Is it a cliche when it's true? At least where it concerns Cersei, Joffrey and Tywin.

I dunno how it's handled, and I don't like speking for others, but he probably means a lot of cartoonish evil across the board like Joff, and less the subtle, ruthless, manipulative kind like the others.

I wouldn't call it cliche though, just poor writing.

As for Spartans on Westeros. HOW DO THEY RELOAD?! lol, you've gotta run out of bullets sometime!

Sheogorath is the Daedric Prince you're thinking of, the Prince of Madness to be exact. And that would make for an interesting story.

As for the DLC, all you could do was get one to land then ride it along a fixed path. You couldn't control them at all, unfortunately.

I've never really read anything from this fandom. Any suggestions on something to start with?

Depends on what you're looking for really. Here's one of my absolute favorites:

Dresden File crossover on Spacebattles for anyone interested: A Song of Ice and Fires that Weren't All My Fault

Some grammatical issues here and there. The author has a tendency to have two people speak in the same paragraph in the beginning, but the author has gotten better at that.

Decent exposition, but the dialog is stilted enough to be a Spider-Man villain

I'd like to read a Sansa-centric time travel story, if such exists.

No such thing, I believe. The closest thing I ever came across had Sansa, Arya and Jon (I think it was Jon or maybe it was Rickon and Bran, fuck I can't remember) coming back, back before it all went to shit, and what's the first thing Sansa and Arya do? They try to kill Theon. Hilarious.

Can't remember which fic that was, but I think it was on AO3.

The youngest Starks start over by CDA on alternate history and Salomon I think on AO3.

    That's the one, indeed.

Ah, Salamon2. I'd forgotten about him, to be quite frank.

While some of his stories had potential, it all started to get far too convoluted for my tastes.

I have stumbled upon a few fics set during the tourney at Harrenhal, lately. None of them good, mind you, not worth recommending, but it struck me how many of them had Lyanna-sue and Robert Baratheon being a sort of horrible rapist. It has left a bitter taste in my mouth, and now I am looking for fics in which Robert's character is at least decent, be it as a main character or not.

Also, I'm still looking for Jon Snow raised in Dorne fics.

Good luck with that search, Robert-bashing tends to be the norm for ASOIAF, while Lyanna can do no wrong. It's quite astounding how many authors can't even begin to imagine that a younger Robert would be nothing like the older Robert, who was married to Cersei for many years.

It never ceases to amaze me though. If Martin is good at one thing besides world-building, it's constructing characters who are in a moral gray area. Most of them have good traits, but are horrible human beings or vice versa. Robert is portrayed as a drunk oaf, easy to anger, and with a tendency to react violently to most situations, yes. But he is also a good friend to Eddard, loyal to his own, and has a strong sense of justice. It's the same reason it is hard for most to feel sorry for Cersei, because despite being abused, and a dotting mother, she's batshit insane and a nasty, sociopathic cunt.

I don't get how someone can take all that characterization and throw it down the drain replacing it with black and white, mary-sue-ish bullshit and be proud of it.

They're just bad writers. It's not as if there's a secret conspiracy to populate the internet with terrible characterizations of ASOIAF characters.

I just read Solomon2 story of the Stark children coming back in time and in trying to fix things, throw pretty much everything into chaos. I'm wondering if anyone has any rec of the same sort? We see a lot of going back in time with HP (quite easy to explain with the magic), but I haven't seen much of the same with ASOIAF (at least not done well).

    Anyone?

There's Snowfall which is about Jon Snow going back in time after being stabbed on the Wall. It's pretty average, all things considered, but has potential.

"He bled out on the snowy grounds of the Night's Watch, not expecting to wake again. But he did wake, and it was not in the forlorn outreaches of the Wall, but back at Winterfell, where King Robert Baratheon was a day's ride away… Old Nan had always warned against changing fate, but how can Jon refuse a chance to prevent the game of thrones?"
