    Cursed Child Spoilers

Rodolphus LeStrange has spent most of his adult life serving the Dark Lord. He has always been loyal to his Master even spending 15 years in Azkaban for the man when others turned their backs and claimed to be bewitched into following him.

Yet when he finds out that Voldemort intends on/is actively trying to impregnate his wife (Bellaltrix) into carrying his heir, Rodolphus cannot serve a man who is cuckolding him. So he sets forth an 'Operation Valkyrie' type of plan to assassinate a man who by all accounts cannot be killed.

    ---

In terms of canon, it's pretty clear that Bellatrix loves Voldemort and while that's okay with Rodolphus but the active cuckolding is what finally sends him over the edge. He married Bellatrix as a status symbol, he was proud of having her as his wife since there were several others who would have loved to have her on their arm. However, with Voldemort cuckolding him not only does Rodolphus lose that status but he is also actively ridiculed within the Death Eater circles.

Enraged, the proud Pureblood asks for his brothers' help and the two set out to recruit more disenchanted followed of the Dark Lord to begin an insurrection of their own in order to off Voldemort.

    • Somewhere along the line, they accidentally discover that Tom Riddle is a Half-Blood giving them for fodder for their own campaign.
    • The Brothers LeStrange (and any other Voldemort followers) would have to figure out a way around the Dark Mark
    • Discovery of the creation and subsequent hunt for Riddle's Horcruxes.

Not much of a plot bunny, but I would like to read a HP/Vikings crossover.

A little older than when he defeated Voldemort, more experienced Harry finds himself in the past after a magical accident. These are the Dark Ages for Muggles, but after King Arthur's death and Merlin's imprisonment, for a magical part of the Europe too.

With no wand and very limited possibilities of finding his way home, Harry must adjust to his new life. Considering that he's an Auror and what I would expect the dark wizards to be capable of, I would say that the brutality of the world around him would only give him a moment of pause, but the different language and the whole different way of life is another matter.

I would give him an extensive knowledge of all kinds of magic though, so he has at least a chance to return to his time which would be his main goal. The rest would be typical Potter's luck getting involved in things he shouldn't.

If there is a romance involved, it would be with Lagertha, but I'm unsure if Harry would survive it. ;)

The premise is that during Harry's 6th year the canon world is contacted by travelers from another reality. These wizards come from a world where Voldemort never existed which led to a safer and more peaceful wizarding society. Indirectly, this also led to the discovery of inter-dimensional travel.

The Department of Mysteries from the other dimension makes contact with their counterparts in the Canon world and eventually with Minister Scrimgeour. The possible advantage of staying in contact with another reality proves too good to ignore and Rufus asks them for help in defeating the Dark Lord.

Unfortunately, Voldemort's spies also learn of this and inform their master. While at first reluctant, Scrimgeour informs Dumbledore as the idea of Voldemort getting his hands on inter-dimensional travel is horrifying.

As the Ministries of the two realities cooperate, one of the Unspeakables from the other reality is kidnapped by Death Eaters. He is taken to Voldemort and the Dark Lord eventually forces him to reveal how to open inter-dimensional gates.

Needless to say, this is a disaster as Voldemort opens up his own gate to another world, searching for allies. He discovers a reality where Gellert Grindelwald killed Dumbledore and took over the world. The two make a pact and plan to conquer every reality they find.

Thanks to Snape, Dumbledore finds out about this and so begins a race to discover more realities in search of allies.

Harry would of course feature prominently, him being a horcrux and the main hero.

Since Dumbledore only has a year to live, he would probably give as much information as he can to his counterpart from the No-Voldemort dimension and would have him mentor Harry.

If I were to write this, I'd make sure that the other realities aren't too similar to canon or to each other. For example, in the Grindelwald-Victory world, Tom Marvolo Riddle was born, but never became Voldemort and was eventually killed by Grindelwald's forces.

With such a premise, you'd be able to get away with any world you want. You can have Head Auror Gilderoy Lockhart answering to Minister for Magic Xenophilius Lovegood.

