Cast the Little Prince by Tsume Yuki: Regulus Arcturus Black dies a tragic death in a cave, trying to stop Voldemort. The Fates decide he deserves another chance for his heroic efforts. He is reincarnated, as Harry Potter. Now armed with the memories of his past life and mistakes he sets out to stop Voldemort and change the Wizarding World.

Decent time waster. Kinda reminds me of the Firewhisky Time Travel fic posted earlier. Good writing, quite a few clichés, a rather OP main character and enjoyable character interactions. 3 chapters in and at 23k words, it seems perfect for this thread.

Gabrielle Delacour makes a spontaneous decision that changes her entire life. Unfortunately, the consequences are permanent. - Set during and after fourth year

Well written and interestingly depressing take on the Veela soul bond. Oneshot.
I know how much people hate the soul bond but this one definitely has a refreshing take on it.

It isn't terrible, but it suffers from the usual problem of one-shots that exist only to subvert a cliché: the bulk of the story is just the setup that I've read a bunch of times already with the only actual substance in the last quarter. It's hard to write a payoff good enough to make that worth it, and this story didn't even really try.

I'm really enjoying the recent chapters of Travel Secrets: Third by E4mj

    https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10139565/1/Travel-Secrets-Third

It's a shame you have to read 2 and a half stories worth of garbage to get there, but the author seems to have hit a bit of a stride now that Harry seems to be entering the real world and finding he can't just muscle through it like schoolyard politics. Harry's still absurdly OP, but Voldemort was seemingly just as good at his age without the time travel so hopefully it translates to a more powerful villain also.

I'm not sure how recommendable the story is but I'm pretty sure I originally picked it up from this thread so if anyone else managed to soldier through the start then it's picked itself up quite a bit.

I'm also following this (guilty pleasure fic) and put up a review thread.

It won't win any awards, but at least it's still updating.

Completely agree - it's a decentish deconstruction, as they come, but that's not saying much.

I'd partly expected the final scene to be dosing each other with Amortentia or something.

Awesome I thought it was hilarious. I love the chaos at the ministry A peeve of mine though "True Slytherins go to Gryffindor" Other then that it's great I hope this author keep the updates coming.
3.5 to 4 out of 5 for me.

You weren't kidding, his portrayal is top-notch. Reminds me of just about every veteran, jaded law-enforcement or military person I know and like, and it's awesome. I could read a whole story of nothing but this version of him and Amelia and be perfectly happy.

    4/5 for hilarity.

Rufus is good, but.... here is the review I posted, which summarizes my concerns:

    Pure Wat

So I posted this here, because I recommend all of you to read it and marvel at it. It starts okay-ish-ish(that was not a mistake) and devolve into something that at the border of wat and wtf.

I read the first 2 chapters. If that's the okay-ish-ish before it starts to go downhill, I want nothing to do with the rest of it. And I want those 3 minutes of my life back; that's unreadably awful. Hell, the four-point list of Dudley's advice for internet surfing is probably unforgivable on its own.

It goes into wat in the second chapter. God, and then explaining what all these internet terms mean... ugh. I can't take this seriously. Slightly condescending teenage rebellion littered with pop cultures, internet shit and who knows what else later on.

I got about as far in as Marsupial before wanting to complain about it.

Magic is wish-magic to give the MC AU powers or do whatever the author wants, Harry doesn't spend a few weeks or months using the internet, he had the entire life of a longtime nerd and weeaboo shoved into his head.

Harry is basically the author's SI wish fulfillment and cringey as fuck.

Later, some of the dialogue is actually pretty funny, and some scenes are surprisingly decently written. But you have to endure a lot of stupid, cliched stuff.

Editing again now that I'm mostly done: surprisingly decent if you can ignore the many faults. The beginning is really the worst part. And it's not like the writing itself is trash or anything. I can see how someone might be okay with this. But the pro-muggle stuff, anime powers and teenage rebellious attitude just get too much too many times.

Oh, and the crossovers come out of nowhere and don't fit the earlier part of the fic at all.

Timeline moved a decade because Interwebz, cross with DMC3 and DF because AWSUM... C'mon, man. Everything you need to know about this fic is in the first chapter. I've examined it and found it wanting. It's not even funny in the 'so bad it's good' way. It blows harder than a leafblower.

HP/Sherlock: Interesting premise executed...sort of poorly? Basically, Harry is rescued by Mycroft out of Azkaban and is given a new identity as BBC Sherlock. It then follows this character through the first couple episodes of the BBC series (finding roommate/meeting Watson etc) - which is boring rehash...but I liked the prologue and wish the rest was more interesting.

This one is really gore-y but really entertaining if you don't mind. Basically it's Freddy Kruegar killing off everyone who pisses off Harry.

I think it's got great characterization and pacing.

PotDK never quite caught my mojo either, but lets get back on track.

I found a story that caught my interest for a bit.

Astoria Greengrass wants to set up Harry Potter with her sister, Daphne. But her plans don't really go the way she wants them to. Not your usual Harry/Daphne/Astoria fic. Rated for some language and sexual content.
