Joffrey hate I can understand, like Ramsay he's a sadist with no redeeming qualities. Cersei and Catelyn tho they're very complex and interesting characters.

To be perfectly honest, Catelyn is my favorite character in the series. I admit Michelle Fairley did a great job portraying her but I could understand the way she thinks very clearly from a traditional view point.

People seem to think that just because you're watching/reading something with every point of view imaginable you can assume a character is dumb etc. but from their point of view, with things they're aware of , they do what they can with the hand they're dealt with.

Same, though for me it was because Odran wouldn't shut up about how much he hated her.

Yes i'll immediately arrest this tyrion guy for pushing my son because i have so much evidence that he really did it. Look at this knife it's definitely his baelish said so he wouldn't lie.

There definitely won't be any repercussions to this even though my husband and children are all alone in the south without any allies but their men who are outnumbered.

It's not like this person i'm arresting is important to anyone. He's just the son of tywin lannister. Who hates him for being a dwarf. He wouldn't give a damn right.

This is such a wise decision i should pat myself in the back.

(P.S. I don't hate Catelyn, I just think she fucked up with this one.)

First of all thank you Jon for fixing that.

Secondly I have to admit I didn't read the books, tho I do know almost everything that's happened so far so don't diss what I'm saying too quickly.

I always thought that Catelyn's arresting of Tyrion was a spur of the moment decision. I can imagine that she, seeing the one who sent an assassin after her son drinking and having fun at a tavern, couldn't accept it. Tyrion isn't exactly the most modest person so I can imagine why she grew angrier even.

One other thing is that she's a very devout and strict person, so her taking Tyrion to Eyrie to be judged where they didn't have good feelings for Lannisters, is perfectly logical from her point of view.

I don't recall if Ned tried this, but did he even attempt to get his kids out of King's Landing before he made his move? Even if he was sure everything was fine he should've put them on a ship to White Harbor. The war might've went a bit differently if Robb didn't have to worry about saving his sisters.

Well that was the plan until Sansa told Cersei, I think?

Even GRRM says that Sansa is partially responsible for Ned's death. If she hadn't betrayed his plan to send her and Arya away to safety, the story couldn't have possibly unfolded the way it did. For starters, Cersei wouldn't have set her plan into motion at that point (remember that Robert actually died two days after she claimed he did) and she wouldn't have had Sansa to use as leverage to force Ned into making a false confession. Without that false confession, he wouldn't have been at Baelor to be killed. In fact, he would have likely been alive when news of Jaime's capture reached the capital and Ned would have been traded for him. So that one choice of Sansa's (which any spoiled eleven year old in her position might have made regardless of gender) did have a strong impact on the plot, which included Ned's murder.

That said, I don't dislike Sansa for it. It was a mistake that she more than paid for and she is far from the only charater to make mistakes.

Don't want to be the party pooper and all, but can we link good ASOIAF stories instead of discussing canon (about which I think there are already several threads)? It's been too long without someone asking Cxjenious when he's going to update, mand I am in dire need of reading something good from the fandom.

This is the second reason why Sansa gets so much hate after the Trident incident. It wasn't just Arya who she screwed it was everyone from Winterfell who came south with them who died as a result of her going to Cercei.

Eddard had a plan it didn't survive contact with the Sansa.

May not be everyone's cup of tea. Takes place sometime after ADWD. The author hasn't really revealed what happened after the events of Dance. Instead it picks up with Sansa and Bran already having taken back Winterfell and Dany in the south as queen (but she's not in it so far). It's going to be a Gendry/Arya fic so that may kill it for some ppl. What I don't like is that Winterfell has become the home of a few major characters such as Jaime and Asha. No idea why they are there.

Depending on the model/your carrier, you might be able to tack MiFi onto your plan. Then your shitty phone could provide internet for your laptop! That, or steal someone else's wireless.

Alternatively, just ask your neighbours, before trying to crack a WEP (are people still using that?) password.

Or just write on your laptop even without internet access, and later go to a public wifi spot when uploading a chapter or scene. Plenty of writers intentionally stay offline when writing to avoid distraction anyway.

No, you got it right. "The Open Way" went the "Holy fuck, what now?" route more than a dozen or two chapters ago. That last Elia and Rhaegar chapter was quite something.

I've no fucking clue how he intends to wrap this story up.

Snowfall was updated, then the author announced he/she? will be GRRMing...

AO3 crashed just after I read the update, not sure when it'll be fixed.
    EDIT: AO3 was on again

I dunno man, authors can do that because it's their own world. I'm pretty knowledgeable on the fandoms I write in but when doing fanfiction you kinda need access to wikis and stuff to keep things consistent. It's especially true of the big sprawling fantasy settings like LotR or aSoIaF.

I might be able to tell you the outline of the story of Good Queen Alysanne and her New Gift to the Night's Watch but I couldn't tell you when that happened without consulting the internet. Or my copy of a World of Ice and Fire.