Your bunny reminds me of my own as it's always fun to have a different version of characters meet each other. One possible problem I can predict with your take is that the amount of them can quickly get out of hand. You either risk having dozens of Dumbledores and Voldemorts involved in the whole affair or you need an explanation why they are missing from the alternate universes. Or maybe make the main Harry somehow special to explain why the fic's focus is on him and his version of the Dark Lord.

I was thinking that the number of worlds could be limited to 7, fits with the theme of HP.

    For example:

1 - Canon. Dumbledore cursed and will die in a year.

    2 - Voldemort never born.

3 - Grindelwald killed Dumbledore, took over the world. Riddle died shortly after school.

4 - Founders Split and built separate schools. Canon characters don't exist due to the butterfly effect.

5 - Goblin-dominant reality where humans are an oppressed minority and denied wands.

6 - A world where Tom Marvolo Riddle actually turned out a fine guy and became Minister for Magic. Dumbledore retired and eventually died of old age.

7 - A horror dimension with many dementors and other terrifying creatures.

You remember this guy from Sabrina: The Animated Series?
    That's Tim the Witchsmeller.

Let's ignore the immortality for now and we basically have a squib, who bears a nasty grudge against wizards and witches.

Change Leonardo da Vinci for Nicolas Flamel, who saw the genius in a young squib and took pity on him. Unbeknownst to Nicolas however young Tim managed to replicate the Philosopher's Stone, which gave him the time and resources to follow his dream. Hunt his magical tormentors.

This would be a story, leaning towards horror, with a villain protagonist, who murders his way through the ages with a combination of muggle and magical gadgets.

After seeing the atrocities of some dark wizards against muggles you could even build him up to be something similar to the Punisher.
The final arc would be in Britain. After hearing about the death of Nicolas and Perenelle, who he was somewhat fond of and making the connection to the events in Harry's first year he decides to investigate, maybe even going so far to decide, that he should kill the golden child of the wizarding world.

After tracking down Harry to his relatives and witnessing his torment, which reminds him of his childhood he aborts the mission.

He hangs around Britain until the resurrection of Voldemort, who, he is quick to realize, is an unprecedented monster, which might be his final mission.

That sounds pretty cool, man! Although, even with his longevity, what could he do?

I haven't seen the animated series, but you made me excited about Sabrina all over again. Time to rewatch the TV show and gush over younger Melissa Joan Hart.

That could work and I especially like 7th. It also gave me an idea for another plot bunny world.

Magic is not neutral and there is no good magic either. The canon version of Hogwarts and magic is just a lie told to the parents of the Muggleborns. In reality everything is exactly as the church say it is and often involves sacrifices or pacts with demons. In Potions you learn the best way to skin a man alive for example.

Breeding and training monstrous creatures like Nundus to hunt.

Look into herbology. For example creating a highly aggressive Devil's Snare. Plant the seed near a magical home at night, water it with a growth inducing potion and watch how it bypasses wards and grows into the house to strangle everybody inside in their sleep.

There was Wendelin the Weird, who used the flame freezing charme and got her kicks out of witch hunts until someone threw bottled Fiendfyre at her stake.

An immortal seeking out the greatest muggle minds that followed him. From Da Vinci to Curie and Tesla. Using his accumulated wealth and knowledge to help them further their studies and simultaneously increasing his own knowledge and arsenal.

Melissa Joan Hart and Salem were the best.

That reminds me that I always wanted to read a serious fic about Salem and his attempt to take over the world. Or maybe have him try it again, just a short revolution with Sabrina involved, but ending in a failure and with him returning to being a cat.

    Like a magical Napoleon.

I seriously need to flesh out a setting of Sabrina the Teenage Witch but with Potterverse magic.

I'd probably ignore the stuff on Pottermore about America. While I accept it as canon, I don't have to be bound by it.

Mega Magic - Harry Potter / Wunschpunsch crossover

There exists an ancient scroll on which a single spell is written. It cannot be copied to another scroll, it cannot be remembered and most curiously of all, it doesn't work if the person attempting to use it does not hold the scroll.

