Correct. It is literally the opposite.

But, voting for somebody that's not a viable wagon is a vanity vote.

Doing what I just asked Jan to do is how I personally decide if something is a viable wagon. Clearly other people use other methods or don't even think about viable wagons.

And I did so after Jan made a strong statement about the viability of the Delphine wagon. He specifically said that nearly everybody is scumreading her, and nobody is townreading her. If that's the case, it should be a really easy wagon to make happen, especially because her scumbuddies are supposedly scumreading her and would be willing to buss for towncred.

But then his proposed wagon isn't easy at all, has key differences to how it would actually go down (most notably me, despite him talking to me, and me having a real vote on Delphine earlier in the game), and doesn't really consider bussing.

It really comes across to me as an opportunistic push based entirely on font's stated willingness to flash wagon Delphine.

This though experiment seems more fun than trying to parse delph's ExplosionAtAPaintFactoryWall.

Those two are, admittedly, not exactly my most well thought out townreads. But I still find it unlikely they both totally snowed me. Especially wei since sesc does seem like he's holding back a bit.
But if that's the world we're in, I think I want to call delph the third, mainly due to some soft unalignments betwixt jan/wei and sesc/bill.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I literally suggested that they might be doing the exact thing yesterday. But if Jan is town, and I think he is, then it's not scum codefending. Which then makes fonti likely to be town.

What else is there to add? I found him suspicious because he vanished from the thread and therefore said I wanted to keep an eye on him, not necessarily because of what he had posted.

Why do you think I should have noted what I thought of tom's opinions more than what I said about him in general, ie "seems okay"?

Do you think I should have considered her opinion on Von/you noteworthy at the time?

    Define shade here.

Why should I have had a vote down at that point? How does that detract from the point that Jan at that point had ample opportunity to have changed the RVS vote compared to me having just come into the thread?

No? Read that post again and the context.

Why is that response soft? Would you not have called out someone for voting for you?

Where do you see Atum calling out my soft response?

    Define shade here.

Was posting before sleep, why do you think I would have wanted to vote for someone else without having the chance to reevaluate the thread at the time?

    That word. "Opportunistic"
    I don't like it here.

    Hey weiyaoli ,

Before you get buried in defending yourself, could you take a moment to give us the fruits of your Jan reread?

    Thanks!

Feel free to question him, but that was a pretty righteously townie defense IMO.

I was in the middle of the reread, so I'm going to try and finish it now. Currently it's in a form of my thoughts about each of Jan's posts in my QT so need to consolidate etc... too.

    No.

If Jan is scum that's legitimately trying to survive toDay, Delph is clear. And I do think that regardless of alignment, Jan is trying to survive.

But he /could/ be resigned to dying here and is channeling his energy into bussing. Like he did in WH14 with me. Dude can write some angry bussing walls. I'm not feeling it, but I haven't ruled it out.

Didn't you post last game that "Thug's posting style is scummy, that's just how he rolls?" I don't think looking for viable wagons is scummy, I think its necessary. Especially since scum are a voting block with a vested interest in making scum lynches look less viable.

Sorry, kid, but i vote on people for pressure and/or because i think they are scummy.

I would never go through every persons read and think if my vote is viable, because i believe myself to be able to change minds if needed.

Since you think my vote might be opportunistic, what is my gain here?

Pushing an area that fonti suggested before. Fonti si already townreading me, so is bill door. no gain in either world.

I could be with bill door, in that world delphine is town and we are pushing a misslynch on her and try to live another day.
That is the exact and sole world. That world almost always loses the game because - who is our third partner?

If Bill Door is town and I am scum, I always stay on him, get a lynch on someone who is townreading me and move on.
Getting towncred because a confirmed town townread you and you lynched him anyway is the juiciest thing in the world.

Maybe delphine is my partner and I ... want the towncred by pushing something that is less likely to succeed than the current main wagon?!

The point is, there is no motivation for me to do it, outside of saying this now, which means i have to predict you going crazy before my action.

And you do realize that while some people read me scummy and are voting for me, if they realize they do not get the 7 votes for the softlynch they can easily be swayed to lynch delphine who they read scummy as well.

Add to that the fact that you only need 1-2 strong personalities to boss von around and he will change his vote anyway.
Tom thinks delphine is my partner, which makes him likely to vote her if he can't get me.
And regardless of her alignment scum might bus or push a misslynch on her if it seems viable. But why would I read into who i think would bus her on which postion, when I do not even know who is around at what time during EoD?
Assuming such things is just bonkers and does not help me solve the game.

