They're just named as charms, hexes, curses, etc. The muggle repelling charm is a ward, just as the curse on the Locket horcrux was as well. The Fidelius Charm and the Unplottable spell would fall under that umbrella as well.

There just isn't a word for ward in the HPverse; they're just spells that are named for their effect.

Was the Hungarian Horntail model from GoF only seen in the movies? I have a memory of it being mentioned in HBP but I am not sure if my mind is playing tricks with me.

 

There was a model of all the dragons in the book, though I don't recall if they moved or not.

 

Harry's dragon spread its wings and bared its tiny teeth at him when he first held it, and it curled up on the bedside table that night. Can't say whether the animation lasted, but at least at first it moved like the original.

 

Ooh an idea. A hogwarts club that uses animation charms to bring muggle games like D&D to life. Harry joins in. Written in a slice of life manner it might be a fun little story.

Is detention at Hogwarts before or after dinner? I know that Harry's detention with Hagrid in first year was late at night, but I assume that's not common practice?

 

His detentions with Umbridge were from 5 to midnight, IIRC (which makes me wonder if they had Astronomy in 5th year) and the ones with Snape on HBP were on Saturday mornings. So basically, the teacher can give them whenever they want/they think it will be the most annoying.

 

Also the Lockhart fan mail detention ran late.

I believe that happens after a Quidditch practice in bad weather when Filch gets pissed because of all the mud he's leaving behind, but I'm not sure it happens in the same calendar year if that's what you mean by year. However I think it does happen before Halloween because I think that Harry knowing Filch is a squib is one of the reason he, Filch, thinks Harry attacked Mrs. Norris. In short, definitely same school year, almost sure that it happen in the same calendar year.

IIRC, McGonagall says that Harry would become famous in the entire wizarding world (in the first scene in PS).

 

Ah yes now that I look back in GoF there is mention of Karkaroff and some of his students staring at Harry.

 

Also, the Pottermore material about the 2014 Quidditch World Cup mentions that Harry is famous in Argentina.

 

I can't remember, but did Voldemort look as he did in the events of the books(bald, snake slits, red eyes) before his defeat at the hands of Harry Potter in 1981 and the first wizarding war, or was that a appearance the result of the ritual which gave him a new body?
