Interesting story. Writing is 4/5ish, though with some annoyances.

The plot....I'm split. On the one hand, its original, what with Danzo's role, and Orochimaru possibly not being just an antagonist.

But the setup-- Itachi's crippling scene, the whole grimdark Konoha setting, etc. It doesn't feel realistic to me.

I'll keep an eye on this, but there are definitely some flaws.

3.5/5 if I had to rate it right now

The sequel to Ouroboros just updated. Pretty nice, imo.

Seconded. Pain however is eliciting conflicting feelings.

I think the author is just taking liberty with the character. Up until the manga chapters where we learn pain's backstory, this characterization wouldn't be too far off. Refer's to himself as God and has a clear disregard for human life, I would believe this characterization of Pain. There would be some suprise at seeing him characterized as so overtly egotistical, but I can believe subtle egotism, so this isn't that much of a leap for fanfiction. In the end the author decided to make him less redeemable than in canon. Pain tends to be a fan favorite so you don't generally see this, but as long as the characterization is consistent in the story I'll enjoy it. And given the ridiculous speech he gave at the Chunnin Exams in the last story when Naruto defected, the characterization seems to be holding true.

I'm going to recommend A Fallen God Rises by ShoredKafka: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11302972/1/A-Fallen-God-Rises

Heavily disillusioned towards the latter part of his life, he accepted death peacefully, without protest. But the spirit of a God cannot find rest, even in death. He knew not who pulled him from the Shinigami's grasp, nor his purpose in the land he was in. So be it. He would forge his own path as he always had. Senju Hashirama has come to Alagaesia.

I like what I've read so far. Although it only has two chapters out, depending on how the author proceeds with the story could turn out to be really good. This a crossover between Naruto/Inheritance Cycle.

The whole over the top power play is not how I've pictured him. If anything I like fics with very little interaction from him, his group is much more interesting.

I've never been able to bring myself to read that fic. The very idea of Orochimaru!Naruto bothers me too intensely. Nor can I imagine
Kushina and Minato just abandoning Naruto to be raised by someone they're probably not overly fond of.
I considered it for half a moment when I saw the link to a sequel, because I love a long story, but the ugly image of freaky snakeface Naruto killed all interest.

It's just a character with the name of Naruto.

Just read this. The prose is a little stiff, with some needlessly poetic turns of phrase, but it's not bad. The author has a decent technical grasp, anyway, which is better then most.

The story so far is interesting enough, but there's only two chapters. Of decent length, but no where near enough to really comment. Hashirama somehow winds up naked and unconscious on a farm somewhere shortly before the start of the first book. He somehow speaks the local language, that's all glossed over.

The best thing I can say about it so far is the single hint that everything won't just be Hashirama curbstomping everyone, but even that is still in doubt. To be fair, though, he probably should be curbstomping everyone.

This. It's a pity too, because I actually like this story. It isn't great, but certainly readable with several redeeming factors. Reading it is a struggle though, because this 'Naruto' is a badly written character with unbelievable traits and attitudes coupled with an annoying as fuck superiority complex.

I wouldn't mind reading about a scientific version of Naruto. Someone that uses wit to outsmart opponents. Less power, more brain. It could be the premise of an interesting story if done well.

This Naruto is one of these kinds of people that casually drop the result of their latest IQ test into a completely unrelated conversation.

    Fuck that noise.

He gets pretty repetitive as well. Half his dialogue is him insulting people for not appreciating his science or his massive intellect.

I've always been in two minds about that fic. OOC/SoD breaking start aside (which you just have to accept as the premise), the way things happen (as in the way the plot loves forward) has always seemed...a little heavy handed?

It's sufficient. Things move along, they happen, they make sense. The execution is just good enough to not be shit and keep me reading - but at the same time you can clearly see how things could be done better, or just handled with more finesse. Like, I can't help but always have in the back of my mind while reading: "this is a pretty decent idea...but another writer could have really sold it, and you aren't."

    ...it's odd.

I definitely agree here. I do however, go in with the mindset that the main character is actually an abusive asshole who you aren't supposed to like yet gives an interesting enough ride

Just read a kenchi story for the first time. I'm upset I'm not 13 anymore or I wouldn't feel as dissapointeed as I do right now. Dude has so many cool concepts but possibly the worst execution I've ever read. I know 13 year old me would have loved his shit though.

His bleach crossover. Don't think I'll be reading any of his other stories through,

His fics aren't super but they're definitely above average. Personally I like the Bleach one as well as his 'Sealed Kunai' that was pretty good.
