I know, that what I thought as well when I first looked at it. I'd think Iwa would have been more likely to purposely kill her out of pure spite even if they'd agreed.

Or they probably would have murdered the messenger as soon as they saw the leaf insignia.


But I suspended disbelief in that front and enjoyed it for a bit.

 

Thanks for the recommendations. I've read or tried most of those on the list - I've been in the fandom long enough to remember when Time and Again and Chunin Exam Day (rofl) were new fics.

I've never gotten what's so good about Sheeza's Life in Konoha's Anbu honestly - it's just battle after battle, and it's just not... exciting. Not to mention that the characters aren't terrible compelling, nor does the story seem to have a point beyond Naruto doing awesome things in Anbu.

 

Agreed. It was a fun read, but I was always looking for something with a bit more substance. Actually, that was the reason I even read it as fast as I did.

Can someone suggest something like that: rebuilding of uzushio, gathering allies, konoha-villains, who are needed to be exterminated, rebirth of Uzumaki clan and all-out epic war for dominance.

Are you sure you're in the right place buddy? Because that fic sounds absolutely terrible for so many reasons it shouldn't be mentioned without a lengthy essay detailing, in depth, why it isn't the shitfic that it appears to be.

 

I feel like you've kind of missed the point of Life in Konoha's Anbu. The whole point of the story is that Naruto doesn't do "awesome thing in Anbu". He gets beaten. A lot. He very rarely ever wins any fights in that story.

One of the best things about the story is the worldbuilding that Shezza has done. The story itself is easier to visualise than the actual Naruto series itself. Sure, there's action (Though some may argue not enough) but the main thing that attracted me to the story was worldbuilding and the chracter interaction, not to mention Naruto's realistic ascension through the ranks of Anbu.

 

Jesus christ those line breaks. Every time I see them I'm taken out of the story and want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon. Yeah, gonna have to pass on that one.

 

I remember reading that one many years ago. Naruto hooks up with both his mother and sister (at fourteen years old or so IIRC), calls Kyuubi 'Foxy-chan', for some reason has the Mokuton, and Minato was a dick. Like, it was Kushina that invented the Rasengan and the Hiraishin. Oh, and mobs tried to chase him. And the Kyuubi was powered by 'yoki'.

Funny how memory works. The more absurd things are, the easier they become to remember.

Edit: Oh yeah, Kushina was watching the first time Naruto banged his sister.

 

I really like Life in Konoha's ANBU, but actually I see his point. The battles are plentiful and drawn out and the pace of the character development is fairly slow. Clearly he gets stronger and becomes more respected, that's not what I mean. It is hard to see a real difference in mindset and maturity from start to finish. His behaviors don't really change, only his capabilities and responsibilities.

Which makes sense, of course, because what we've seen of him so far is only about a single year of his life, give or take. I'm not arguing that it is wrong or bad; I'm just saying it is not a story you read if you want to see a transformation of Naruto's character.

 

It is a valid point and as you've said, we've only been given a glimpse at a single year of his life. A year where he only just turned 13 and yet has experienced so very much. It's been stated multiple times that his maturity is lacking and that is in no small part to his own personality shaped and crafted by Sarutobi and the ANBU program. From what I've seen so far, each specific challenge Naruto has had has been a catalyst for him to examine himself more and more while also giving his character ample reason to develop both physically and emotionally.

Honestly I think we've seen plenty of character development. Just not in the ways we'd like or expect. It's slow, but what we're seeing (I believe) is a steady change in Naruto's character into what he'll become in the future. This is (more than likely) because, instead of him already having a character to serve as a foundation for development, he's establishing that foundation himself. When we first saw him, he was a child professional with little to nothing to him besides his relationship with the Third and Konohamaru. This story, from how I see it, is about him discovering who Uzumaki Naruto is; What he wants and what he values and what he hates.

I'll see if I can scrounge up anything worth reading, but as far as I can think of off the top of my head, most stories that have the premise of a rebuilt Uzumaki clan are shit.

That story is trash but I'm not gonna hold it against you. We all have to start somewhere and you like what you like.

Personally, I have it on alert, but I wouldn't really call it good. All the fucking OCs are named and styled after Fairy Tail characters (as in the manga if anyone's confused), and that personally is a really big pet peeve of mine - to name and use the personality of other works of fiction in your fanfiction - but maybe it won't be as irritating to some? The writing quality isn't bad, at least.

 

Yeah, I never really did enjoy that story too very much. It all felt rather forced and held no real substance to me other than as a time waster. I wouldn't normally recommend it but it was the only fic I could find of any readable quality that followed the theme of rebuilding the Uzumaki Clan. Sorry danil123, but it's something.

I've never heard of that fic, Hymsicality. Can you provide a link or a brief description so I know what I might be looking for?

 

Going by some of the descriptions from you guys, I fee like I've read this before. Only, it wasn't just fairy tail characters getting pulled in. I remember some distinctly bleach ones too. Like the women who could turn into a cat.

I also remember it being discontinued because the author had a life threatening illness? I don't think this story is one in the same. I'm just getting a weird deja vu vibes from this.

While I don't completely agree on the point that he gets beaten a lot, I kinda have to agree with this. For me, what separates LIKA from many other stories is how human the characters feel. From Naruto's interactions with his team all the way to the dynamic that he and The Sandaime possess.

How real and human a story is is what normally sets it above the rest for me, and this goes for Harry Potter fanfiction as well with stories such as Grow Young With Me.

 

I'm sure something somewhere just died at this comparison between Life In Konoha's ANBU and fucking Grow Young With Me.
