Pekoms has a turtle DF. He looks like a lion, but can change into a turtle.

I highly doubt Weeble is Whitebeard's true son. Might just be a strong pirate controlled by his mother into trying to find some of Whitebeard's stash of treasure. He went to the sea to find a family. If he did end up with a son/wife I think he would have left the sea to stay on that island with them. And his crew would have followed.

They never mention them being married, she's just his 'lover'.

I think it's whitebeards illegitimate son that he never know about. The momma was just raising him waiting for WhiteBeard was out of the way so she could use her son to take all his treasure.

The self-proclaimed part of both of their introductions is what makes me skeptical. I'm gonna wait for PowerManga's version to come out before making any final judgements.

New chapter is out, looks like a clash of the Blackbeard Pirates and the Revolutionary army is being set up. Which could lead to a pretty epic fight between Dragon and Blackbeard, finally showing what his powerset is. Buggy leasing out pirates as mercenaries is actually pretty genius since he acquired all of those escaped convicts from Impel Down. Hajrudin and the 4 other giants leaving for the Straw Hat fleet is classic unlucky Buggy.

Raizou for next nakama. I guarantee it. With Oda having such a good relationship with Kishimoto, and Naruto having ended fairly recently, he's gonna add a ninja to the SH crew. Gonna laugh if Raizou's character design is a blond haired, blue eyed ninja who likes wearing orange. Doesn't even have to look like Naruto, if thats his basic character design, gonna laugh so hard.

How the hell did Burgess accomplish that without Sabo noticing? Or did he, and this is a deliberate stroke to try and rid the world of the Blackbeard Pirates, given Dragon is calling in all his troops?

I like that all the major characters we thought were far away are all going to be getting into conflicts soon.

Really looking forward to this. Been waiting to see Dragon get at it since he was introduced.

Also, I love how Buggy keeps popping up somehow. He was one of the first villains we saw, yet he keeps becoming relevant every hundred or so chapters.

Just had the mother of all binge-reads and caught up on One Piece - all 800 chapters in the course of a week or so. It's been an interesting ride.

Interesting? Interesting? You just read all 800 chapters of One Piece in a week and all you have to say is interesting?

What was your favorite arc from a storytelling point of view, if I may ask? I read it... hrm, not that long ago, but in bits and pieces interspersed with some of the anime.

I think Alabasta sticks with me as a good example of plotting. But there were a few issues with it, like how Luffy probably shouldn't have been able to beat Crocodile (though I suppose if the fan theory about Crocodile being Luffy's mom are true some of that is explained). So I'm not sure if it was actually good, or if it was just the first major arc and therefore felt better than it really was.

Later arcs like Skypeia, Enies Lobby, Water 7, Thriller Bark, Impel Down, and Marineford were all great too, but for some reason Alabasta felt like it was plotted better. I have never been able to pinpoint while it feels that way though.

Maybe one day if I re-read.

Yup, haven't run into that theory? Here's the basics (partly from a Wiki, partly from memory, so I might miss something)...

Ivankov knows a secret from Crocodile's past, that apparently other people don't know, and that Crocodile wanted kept secret. Ivankov is capable of permanently changing someones gender. Perhaps Crocodile used to be a woman.

In Episode 0 we only see the back of Crocodile's head, suggesting that he was different back then and that Oda wants to keep it a secret for now. In the SBS for Volume 63 Oda drew the Shichibukai as children, and Crocodile looks very neutral in terms of gender. Is he a girlish looking boy? Or a girl with strong tomboy tendencies?

There was also a reference somewhere that Luffy reminded someone of Crocodile when he was younger, but that Crocodile had lost the idealistic tendencies somewhere along the way in the Grand Line. Or maybe this was Crocodile who thought this in Alabasta? Can't remember.

There's a reddit thread somewhere with more details. :awesome

I ran into a reddit thread that said Big Mom gains powers from peoples mothers dying.

Huh. I found Alabasta literally too boring to watch. I first stated watching the anime, and I got up to Alabasta until I couldn't watch anymore. I picked it up again like a year later, but this time I was reading the manga because I couldn't stand 20 minute episodes like the ones in Alabasta.

Funnily enough it was the Crocodile vs Luffy fight in the anime that got me into One Piece. I was skimming youtube years and years ago and an AMV came up featuring those two. I thought it looked cool and decided to eye the manga and it has been a fairly wonderful journey ever since. I remember finally catching up to current releases about mid-way into Impel Down.

Man, those days I still had dial up. Cripes. I only started watching the anime for real when it aired again on Toonami and the amount of filler is enough to make me cry.

I don't think there's really any way to summarize the entire thing. "Interesting" was a very strong understatement. The story's incredibly well plotted, and blasting through the whole thing you can actually see the foreshadowing. (I tried watching the anime but gave up a few minutes in.)

I like the humor and character scenes a lot more than the action scenes. The Sabaody arc was probably my favorite, although they were all very close.
