The thing is, once they bring in Supergirl, they have to admit Superman is also in the same verse...

    ROBERT QUEEN!

If this dosent have either a- Robert Queen being in the grave in Arrow, or b- Robert giving Barry a letter to give to Oliver, I will be slightly sad.

Well, the Multiverse is a thing now so Supergirl could actually happen.

Zoom is freaking brutal! Those scenes with him holding him and taking him through the city were straight out of a comic book.

Liked the latter half of the episode more than the first one. I mean, I get it's the CW and The Flash is silly at times but that training montage was awful. Even when they recognized the awfulness of it, it was awful. Also, did Iris want to kill Linda or something? She kept pushing for the idea of having her as bait.

Joe continues to prove why he is my favorite character in the show. He's conversation with Barry in the elevator was pretty good. Cisco is good and Wells is amazing. Feeling Patty as a love interest much more than I ever did with Iris.

The effects weren't as good as with King Shark but I guess they blew their load for a few episodes with that one.

I actually enjoyed the montage, I thought it was fun. Zoom was amazing, absolutely terrifying as a villain in a way that even RF himself never achieved. The sheer brutality of the beatdown, followed by the showing off to both media and cops, really gave legitimacy to Jay's fear of Zoom.

Yeah, Zoom was great. When he started taking him around town was really horrible - the way he beats him just before he does that, too.

The end of that episode was excellent.

I liked the montage, too. Didn't feel like it went on too long, at least.

Zoom looks pretty - OH HOLY FUCK HE CAUGHT IT
    THAT FUCKING COMBO
Barry's back must be fucking broken, hot damn.

Rest of the episode wasn't really remarkable.

Well, if only someone had listened when Dr Light's potential powers were explained, might have been helpful to know.

Kept expecting that it turns out Linda was Doctor Light and tried to kill Flash for real.

Zoom is pretty badass, really liked the fight scenes and what he did with barry.

Did not like that everyone tried to attack Zoom from the front, no police officer tried to flank him, Wells tried to shoot him with a sniper from the front. Seemed obvious that the way to go was to attack him from behind.

Wells tried to shoot him in the back of the head, actually. He turned to catch the dart.

Edit: The situation is almost identical to Cisco's later hit, actually - Barry's down and he's about to slam him again when Wells takes the shot. I think the differential factor may have been that Cisco was much closer, or, alternately, that Cisco's shot came after Zoom paraded Flash around for the entire city, so he was caught up in the excitement of taking his final shot.

Or that is was Cisco, some meta-thing. I'm not too familiar with Vibe or where they'll take his powers so that was what I figured.

With the police, he appeared at the top of the steps when he surprised them, they didn't really have much time to do anything. Zoom, unbound by plot-contrivances (at present) is acting like someone with high-end super speed should. It should be that difficult for anyone without it to bother him.

I figured without Cisco's powers helping in some manner it'd be silly if he didn't just react to the shot (even from behind) because we've seen Barry notice and stop a bullet when it touches his skin from behind before - and he's faster.

So, let's look at the math.

Zoom caught a bolt of lightning that Barry threw at him.

Lightning travels at the speed of light = 186,000 miles per second.

Zoom didn't catch Cisco's dart, which let's assume was travelling at the speed of an average bullet = 1,126 feet per second.

Oh dear. That's 0.2 miles per second.

He caught lightning travelling precisely 185,999.8 miles faster per second than that dart.

But, honestly, who the fuck cares?

Zoom not stopping that second dart is something of a plot hole, given his speed. But, honestly, the show has never presented a consistent approach to a speedster's ability. So, if we're willing to accept that, then it wasn't a plot hole - because it's established that sometimes they're fast, sometimes they're not.

Yes, for the sake of plot, but having introduced a super-powered demon such as Zoom, how else could they have got rid of him for the inevitable mid-season fight?

    - Zoom could have smirked and left, but that has its own issues. Namely leaving Barry alive to seek his inevitable revenge.
    - Zoom could have killed Barry, thus ending the show or requiring some equally absurd resurrection for Barry. They're doing far too much of that in Arrow as it is.

