I am so happy that my name wasn't changed.

It has been so relevant to this off season.

Why? For losing to a top 4 team at worlds with a new roster.

I think we can all agree that CLG did relatively well today even though UOL is super weak right now and Jin Air is probably gonna be an 8th plce team in Korea this split (atleast with this roster, they really need Chaser back).

OG meanwhile is most likely gonna win EU LCS unless the Roccat super team melds together really well or Fnatic finds 3 more random superstar players again.

I think IEM was pretty useless in determining TSM and CLGs strength because all it proved was that they're better than shit teams (which is what LGD looks like right now) and worse than really good teams (which is what OG is and has proven to be).

NA LCS is going to be really fun this split!!

So I reinstalled LoL after God knows how many years of ignoring it. Getting re-used to the game with Lux using this guide. Anyone got suggestions on where to go after I've gotten a grasp on how to work her? I'm not a high enough level for PvP yet, so it's just Co-op vs AI.

    Also, tips on using Lux?

Play a lot of ARAM when you get it unlocked. For Lux, max E first to do good consistent AoE damage and buy Ludens Echo because it lets you burst people. Lux is burst-kill not sustained damage, so build her accordingly. You're a one-shot cannon of doom.

Aekiel Stay very, very clear of enemies. You moves have long range and you're not very mobile. Stay on the back of your team and assist them with your sustained damage.

Max out on cooldown reduction as soon as you can. Lux has naturally low cooldowns, and maxing CDR helps maximize her damage output and make your sustained damage even more consistent.

Time your auto attacks correctly. Her passive makes it so that each enemy affected by one of your abilities can be ignited by an auto to deal extra damage. Smart auto attacks in-between abilities will give you a strong edge in laning, letting you outpoke your lane opponent, or help you maximize your damage output during fights, although traditionally you dont want to be in auto range during those.

I disagree with Xiph0 . Lux can burst with the best of them, but with such low cooldowns, she's a terror during extended teamfights too.

Alright I may know a thing or two about Lux :D . First of all she's best in the midlane so go there if you can. And that guide is somewhat questionable.

Skill build first. You always max E, and you usually start with it in lane. The only exception is when you think you will can get a kill before the laning starts, in which case you will take Q. This is a general tip but you don't really want to instantly take your first skill as soon as the game starts as the best skill will depend on what happens in the first 2 minutes. What is good for standard laning may not be the best for a 5v5 scrapfest in the jungle. Take shield at level 3 and max Q after E. Take points in your ultimate as soon as possible of course.

The runes in that guide are fine but you don't want to be buying any runes until after you get to level 20 anyway so just ignore that part.

The masteries in that guide are also wrong (biscuit op), but again doesn't really matter at your level.

The champion matchups are pretty much all wrong but at low levels no one will be playing their champion well enough for any matchups to matter.

Item build - Start with Doran's Ring and two health pots, it's the best pretty much every game. You will want to sell the doran's ring later in the game to free up an item space however. Buy boots whenever possible, bonus movement speed is very good for Lux so try and upgrade from brown boots relatively early if you can. Usually you will upgrade into Sorceror Shoes. You may want to buy a couple more health potions whenever you return to base to keep your health topped up.

After that cooldown reduction (CDR) is your best friend. It's impossible to get above 40% cdr without a mastery you can't access until you are at least level 13. You have two options to get that 40%. You can buy both Athene's Unholy Grail and Morellonomicon as the guide suggests, or you can buy one of those two, get Ionian Boots of Lucidity instead of Sorceror Shoes and try and get your hands on a blue buff. Buying Grail and Morellonomicon is probably simpler but try and experiment to see which you prefer.

After your CDR you want to get a lot of AP. Rabadon's Deathcap is the best AP item in the game, you'll usually want to get this straight after your CDR. But if you are having trouble staying alive then Zhonya's Hourglass is better for the defensive capabilities. The biggest problem with that guide is that it doesn't include a Void Staff in the game, late game this is one of the best items you can get for any AP champion. You always want to get it in your first 4 major items.

Your core build will always include Upgraded boots, Athene's Unholy Grail/Morellonomicon (Either or both), Rabadon's Deathcap, Void Staff and Zhonya's Hourglass. Other items that are useful good: Luden's Echo (more damage), Rylai's Crystal Scepter (more defensive), Liandry's Torment (more damage on targets without any magic resist).

Oh and buy and place pinkwards whenever you can, it's a great habit to get into. Also use your trinket.

General play tips - Your E is your basic damage and minion killing tool. Before you get your first CDR item you want to be careful using this too much because you won't have enough mana to support it, try to only use it whenever you can land damage on a champion and use your auto attacks to get last hits on minions. Whenever you throw the E down try and wait as long as possible to detonate it to maximise the slow effect, obviously not waiting too long so your enemies run out of it. Later in the game you can spam it pretty freely to kill minions faster.

Be careful using your Q, it's your best defensive tool. If you waste it it's very hard to get away from enemy champions. In teamfights spam your shield as often as possible, if you get it on multiple allies it absorbs a lot more damage than people think. Your R is on a relatively low cooldown and has a very high range, you can spam it pretty frivolously to do damage to the enemies.

When killing people the maximum damage spell combo is Q>auto>E>R>Auto, your R and autos both proc your passive. In most game situations you're unlikely to have the time or space to pull that off so most of the time go you just go Q>E>R and an auto after if they aren't dead yet. Once you get two or 3 items you will oneshot anyone without a defensive item with that combo. The most important spell to hit is your Q, if you hit that it guarantees that you'll hit your other two. Miss it and your other spells are easy to dodge.

In lane try and get as many last hits as you can. Harass enemy champions with your E as much as possible, use autos to proc your passive. But be careful because autoing enemy champions will make their minions target you and minions do a lot of damage early game, damaging them with spells will not. Try not to fight inside the enemy's minion wave it will give them a big advantage. People will often think they're safe by hiding behind their minions but you E will hit them over it and if there is only one minion between you and them you can still hit your Q.

In fights you outrange almost everyone else in the game with your spells, abuse this to your advantage. Try to stay at the max range of your Q, this allows you to still do your damage but you'll be safe from your enemies damage. Lux is made of paper so you tend to die if the enemies can close the gap on you. It can be tempting to walk up close to use your autos to proc your passive but if you will take damage in return it's probably not worth it.

I could say a lot more but I've probably said far too much already. Once you get the hang of things you should experiment with as many champions as you can to try and find your favourites (protip Lux is the best champ in the game).

edit: I assume you're playing on EUW? If so feel free to add me on BillTheDoor.

First item on Lux is always Grail as far as I'm concerned. I might be spam-happy, but Morrellonomicon doesn't offer enough mana for me. Even against AD Grail has to be bought because of how much of a mana whore Lux is.

This actually makes Lux's build path really, really, really fucking annoying against AD champs because there is no mana and armor item for mages and even after you get mana Zhonya's can be bad on her since generally if an enemy is close enough for you to activate it, a few seconds of invul isn't going to save you.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I've kinda worked it the combo by myself (though I keep missing the auto attack because of range). It's probably a lot harder against real people rather than the AI though; I'm finding it real easy to draw out their champions and kill them once they're behind my minion lines.

Usefully, the movement boost summoner spells you start with are good enough to catch most champs if they start running. At least enough to catch them in my Q.

And just so I've got this right; Lux's main stats to improve are CDR, mana regen and ability power? Aim for those and possibly take a defensive item, if I'm dying too much.