This spell is the spell of Mega Magic. Magic which affects a very large area, such as a city.

In order to use it, the witch or wizard in possession of the scroll must create a specific potion which shall grant the spell its desired nature. In this potion, items pertaining to the spell's nature must be dissolved.

Once that is done, the spell from the scroll must be cast by a wizard or a witch at the potion. Note that parts of the incantation change depending on the desired effect of the mega magical spell.

If everything is done properly, then the spell shall be activated immediately on the target area and will stay in a temporary state for the next seven hours.

During those seven hours, the spell can still be reversed. But after that, it becomes permanent. It will be impossible to remove using other spells, even those enhanced by mega magic. It will simply become a fact of life.

It is curious that the chaotic powers of the Bermuda Triangle refuse to be contained.

Mega Magic does have certain limits though. It cannot cause direct death, one cannot simply amplify the Killing Curse and eradicate entire cities. Spells like the Imperius Curse or the Cruciatus will also fail to be amplified.

There was once a time when Dementors did not exist.

    ***

The date is December 31st, 1989. The location is Munich, Germany.

It has been eight years since the downfall of Lord Voldemort.

It has been a year since Barty Crouch Jr. overcame his father's Imperius and escaped Britain searching for the Dark Lord.

Barty sits alone in a tavern in the magical part of the city. As the clock on the wall strikes 5 pm, there is a great, green flash of light above Munich.

Could it be the Dark Mark? The wizard is curious and goes outside. Several wizards on the street also notice the unusual light show on the sky.

It is clearly magical in nature, muggle fireworks cannot make green lightning bolts rage across the skies. And of course, muggle fireworks eventually stop while this show continues on with no signs of stopping.

His curiosity even higher, Barty investigates and travels around the town. He discovers that the muggles are incapable of seeing the lights, further proving that the effect must be magical in nature.

Eventually however, Barty finds the source of the show. An old dilapidated manor near the cemetery. The lightning bolts seem to bend towards its roof.

Barty, after making sure he isn't seen, comes to the manor and spies through the windows what is making such a powerful display.

He sees an old, balding wizard and an equally old, fat witch arguing over a bubbling, glowing, bright-green potion from which the occasional lightning bolt escapes.

Barty uses a simple eavesdropping charm to listen on to their conversation.

"...your fault! I concocted the potion exactly as it was written!"

"And I cast the spell as it was required! The entire town should be dead by now! Why wasn't the Killing Curse amplified?!"

"Why should I know, you stupid wench? The Scroll is said to make every spell greater!"

    "Unless... not the Unforgivables?"

    There is silence.

"Well. We can't cast another one for the next seven hours anyway. Our, ah, benefactor will be here soon though. You better come up with something."

At this point, Barty has heard enough. Somehow these two have found a way to make spells affect entire cities. This is an opportunity he cannot ignore and seconds later Barty is inside the manor.

The two are taken by surprise and fall to Barty's killing curse quickly.

Barty picks up the scroll and in an instant, it reveals its miraculous secrets to him. The instructions are difficult, but possible for a competent wizard like him.

Clearly, the Dark Lord will be proud of him after receiving such a powerful item.

Barty leaves Munich that night, the skies above it still raging with green lights.

    **

May 5th, 1990. Knockturn Alley, London.

Five months and still no results.

The ingredients required for the potion are incredibly difficult to procure. Not only that, but they seem to change as does the method of adding them!

One ingredient changes depending on the brewer's favorite color, another one requires the brewer to be asleep when it is added.

However, Barty has other problems on his head as well. He was noticed once by an Auror and now, after his father was forced to admit Barty was rescued from Azkaban, the Aurors are searching for him.

Still, Barty is sure he can create the potion and then use the spell.

    ***

    September 10th, 1991.

    Hogsmeade.

The potion was ready, bubbling in the rented room above Three Broomsticks.

