This happned to my last week constantly, drop Chromaggus on turn 1, I should get at least 1 card from it. Nope, instant MC'ed next turn.

 

To counter it I tried playing mage and dropping two cheaper minions in the beginning and hope I have spells to counter his. It kinda worked vs most priests.

 

I played miracle rogue just so I could be nostalgic for a bit and destroy any Priests that came my way. MC that stealthed Auctioneer if you can; oh you played something big, I'll give it back to you, because I'm so nice.

First deck that got me to legend and still fun to play, but times have changed.

Another reason why playing Deathwing can lose you the game besides gettiing it bgh'd; your opp can topdeck Void Walker and life tap into Sylvanas for the win!!!

Man, fuck that shit. There's zero counterplay - kills off own minions, has 49 fucking health + armor, and empty board.

 

It takes a lot of setup to get to that point. Pretty much every class has such an otk. The problem is that no other class has as reliable draw mechanics as warrior.

 

Blizzard hammered Miracle Rogue for everything Patron does, except Patron is even better at draw and OTKing than Miracle was.

I suppose they're just saying "Meh, let the new cards deal with it."

Kind of disappointing that they took that route instead of changing such an obviously broken way of playing. I mean, hell, I don't really mind OTKs (mostly? Not too sure), but they should at least stay consistent in how they nerf things.

 

Sure patron requires setup, but it's so good at setting up that it makes that part of the task almost effortless. I've been on both ends of doing over fifty damage at a time after a single thaurrisan activation.

Onto a new topic, what are the first things you'll try after TGT is released?

 

I would love to try out Control Hunter and Rogue if I can get the cards via the packs. I will more than likely craft Varian Wrynn for my Control Warrior deck.

I'm going to do several arena runs with all the cards and pray to RNJesus that I don't receive the classic pack.

Finally I would like to finish ladder at rank 10 and hopefully get a good goldan card.

I pre-ordered packs via a friend, trading wow gold for a gift card.

So mostly going to just go off of what I draw, as I have no intention of spending money on packs beyond that. I do have enough dust to craft a few legendaries, but after seeing the ones released, I'm almost more leaning towards going back and crafting my Tirion and Ysera that I've been eyeing, especially if the meta does slow.

Name another deck that can do 50 dmg from a completely empty board with only one tick of Emperor.

 

Doubt there is one, not on an empty board. Off the top of my head I know Warlock can do 28 and rogue is about the same. But if you want to get theoretical everyone can do it, just leave Ysera on board for a while, get a few Nightmares and voilà.

 

Patron's kill-from-nowhere capabilities are unsurpassed, especially since it requires no set-up, except for Emperor. Even the basic 8 mana combo of Commander/Patron/Rage just wrecks a lot of shit. Most other decks rely on having at least something on the board to work with.

Anyway, a couple of OTK possibilities from other decks:

Worgen OTK Warrior: Worgen (3) + double Rampage (9) + Charge (11) + double Task (16*2) + double Inner Rage (20*2). 14 mana not discounted, 8 cards, 6 of which have a mana cost. You can get 32 for 10 and 6 cards.
Double Force/Savage combo: Double Force (12) + Double Innervate + Double Savage (40). 14 mana, 6 cards with 4 costing mana.
Maly Lock: Malygos + double Darkbomb (16) + double Soulfire (34). 10 mana, 6 cards minimum.
Oil Rogue: Dagger [1*2] + Southsea (2) + double Oil [7*2] (8) + double Deadly [13*2] + Flurry = 34 for 9 mana and 6 cards.
Full discounted Freezemage combo: Thalnos + double Frostbolt (8) + double Ice Lance (18) + double Fireball (32). 9 mana, 7 cards. Can boost to 38, but nobody runs Geomancers.

Obligatory gimmick decks:
Leeroy Warlock: Leeroy (6), double Power (14), Faceless (28), double Darkbomb (34), double Soulfire (42). 9 cards minimum, 10 mana.
Priest with Velen, Velen's Chosen, double Mind Blast (24), double Smite (36). 10 mana, 6 cards.

By plausible I meant 'Encountered this deck on the ladder in the last 6 weeks', by the way.

I think the absolute most damage possible from an empty board with a perfect Emperor is Priest, with Stormwind Knight and buff gimmickery.

So I can answer my own question, yes, it's at least theoretically possible to do more than 50 dmg from an empty board.

Stormwind Knight (4 mana, 2/5 Charge) + PW: Shield (1 mana, +2 health), PW: Shield (1 mana, +2 health), Divine Spirit (2 mana, doubles health to 18), Divine Spirit (2 mana, doubles health to 36), Inner Fire (1 mana, makes attack equal to health for 36/36) is 11 mana without emperor. Add in a Velen's Thought (or two) and fully discount all of it and it gets obscene, but nearly impossible to set up. 68/68 charge I think is the most possible if you discount every piece.
