Does decomposition also work on skeletons?

Presuming that the Fisher King had a skeleton. But he did look rather bone-y.

Absolutely. Bone is literally just mineralized collagen matrixed with a bunch of salts and minerals. Within about 6 months to a year, a skeleton exposed to decent decomp conditions will be soft as mush. In two years, it will be a puddle.

I always laugh during dumbshit proceduals when somebody pulls a salvageable 20 year old corpse out of like... a fucking swamp or something.

Maybe he had super strong alien bones tho. :sherlock:

That's cool to know, I also was thinking along the same lines Rep was. Guess I learned something today!

Odd little episode tonight, I thought. 90% disposable random adventure, and then suddenly (probably?) arc plot.

Presumably Maisie Williams is the hybrid from the prophecy that Davros was waffling on about back in the first couple of episodes. Human woman with as yet unspecified (if any) alien elements, and who can't die. Ever. Intriguing idea, although I can't help but wonder how different she's going to be to Captain Jack in practice. Nice and simple explanation for Capaldi's re-used face.

Decent enough episode then, but yeah. Major tonal whiplash between most of the episode and the last five minutes or so.

The rampant stupidity really got to me this episode. Cool ending though.

Yeah, a very forgettable episode save for the plot implications. I so want MW to be the new companion, but I don't know how that would work with GoT filming taking up most of any given year.

They could just kill her off in GoT. Seems to happen to most characters, no? (I don't watch GoT)

This was definitely my favorite of the season so far. I love the romps the most. (Robin Hood was my favorite of last season too.) But this is really a premise that you don't really find in any other sci-fi. There were some great lines, too. ("We can't be trusted with them.")

Everyone has a right to their opinion and all... but what the fuck are you smoking? That episode was so bad I was literally cringing. Better than kill the moon and the tree invasion nonsense, but only just.

I've rewatched all of those eps recently. They're silly, illogical, and full of whimsy - a precious eight year old could poke holes in them - but they work perfectly as Doctor Who eps.

...even if giant bacteria on the shell of the moon's egg made me want to cry on the inside.

Doctor Who is a show about a 1000-year old alien taking random Earth people on trips in a blue police box. There's nothing about the premise that screams "serious sci fi".

As a note: In this episode, Odin was originally supposed to be played by BRIAN BLESSED.

Really? Oh that would have been brilliant.

His monologue on Have I Got News For You about taking a shit on Everest at 28,000 feet was one of the funniest things I've ever heard. To date, only thing I've ever downloaded onto my PS3 hard drive.

And now that PS3 is in a landfill. All my love to long ago.

That would have improved the episode by at least 30%. Ah well. Here's hoping they can get him in for something else at some point.

Not a big fan of the episode. The first 30 minutes hinted at a light hearted story just for it to change at the last 10. It wasn't bad, just weird. Like what they seem to be setting up with Maisie's character, really hope she stays or appears on future episodes.

There were some pretty good lines throughout the episode. I quite liked the Doctor's line regarding immortality. Also, I wished they did more callbacks to precious seasons like they did this episode.

Just saw the preview and it looks good. Those trailers on the YouTube channel set the episodes quite nicely. Still, I hope she appears beyond that (depending on the outcome of next week's episode). Would love her as a reoccurring character like Jack. Hell, I want to see Jack again! The Doctor really needs a male companion.

There's rumors she's in the final episode.

Another solid but pretty forgettable episode, IMO. There were a couple of scenes with Capaldi and Williams talking about immortality which were quite effective, but on the whole...eh. Not bad, nothing special though.

Didn't really like the episode. I can appreciate the production values, ideas and the actors' performances though. I agree with Shinysavage , the immortality scenes were the best of the episode. Hope that Maisie returns, as is rumored, or perhaps an appearance of Captain Jack in future seasons.

Also, I saw the YouTube preview for the next episode and the hype is real. The zygon thing from the 50th anniversary is finally being addressed. Wished it had been with Matt Smith but I'll take it.
