I think I read somewhere once that DF abilities are limited most by the imagination of the user. This seems to be true for the most part. DFs don't really have a hard limit on what they can do. His abilities are outlandish because he's thought of a ton of ways to use his fruit. I imagine that if he knew it was possible Buggy could control himself down the atomic level and would become a pseudo logia who can make atomic explosions.

I agree with this. The chapter was all over the place, imo. A bit rushed. I think Oda could have spread the goods better (maybe even in multiple chapters). As is, he didn't capitalize on the various plot-twists as much as he could have.

Don't put science into it or you'll go mad. But seriously, I think you might be referring to what Crocodile said in one of the Alabasta fights against Luffy. That a skilled DF user will train his ability so as to do more than what its immediately-apparent effect does. With that in mind, I'd compare Doflamingo's more outlandish power to Mr. 0's ability to suck water from the ground and stuff, which is a bit out there as well.

I gotta say i'm rather surprised this chapter. I thought Sabo was on the way to deal with Trebol so Luffy could fight Doflamingo unhindered but it seems like that's no longer necessary.

Unless it's gonna be Sabo vs Burgess but we didn't see any sign of Burgess being in the palace and I thought for sure Koala called Sabo from seeing Doflamingo+Trebol fuck Law up.

Anyway, getting hype for this fight.

sabo may be the one who fights off Fujitora after doflamingo is dead, because you know he's gonna swoop in at Luffy after it/doffy if doffy survives.

The World Nobles don't want Don alive and Law is trying to kill him as well. Short of escaping I don't know if Don will make it out of this alive.

What? Not at all. First off Sabo ALREADY fought Fujitora. Fujitora changed sides and is no longer helping Doflamingo. He's not going to go after the Pirates after everything is said and done now. His plan for maximum damage caused by Doflamingo while also keeping the civilians accounted for is done.

Now its just time to keep the civilians safe and let the pirates deal with Doflamingo. He said as much quite a few chapters back.

Also, anyone check out the One Piece Party chapter? It's pretty good for a laugh. Funny how a One Piece gag chapter is better than Fairy Tail's main chapters.

We all knew it was coming. Doesn't make it any less epic though :D

Aaand hiatus next week, as is to be expected.

God, sometimes these chapter endings just leave me dead inside. I overload on hype and anticipation and am left dead.

I was recently bored as hell and decided to reread/skip the Impel Down and Marineford stuff. Some of the chapters (Mr. 2, Ace or Garp vs Luffy) still get to me and the big shots are always fun to read, so whoever needs a dose of One Piece should go back to those chapters. I didn't regret it.

Someone...please get me Mansherry..my heart has stopped.

The great thing about Gear 4th is that it could be anything. A lot of people are speculating Luffy might condense himself to become harder(which helps defensively as well as offensively) because Doflamingo was pointing out Luffy was fast, but his power was lacking(which definitely is some degree of bravado since Luffy's Red Hawk made him cough up blood but still).

I also have a great fear that when One Piece does come back in 2 weeks, it's gonna cut to like, Sanji and the other Strawhats or something.

If they cut to Sanji, I'd be just fine with it. I miss Sanji. D:

I think Red Hawk only did such damage because he took him completely off guard. Getting hit when he has time to haki up would be a world of difference.

lol, how does that make any other fight any different? Of course being caught off guard means more damage. It's the same way for Doflamingo attacking Luffy. He only takes damage when he's caught off guard.

I like this speculation on Gear Four from a few months ago.

Did I miss the part where Luffy got to know Cabbage well enough to entrust people to him? I know they were in the Arena together, but I don't recall any real connection between them.

And besides, isn't Zoro there? Or is he in a different location?

It looked to me like it was a way to make him not interfere with the fight. It was basically Luffy catering to his ego.

Zoro is somewhere else but Robin was right there.

That would make sense to me for a lot of protagonists, but it doesn't seem like a typical thought process for Luffy in particular. But it's a good point regardless.

In the same forum was the mention of vulcanization and Red Hawk being a pre-step to Gear 4, which would actually fit with the rubber-theme. Gear 2 was already heat and pressure and Gear 4 could be the next step with actual flames. To make it interesting Luffy has to constantly concentrate and use haki, otherwise he burns himself.

They traveled together on Cabbage's horse for a while. Luffy doesn't really need to know people well before trusting them. I think he invited Brooke to the crew like 15 seconds after meeting him. Cabbage probably impressed Luffy when he showed such care for his horse.

I'd say there's a difference between being on your guard and actively defending. On your guard is like the fight Franky just had.

I am so fucking excited for Gear 4th. We haven't seen anything new from the Straw Hats in fucking ages.