There are more than enough people who might be fine with a lynch, everything else does not matter too much for now.

Worst case it at least gives a shitton of reactions.

Hi, people that are around should give opinions on this last exchange between me/Jan.

I feel my response to you was a bit more dickish then it needed to be, mal.

I have never thought about my vote being not viable in the case of delphine, because several people called her scummy before, and even if people might believe her to be my partner, they might vote on her when they realize that I am not a viable lynch.

    Hamilton - Cabinet Battle #1

People who believe me to be town are likely to join in because they see how bad her accusation on me is.

I would be fine with a Bill Door lynch as well, but .. him townreading me out of nowhere is just weird. I don't know his scum range. I have done such things as scum and gotten mad towncred for it, but that is a pretty tricky play to pull off and if it backfires you just die.

    ---------- Post automerged at 19:36 ---------- Previous post was at 19:34 ----------

    Translation :

I hate him, I hate his play, I hate his opinion, I hate his guts .. I hate everything he stands for right now.
But all that does not need to be indicative for him being scum.

Anyways - more people in this joint would be fun.

I'm not going to be back until probably 15 minutes before day end. You might get an updated vote count like, 5 minutes before the day ends, but I wouldn't count on it.

I've linked the timer repeatedly, so good luck!

That definitely sounds like something I would say.

As for the rest, yeah ok. I more or less like where you're at (other than the wei stuff and thinking jan/delph is the most likely pairing).
    Pressure withdrawn.

Hmm, lets ignore the mechanics for a moment to look at the inverse of your assumption. I wanted lump so I could survive the night BECAUSE if I didn't get lump, I was unlikely to survive the night. Yeah, no.

Let's go over why people didn't want to give me lump earlier. Its because I'm obvious when I'm town, and I'm already a tempting nk target, so I'd be a poor priest check. We want to give lump to players that aren't widely townread and that the scumteam doesn't already want to kill. Even better, we'd like the soft-townfirm to get rid of a mislynch that the scumteam needs. Additionally, we want to threaten to give it to scumteam members because they don't want the priest check that comes with it.

My statement was "Hey, I've been away from the thread long enough that people's reads on me have deteriorated, and other people are clearer town leaders. At this point, the scumteam might think that they can mislynch me, and doesn't want to have to nk me."
    1. Mentioning that is unnecessary, imo.

    2. Your conclusion was "seems ok". Your explanation focused on the part that made him "null"

    3. Well, you then spend a bunch of time after this questioning the Atum read. Weird to me that you don't spend a similar amount of time questioning her other reads, or comparing and contrasting her Atum read with her other reads.

    4. Casting suspicion on somebody without actually committing to scumreading them.

    5. You should always have a vote down. It doesn't weaken that point about Jan, but it calls into question why /you/ would make that point. Feels like easy point scoring for pointing out something that others will agree with, but that you don't fully believe yourself (that people should always update and have serious votes)

    6. Ok, sorry. This is why I should always Ctr-F instead of using the search function.

    7. Do you think "Explain please" qualifies as a hard call-out? And no, I generally don't question people voting me with no reason. More informative to see when and how they explain themselves, and continue scumhunting.

    8. What do you think this is:
If its not saying "My initial vote was fishing for a reaction and your reaction was scummy, so now I really think that you're scum and my vote is real now, not just a test"

    9. Again, you're calling me scummy, but voting for the person voting me /because/ they're voting me. You're half-assing your vote there by saying that you agree with Bill's sentiment. You're trying to have it both ways, kill somebody by white knighting me, but keep me in the possible mislynch pool.

    10. I think that when you're about to leave the thread is the most important time to make sure your votes are where you want them. Town should use their votes to update the thread on where their head is, even if they don't have time to explain. Scum are the only ones that need to triple check to make sure they don't have bad votes. For that reason, its often better to look for scummy stale votes/abstains, than to look for bad pushes. Doing nothing with your vote is a bigger sin than doing something attention grabbing and bad looking.

    ---------- Post automerged at 14:09 ---------- Previous post was at 14:06 ----------

But, uh, I think I've actually come around to to this opinion:
while I was typing that up.

imma change my vote in a moment, need to review a couple things first.

    ---------- Post automerged at 14:19 ---------- Previous post was at 14:09 ----------

Sure, let's see where this goes:

    Day1 Vote Delphine

I need to do other things now, will be back before EoD to freak out about the state of the thread and consolidate if I need to.

Discussing hypothetical wagons is a pretty nonsensical/unproductive thought exercise.