So, basically, to enjoy this show we have to accept that the power fluctuates. Perhaps Zoom simply wasn't paying attention. Perhaps he was arrogant, overconfident. He simply wasn't using his awesome speed at the moment Cisco fired the dart to assess any incoming threats.

Eh. I enjoy this show quite a bit, so willing to forgive.

This is exactly how I feel about The Flash. It's only when a show is losing me that I start to nitpick the crap out of it.

"Aren't you the one who told me life isn't about playing defense? Sometimes the only way to succeed is by working the offense."

"Maybe at the time we were talking about your highschool football tryouts."

"You said you'd never bring that up again!"

I lol'd. Cisco continues being great. Zoom was okay. Joe's post was pretty much spot on.

    Another Coast City reference! Nice!

One has to assume that the inhuman speed needs to be activated and isn't just constantly in effect, so catching a speedster by surprise is certainly possible.

It's the cliche downfall of a villain. They are too busy gloating about their victory to pay attention to anything else.

Edit: I think my biggest dislike of this show is that Barry always, ALWAYS fails the first time he tries to do anything. Every week he rushes off and fails at fighting the enemy the first time. Learns more about said enemy and wins the second time.

    Every time.

How about you do a little more research and spend a little less time getting your ass kicked Barry.

If they did this, that would be another Batman plot used by Arrow lol.

I forgot to mention, Barry/Paddy is legitimately the only TV couple I can think of whose every interaction makes me smile. They have amazing chemistry.

Eyeing the r/flashtv subreddit yesterday, it has been said that Cisco/Vibe's power reacts with the Speedforce- overriding or neutralizing or some such- and that is why his shot succeeded where Wells did not.

I liked the episode. Zoom is leagues above Barry. Even RF didn't thrash him so badly.

Yeah, that was funny. I had to rewind it and watch it again.

Also, ZOOM. Boy was I wrong, he was epic. That close up of his face to begin with? Oh man looked demonic. Then he catches the lightning bolt, but he doesn't just catch it he did a cool flip to catch it at the last second. Barry had to build up speed, Zoom just moved.

As for the fight itself, I winced when he broke Barry's back. If Reverse-Flash was brutal, I don't know what that makes Zoom. Again, hearing the back, just thinking about it makes me shiver.

Also, Zoom is narcissistic. No wonder his name rhymes with Doom, parading Flash's bloody, broken body around town like that. Legitimately thought he was gonna unmask Barry at the news office, and how awesome was him catching those bullets? Not like when Barry does it and has to really try, Zoom just stood there, one hand holding a limp Flash and the other catching all those bullets, which he then just let drop. It was like it was raining bullets. Kudos to the director, that whole Zoom scene was just flat out brilliantly done.

One final thing, I knew Barry would be paralysed when he woke up. After all, Zoom injected him with Well' speed dampener, ergo his healing going haywire. Heals most or all of the superficial injuries but cannot, for the moment, heal a broken back.

Episode was meh again. Was cheap to see Barry heal so quickly after last week's "I can't feel my legs" but we knew it was coming. Still, I enjoyed seeing Barry in Wells' wheelchair.

The peptalk/lecturing to Barry felt oddly smug this week, like, as if Joe and Barry's father had written their pep talk speeches a long time ago and were orating them now, instead of a heartfelt talk. The father especially felt like a director or life coach instead of a father, whose son had been beaten up to the point his back had been broken.

The gorilla thing was lame, although, Wells is still awesome.

Cisco's plot powered vision power is getting annoying.

    And we might see
    Hawkgirl
    sometime.

I long ago stopped caring about plot driven powers. Barry's healing factor (still took a week to fix his broken back), ciscos Vibing, all their devices that depower bad guys (anti mind control ear plugs..? Really?). But in the end, it's a tv show. Furthermore, a comic book tv show. So they double down on that narrative crutch.

"More bruises from her than deathstroke"

"Is that the only way this guy knows how to enter a room?"

"It's your city" seems very Batman/Supermanish. Awesome.

THAT ENDING SCENE!!!!! Olivers not an idiot. He knows.
