the red x quickly

There have been harem shows for decades, this is just a market change because of how influential the fujoshi market has become.
