Playing Mercy left and right, and got robbed from a play of the game in one of the king of the hill maps.

The play went to an enemy D.Va, who blew her mech up and killed 4 of my teammates when we were at like 95% of the capture. It didn't go to me, who immediately rezzed all 4 of them and proceeded to slaughter their attack : /.

Healers get zero love as far as play of the match is concerned, the chosen play can be quite ordinary sometimes.

I got a quad on Widow, the play of the match? No. Instead Torbjörn gets it for setting up a turret. Literally, he set up a turret and walked away and got play of the match haha.

    High skill game that one.

    Getting pretty bummed out.

Every time I start getting hard into the game my network connection dies and I drop out. Nothing more demoralizing than killing it in a game and then.. *puff* all your work gone.

Tried it out yesterday on friend's preorder beta key (he's on holiday without a computer that could run it - poor fellow), liked what I saw, pre-ordered.

Good fun, although these last few years of near zero-fps experience shows.

I keep missing shots I wouldn't have missed roughly ten years ago when I used to play HL2_DM and TF2 for after school.

I can't even handle a drop higher mouse sensitivity, which I think I could have, in years past. :/

Mass Effect is the only thing standing between me and full-on patheticness.

Managed to get picked for that replay spot once with D.VA and that one didn't look too good, just sending the suit forward to explode for couple of kills and barely hitting someone running past me with a pistol (which was and looked like a total fluke on replay).

As a side-note, I absolutely love the algorithm they use for the hot-spot picks. Most of the time, it's actually a decent moment, which is a nice bonus. It's probably simple, but the results are more than I'd expected.

I'm godawful at FPS, which is why I play Mercy and Bastion the most.

Genji is really fun too, if you want heavy mobility while also being able to handle themselves well in melee (unlike Hanzo) and having a chance at surviving a few hits (unlike Tracer). His ulti took a time or two to warm up to, but the sword hits absolutely destroy most everyone.

Also his dash does decent damage and completely fucks with tanks, especially Reinharts.

I remember though, at last blizzcon, a guy at our house was heavy into theorycrafting for blizzard games. While I wasn't sober enough to remember damn near most of what he said, but I do recall him talking about how most characters are natural counters/countered by other ones.

With the way you can change who you are midgame, I can see a healthy metagame developing if champion balances occur to keep no one from being always OP. Sadly, I think I also remember reading that the top teams from Beta all pretty much ran the same setups (vaguely remember heavy Winston usage, for example, probably because he counters range snipers (his bubble and his leap to catch them) while also being dangerous to anyone who engages him up close (his gun does more damage the closer you are or something).

Overwatch is pretty great on console too. The people I'm playing against aren't as good either :3

I'm most likely going to get it on ps4. My comp is pretty old now and I have to run it on 50% renderring just to get some stable fps and it's blurry as fuck. PS4 seems the best bet.

Playing on PC is great (if laggy af) but I would have liked to test it on the PS4 and see how it holds up against the likes of Destiny.

Shame I left my PS4 behind when I came back to my hometown.

Just played my first few games. No one plays the objective (or plays them smartly), most people go DD, no one goes after the many Bastions (destroyers of noobs) with proper heroes, no healers or tanks... the usual, basically. XD

Once I got paired with a guy that went Mercy, I stuck with them, played Reinhardt and won a couple. I'm terrible at it and don't know the maps at all, but I got some sense at least. *sigh*

Still a lot of fun. I love it.

Mercy is the pocket healer of the game. Wherever you go, she can follow. At full health? Deal more damage instead! Did you die? Have a rez! Oh shit someone else needs heals? Zoom across map, heal them, then zoom back!

This is countered by her inability to deal damage while healing or buffing (as opposed to Lucio, who aoe heals/aoe speed buffs while also attacking the whole time), a trade off I don't mind because my fps accuracy sucks. Her utility also completely requires her presence (as opposed to Symmetra, who's turrets and teleporter can help you out wherever you are, and her shields have a pretty good cast range too).

Zenyatta is in some ways similar, but also different. If Mercy is the holy priest of the game, then Zenyatta is the resto druid. He can heal-over-time one dude, and debuff one enemy at a time to take more damage. His ulti is tranquility while also making himself invincible.

Personally I could see Zenyatta being a lot stronger in pro play. Less direct healing (orb heals 30 hp/s, mercy can channel 50 hp/s), but his debuff is stronger then mercy's damage buff (Mercy increases one person's damage by 30%, but Orb of Discord increases damage taken on one target by 50%). Mercy's is stronger on a high dps carry-esque character, but Zenyatta is a tank buster.

The Ulti comparison though, is what makes or breaks teamfights (and that's the important part of king of the hill/capture point maps). Zenyatta helps you win the fight (takes away one target from damage, while also healing 100 hp/s for 6 seconds to everyone around him). Mercy saves you after you lose a team fight. Obviously, winning the teamfight to begin with is better then losing, hoping your healer didn't die first, and having them rez you (where the enemy team can see all the bodies and be ready to kill them again, albeit with lower starting health).

I think pro players, who are already good at aiming and shit, will probably prefer Lucio and Zenyatta's style of healing to Mercy's. Lucio's insane mobility increases are very strong- being able to rush objectives or move the whole team past blockades of Bastion's/Torbjorns will probably be a lot stronger on non-escort maps, especially the point capture maps. On the escort ones, he'd probably be less effective and someone like Symmetra (with her Teleporter and Turrets) will be much more effective.

I would not be surprised if a lot of teams run Symmetra+a healer, instead of just one support or two healers. Symmetra and Lucio is probably a weaker combo then Symmetra+anyone else, but Lucio+one of other healers would probably work out real well (stick Mercy/Zenyatta HoT on one/two high priority targets, Lucio's passive heal taking care of the rest). Lucio ult+Zenyatta ult=a team that can live forever in a team fight.

The pros as of a few weeks ago were going with double Tracer, double Winston, double Lucio as one of the more popular setups.

if Lucio speed buffs stack, I can completely see this making sense.

They're probably going to have to make it so that you can't have multiples of the same character in pro play, for balance purposes if nothing else. I doubt Blizzard will do it though, they are pretty firmly sticking to the being able to change characters at will midmatch too.

Obviously that is a best case scenario, still amusing to try and trick a Hog.
