Anything else besides Team 7?

 

Hmm. Lost Souls comes to mind if you're looking for war-hungry Konoha, and it's a Naruto-focus story. Whether it's a good fanfic is debatable though.

If you've never read it before and want to give it a shot, things don't really get interesting until Chapter 13.

 

I'm sorry. No. Six year old super-ninja Dark!Naruto just does not appeal. This is like all those Dark!Harry Fanfics where he goes all super emo-evil because of the Dursleys and turns into Tom Riddle the Second, complete with earlier, stronger, more intuitive grasp of magic.

LD 1449 is a big fan of angst and grimdark worlds where shit goes down hill rapidly and rarely seems to look up at all. Most of his stories can be guaranteed to revolve around some AU element that adds about 20 ranks of depressing to the Naruto Story and/or world.

On top of that, his writing leaves a lot to be desire in the style sense. It's not the most egregious, but something about it is grating and rough.

I've never been able to finish any of his several 'epic length' stories because of it.

 

Guilty pleasure. I like it, though I can see how it would turn a lot of people off.

 

I agree, Lost Souls was good for it's time but it's nothing more than nostalgia and a guilty pleasure now.

Yeah this story turned to shit as soon as the author introduced the OC "other" kyuubi jinchuriki, who is never mentioned at all 1/5

I remember that. The fic was a bit cringe worthy before that, but readable. Once the author tried to drop that into the story I just closed the tab and never looked back.

 

Have there been any new readable stories lately outside of DLP after Naruto ended? I'm interested in how people are adapting the Asura/Indra stuff.

 

Well, when you say then I can't help but think of Written in Reverse. I'd expect most stories to ignore the Asura/Indra angle but Menace just rolls with it.

There's also The Milieu which is an epilogue-compliant slice-of-life fic. Same guy who wrote Naruto and his Uzumaki Heritage if anyone here's read that. It's a nice little fic focusing on Naruto and Sarada.

Genetics

Sasuke reflects on the ultimate Uchiha curse: that of being really, really, ridiculously good-looking. One man's journey to protect his children from their own physical attractiveness.

 

That is hilarious. It's only 6.4k words, but it had me chuckling for most of it. It's not amazing, but it's a funny little thing that's nice to pass the time with.

 

It's funny enough to make you forget that while the characters are named Sasuke and Sakura, there is literally nothing about them that is in character.

I'd give it a 3/5, if only because 2/5 seems a bit too low.

 

I never thought I will say this about anything... but this fic was(at the risk of sounding politically incorrect)gay.

The first ten odd paragraphs were all abou how pretty Sasuke is, how pretty Sakura is and how pretty his kids will turn out to be and the next ten dealt with how he was going to deal with their prettiness. Then it plays on the overprotective father trope. The deal-breaker turned out to be when the 5 year old daughter said she was in love and the parents instead of treating it like a kiddish infatuation that it is, go all nuclear over it. Sasuke on his daughter and Sakura on Sasuke. I mean is that meant to be funny?

Which is where I gave up any hope of this fic appealing to me. A joke isn't funny if you can see the punchline coming from a mile away.
I don't know... what am I missing here?

Okay I will admit it. It ended well. The last couple of paragraphs were actually funny. Still... it just plays on cliches till then.
