So far... my most common go-to characters are probably Zenyatta and Mei, with the occasionally rude Bastion at the beginning of a defense match, or Pharah for a direct offensive character. Aside from random experimentation with others, of course.

I am not really good with anyone, but I like playing Widowmaker, Mercy, Lucio, Symmetra, Reinhardt and D.Va. I dabble with other characters, but those are the ones I frequent for now.

I am annoyed at seeing Hanzo so often, the fucking spirit dragon is just aggravating how easy it is to get play of the game with that, especially since it's shooting through walls.

If you see Hanzo, that's a free ticket to get your Trapage on.

I only ever heal as Lucio. I mostly tank as Winston unless we have a godlike Bastion that needs defending (Reinhardt) or we're versing a squishy comp (then I go Zarya and get POTG by ulting their whole team).

On Defense I mostly go Torb or Symetra, if they're smart and ripping my turrets apart, I go Tracer.

And if you ever need to break a blockade, the only choice is junkrat.

Tl;dr, I have a lot of choices depending on the situation... Which is what I love about this game.

It's beautiful getting an instant Penta with McCree in overtime as the last person alive escorting a payload the last couple metres. Nothing I've done has trumped it yet.

My personal highlight is sneaking behind the team in almost the exact same situation as Zarya, landing the ultimate on all 6 until Pharrah ult...

I got up off my chair and cheered, lol

I just rolled a team as Genji on ToA.

I managed to sneak onto the building beside the A point while they were distracted and grouped and ult'ed. Dropped down and got a quadra on them before dying to Junkrats deathblow.

    Junkrat, Hanzo, Mercy and Wildhog.

Feels good man. Highlight of my meager Genji performances.

Managed to get a bunch of Reinhardt plays of the game. Knowing everyone was forced to watch me charge through two enemies and then hammer two more to death felt very satisfying. That was the most impressive one, the rest were just good positioning and distracted enemies leading to a bunch of kills.

I've put a lot of hours into Overwatch over both versions, and nothing feels better than being mvp as Tracer. You feel like the greatest fpser alive (even though it usually means they just weren't very good...)

Actually, knocking people off the stage with Lucio is pretty great too...

I've heard that progress from this beta won't carry on? :\ Whats the point of 'early access' then?

Probably to do it all over again I'd imagine. Beta gets them more pre-purchases just in-case everybody & their friends haven't already ordered it.

It's a strange call though given how there's no real power outside of knowledge and getting to know the characters strengths & weaknesses. Just the loss of unlockables as the levels mean jack bar play time.

Given how easily Blizzard caved over the Tracer thing it could just be to stop morons complaining about some kind of perceived advantage, though what that may be I simply don't know.

The only progression in the game are the unlockables. If everyone starts from zero at launch, they can get more mileage out of them.

Speaking of Tracer's over the shoulder pose, while I love it for my phone background, the other two are way cuter. Especially the one where she's sitting cross legged...

    I may have bought both...

I love the little tidbits of lore that Blizzard has put in. I got an awesome moment of surprise and inspiration from a little talk that Reaper and McCree had today before a match started. Apparently, the former is the latter's teacher. Would gladly read a fanfic (or a comic, or a cartoon ^^) about it.

Call me if its of the NC-17 variety XD

... there may also be an interesting story there from the game's starting point. Not necessarily fictionalising the game itself, but specifically the reason why Winston initiates the recall, and why Reaper wants everyone's location.

I love using Reaper, Pharah or Lucio on Volskaya Industries when attacking. If the other team has the choke point locked down you can easily sneak by on the left(coast) side by jumping across the gap. I have had games where I soloed A from 0 to 100% because they were so busy locking down the entrance. Even when they do notice they have to get out of their position to move back to A. Which buys the team some time.

this video shows why I like Overwatch so much

In first part they complain about attacking on Hanamura and how impossible it is, in second part when they play defense on same map enemy team shows exactly how they screwed up by succeeding where they have failed :D

I only caught onto the beta weekend yesterday and I played the game for a bit. Literally haven't played any hero but D.Va and she is so fun to play with the whole Mech/Pilot thing going on along with the pretty crazy mobility. That said, her main gun feels a little too weak and I'm pretty sure her pistol is actually stronger. When you are in mech form, I feel you are too reliant on hitting people with your charge and then finishing them off with the gun by sticking on them. Don't even get me started on how squishy she feels outside of the defense matrix.

You should try it out with D.Va as well. I've done some similar things with her though I usually have to just charge out once everyone focuses me or you just leave the mech to blow up.

As an aside, does anyone feel like the maps are the weakest point of this game? I can't quite place quite why I feel like that right now since the map names are only faintly registering on me right now.

D.Va guns do good dmg when you are up close to enemy, her main job is basically being a huge annoyance to defense teams (a tank with assault capabilities pretty interesting and useful if played right)
Also maps are actually good but the thing is defending is easier on lower skill level plays, while on high skill matches attackers actually win most of the time.

Many people say that some maps are impossible to win as attackers it's actually not true. they just have bad teamwork especially flankers are important in such cases, hell even today we had pretty nifty defense setup on Hanamura point B (which gets most complaints along with temple of Anubis) and still lost the match in last minute, good teamwork and adapting to situation is key so switch heroes when needed and stick together

That video shows its age. RIP Bastion's Shield : (

One of the big things that make or break this game is using the right characters on the right maps. There are some guys who are very clearly better on some stages than others. Most noticeable with Bastion and Widowmaker, I think.
