Written in Reverse's Sasuke = Yuno Gasai. I guess we know how WiR ends now, boys - Sasuke kills everyone, and then herself, and makes Naruto the god of the new world.

Anyone reading the new manga Happiness? A sort of creepy take on vampires, I think. Pretty interesting so far but only 4 chapters are out, I believe.

Some new(ish) recommendations, this time with pictures!

    Rookies
    [IMG]

Basically GTO meets shounen sports manga. It hits all the key points while being an engaging read.

    Dead Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction
    [IMG]

The latest manga by Inio Asano. Strong characters, great art, awesome story, and very depressing.

    Sumire 16-sai
    [IMG]

One of the most heartfelt manga I've read. Absurd as all hell, but the core will leave you the warm and fuzzies.

    Nickelodeon
    [IMG]

There isn't a contiguous story in this one; each chapter is a stand-alone tale. Bizarre is the best word to describe Nickelodeon, so if that is your jam you should check it out.

I read Rookies years and years ago. It's an interesting take on the shounen sports genre.

Bit sketchy on the details now, but basic premise was a bunch of delinquents on a baseball team who just fucked around all day. Someone starts pushing for them to actually form a serious team. The focus isn't really on the sports aspect and more on the character development. How characters end up actually being motivated as they go along, how things like bad losses cause a complete reversal and lead to bad habits (like attacking the other team), etc. There were some really interesting people in there.

I do remember getting a bit bored in the later chapters though.

    Kimi no Iru Machi
-Terrible, TERRIBLE manga, but enjoyable since it has you raging so much.
    Fuuka (also by Seo Kouji)
-Same as reasons above, but taken further.
    Prisma Illya + 2wei + 3rei
    -Warning for Lewd Loli
-For those of you who enjoy the Fate series and I suppose Nasuverse in general
-A nice magical girl spin-off for those of you who wanted to see more of Illya.
Gokukoku no Brynhildr/Brynhildr in the Darkness
-If you remember Elfen Lied and enjoyed it, you will like this. It's Elfen Lied 2.0 by the same author.
Hoshi no Samidare/Wakusei no Samidare/Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer
-Really good. Parts of it will have you in tears. It also does a lot to subvert tropes and cliches.
    Shinya Shokudou
-A nice slice of life, healing manga.
    Ubel Blatt/Evil Blade
-For those of you who enjoy seinen.
    Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata
-Going into this, I didn't expect much. As I continued to read, I began to greatly enjoy the interactions between the characters. That the author is female and actually knows how to draw cute girls helps too.
    Samurai Papa
-Cute, but hilariously erotic at the same time.

The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer is one of my favorite manga of all time.

That said, for Ubel Blatt I'd put it more as "for those of you who enjoy battle shonen with shota on older woman sex with lots of blood and tits." I was not a real fan.

    Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!

About a girl who loves a guy, but he sees her as his buddy. It is pretty funny, and it pretty much updates daily.

    I love you.
    ...
    I know.
That was a much better description than the one I used in my post.

    More recs:
    Aho girl
-Manga about a ridiculously stupid girl and her antics while her childhood friend tries to rein in her insanity.
    Oyasumi Punpun
    -Really depressing.
    Kare Kano/His and Her circumstances
    -Old, but good.
    Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki
-Comfy manga about a Japanese salaryman who sits down to play a VRMMO.

A serious warning for those going into this blind...

    - In terms of story feel, it's completely different from the rest of the Nasuverse. Be warned.
    - It has a tendency to sexualize preteen girls. I usually try to skip through it, but it's there... And super weird.

    - That said, the fight scenes are rad as hell, and there's actually something of an interesting story to it.

I feel like this doesn't even need to be a warning when talking about anime.

I feel like it definitely has to. It bothers me enough as it is, without being blindsided by it.

Tomo-Chan is a fun little manga. I can't decide whether I actually enjoyed the content or just the 4-koma format.

Can also second the reqs for Rookies! and Kare Kano. Fun fact, Kimi ni Iru Machi was my first manga. Was veeeeery nearly my last. Avoid in my honest opinion.

I just finished Orange, which is a sweet and at times sad shoujo manga, about a girl who receives a letter from her 27-year old self.

A random req I'll throw in is Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan, which is a 1-volume manga while is just beautiful. Very sad, but worth it.

    Tomo-Chan is pretty sweet.

I'm also having a guilty pleasure at 4 Cut Hero. It's cliched and dumb and stupidly pervy at times but it still makes me laugh quite a bit

    Thought this deserved a mention.

The author of Soul Eater has published his follow-up monthly series. It's called Fire Brigade of Flames. It's actually very nice; never read a series that tied itself to firemen.

Ditto for Deadman Wonderland, but I never really followed it -- the new one is called Smokin' Paradise, and it's just as bleak and dark.

Still, very early days, but something to keep an eye on.

Also, not sure if this has been mentioned, but Happiness has been a balls wonderful read. It's a slow-burner vampire story that de-constructs the usual vampire tropes. It only started this year, and it's a monthly series as well, so there's not that much to binge on.

I strongly recommend Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan.

It's a short series, only 8 chapters long, but it's complete. It's about two people, a young man on death row and a young woman suffering from depression and suicidal tendencies, their inner struggles and how each affects the other.

It's not grimdark, it actually has a pretty positive message to tell, even if the medium through which it does so is sad. The art is very good, the characters are believable and likeable, it didn't needlessly drag on, and by the end I was honestly touched.

8-9/10 on my score. Strongly recommend you try it out.
