More hints at unnecessary drama in the new chapter. Pls for the love of God just destroy the ring from Bill fucking Weasley already.

I wish H/F was the canon pairing :/

What? What does that have to do with anything at all? I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't even brought up again.

Well, the ring is apparently dealt with now. And we find out what Fleur was storing I the box.

I read it all the way to currently a couple of weeks back, and I've been catching up off and on since, but the most recent parts?

It's emphatically boring, now. There's no sense of urgency, really, beyond the whole fighting Voldemort in one of the recent chapters. Voldemort didn't feel particularly dangerous, beyond the "I'm Voldemort and I am dangerous."

    An entirely solid Meh/10.

I've followed this story from the beginning and thoroughly enjoy it. I'm also a big Harry/Fleur fan and will read just about anything unless it is horribly written. My only concern is where this goes with H/F cold-hearted outlook to everything but each other.

The last 10 chapters have been a very big let down to be honest. I really enjoyed it prior to that but everything since summer started has been extremely subpar.

I just have the feeling that the author has absolutely no plot for the summer but still thinks he has to write any single detail of it because he is somehow afraid of skipping anything/doesn't know where to skip.

Heyyyy. We're finally out of summer. Bit abrupt actually after everything so far. Looks like things might pick up again, looking forward to it. New chapter was good in my opinion.

I'd almost wager LightDethroned has reacted to the complaints about the summer plot :D

I did like some of the interaction with Fleur in the summer. It will be interesting to see how being away from her will affect Harry.

I didn't dislike it, I just think there was a bit too much of it with nothing else going on at the time. The fact that summer is now over makes it a bit better knowing that it doesn't go on for 20 more chapters.

I feel like summer could still have gone on for longer but it either needed a very different change of direction or to be half rewritten to be in that direction in the first place. Because the existing summer story line is a lot of nothing.

Sorry to disappoint Dicra, but you'd have lost your wager; it's been planned out pretty much in its entirety from September.

In regards to how much filler there is in this, I admit I do tend to indulge myself in writing fanfiction, since there's no publishing costs to keep the word count down I don't have to cut anything out! However, a 20 chapter summer would be too far, even for me :)

They hinted at Fleur hiding something secret in her whatever it was.

Anyway, that was before the new chapters

I liked most parts of the new chapter - back in Hogwarts, the fic seems so much more interesting again although there is not much action until now.

    One little problem is
Snape calling Harry "Harry" after nearly sending him away which I don't think he'd do even in face of an impressive magical feat.

and a much bigger problem is that
    SecondChances!Dumbledore is basically confirmed now.
Nearly any fic is ruined for me by that particular cliché, let's see if he manages to make it bearable.

I was freaked out by Snape calling him Harry, but his behavior was even worse. The introductory speech was fine, but in his conversation with Harry he was too OOC.

    Maybe.
But I could also imagine him suspecting that Harry is out to get him for what he's done and protecting his own life by making himself valuable for him.
It is at least mentioned that this could be the case (although it seems improbable to Harry).

But as the author failed so heavily with his Dumbledore characterisation, the same could of course also go for Snape.

Dumbledore believed enough in Snape and Malfoy to offer them path to redemption in canon. Both had done much worse things that this Harry did.

Snape, though? I certainly don't understand how he'd call Harry by his first name. If anything, it'd only aggravate him more, in the exact moment where he starts buttering up to him. It doesn't make sense.

Using his first name is meant to catch him off guard and to get the upper hand in the conversation. Why would being called by his name anger him?

I do enjoy the fact that Snape is actually being a Slytherin now that he's taking Harry seriously and probably greatly suspects that he's on Harry's list.

While I agree that Dumbledore it rarely written well by anyone, it's a bit much to call it a cliché.

It would be like having a fic where Harry's glasses break and he's fumbling around for them and being all Oh, great - Harry with glasses again. How stunningly original.

Secondchances!Dumbledore is completely in-character. A given author might make a ham-handed effort at it or go to absolutely ridiculous lengths with it, but it's not really fair to claim the characterization is unimaginative and overdone.

This is after all the same Dumbledore who gave Snape a chance to defect from the Death Eaters, even when Snape's reasons for doing so openly disgusted him. Who till the very end tried to steer Malfoy away from the brink, post-Imperio'd Rosmerta and two almost-deaths.

This is the Dumbledore who figured out ahead of time that Ron was likely to abandon Harry... and also had faith that Ron would figure out his mistakes on his own, and left him the tool to make good on that.

And given how compared to everyone but Riddle just how powerful Albus is, he is not a man in a position of weakness claiming to be holding a virtue. Albus could wipe the floor with everyone, but he chooses not to.
