Sets rotate at the beginning of each new 'year' (it's currently year of the Kraken). They basically coincide with calendar years.

So, IIRC, BRM and TGT will rotate out beginning of next year.

Blizzard is going to be so fucking happy that they don't have to design cards around Emperor once it rotates out. It's gonna give them so much room.

 

They'll need to replace it though, otherwise they murder combo decks. Not exact like for like (maybe a weapon that reduces spells by 1 per durability etc), but something.

 

I don't think they do. There were combo decks before Emperor, and there will be combo decks once he's gone. People are just going to have to work within the mana limits like they did before, and that's not really a big deal.

The big deal is having a card like Emperor that dramatically shifts the game in a way that means Blizzard has to say "Okay, this is a cool card with a cool concept... but what if Emperor reduces its mana cost. Is that okay? Shit, can't put this in."

It's not about whether or not Emperor is "strong" or anything. It's that it actually has a dramatic effect on how the game itself is made.

 

A couple of new cards revealed:

Fool's Bane

Warrior Common Weapon.

Cost: 5. Attack: 3. Durability: 4.

Effect: Unlimited attacks per turn. Can't attack heroes.

Portal to Moonglade

Druid Rare Spell.

Cost: 6

Effect: Restore 6 health. Summon a random 6-cost minion.

 

What viable combo decks existed before Emp?

They're barely viable now with it, save OTK War, and that's got more to do with their insane draw.

Yea the priest cards are shit.

Although the Onyx Bishop is interesting. I think it's the first real graveyard search card we have seen and it puts it on the board instead of hand.

 

Resurrect existed previously, but this gives a decent body attached to the effect which is nice.

 

Thats random though. This one seems to be a proper search, where you get to pick the card. Don't think there are any other cards in HS that allow for that

I've been playing around with the resurrect priest and while the deck itself isn't that good I am having fun with it. Personal best 6 sylvanas in a single game.