Now Barty only needed to speak with Lord Voldemort. He was tracking him while searching for the ingredients in Albania, but one day the Dark Lord simply vanished.

It was only later that Barty found out the true reason and the name Quirinus Quirrell.

Barty had sent an owl to Quirrell, describing himself in vague terms only the Dark Lord would understand. He received a reply with a command to remain in his room and wait.

And so Barty waited now, studying the Scroll once more.

What should they cast? A mass Obliviate? Or perhaps turn everyone into toads? Or maybe do something even powerful. After years of studying the mysterious scroll, Barty found out that it changes some of its contents, revealing even more dark secrets.

A knock on the door and a second later Barty is opening it only to face a loud "Stupefy" from one of the Aurors. He shields himself just in time only thanks to his superb skills.

The fighting breaks out just as Quirrell is entering the village and is noticed by Barty.

Knowing that the situation can be saved only one way, Barty takes the scroll and begins casting the mega magic.

As the incantation begins gathering power, the very ground of the village begins to shake. Dark clouds gather above it. Centaurs in the Forbidden Forest flee in terror.

Barty points his wand at the potion and finishes his spell with a loud Impedimenta!

    The potion roars.

The aurors cast their stunners at Barty.

    Time stops.

A student's quill at Hogwarts freezes in mid-air instead of hitting the floor.

A bird in the Forbidden Forest stops mid-flight.

People in the tavern below are like unmoving statues.

    Time stands still.

Barty moves freely, the scroll still in his hand.

He notices Quirrell, also unmoving on the street before the Three Broomsticks.

Barty quickly reads through the scroll, looking for ways to reverse the spell until the seven hours pass and it becomes permanent.

The instruction isn't there. "Why isn't it here?!" he rages.

"Funny how that works, doesn't it?"

Barty turns around and sees a truly hideous creature.

Green skin, twin antennae on a bald head, muggle business suit.

"Maledictus Maggot, at your service, Mr. Crouch. I believe you have something that belongs to me."

Harry Potter and the Ancient Aliens(for real yo).

About a decade after the second wizarding war concluded, the Ministries of Magic around the world all begin receiving a mysterious signal from near-earth orbit. For the first time in recorded history alien life makes contact and establishes itself as an advanced species that once originated on an earth in a parallel dimension, having long since evolved to become more in tune with the nature of magic and ascend beyond mortal parameters.

While under the guise of studying the state of wizardkind to determine if they shall intervene and grant assistance and elevation to the same plateaus, in truth they have come to reclaim a member of their own who fled here long ago and to rescind the gifts bestowed on wizardkind against the natural order by the refugee(which ranges across all brands of advanced magic and theory, but most importantly the Deathly Hallows).

In time they determine that Harry Potter is the one most connected to the nature of the refugee and descend to meet with him. Harry, being among the best of the Auror department with a slightly harder and more protracted education in Hogwarts and subsequent war against Voldemort, naturally views this entire thing with suspicion yet agrees to the meeting at first under pressure from the British Ministry.

These figures are less flesh-and-blood and more ethereal, more energy and magic given a corporeal state, which at once is a boon against traditional methods of harm and the fatigues of mortality and a weakness to be exploited if one could understand how to tap into their existence and bind or bleed it away. They have measures in place to protect against such things -- but the Elder Wand is too similar and powerful and is Harry's only way of overriding their defenses and scattering them when the conversation inevitably teases at the truth and proceeds to go sour.

Still, Harry is forced on the retreat as they begin to regroup and whips out his Invisibility Cloak as he escapes. The next arc would feature these advanced beings declaring war against the world with the excuse of the transactions against magic and the sanctity of life which Grindelwald and Voldemort performed in the last hundred years, deeming the wizarding world too far advanced as it is to safely utilize the knowledge and power it has amassed.

Harry is believed to be the cause of this decision as he was the last known human to speak with the higher beings. The British Ministry attempts to bring him in in the hopes of rectifying and calming the situation, while Harry realizes that they've said more than they should have - by specifically naming the two most recent Dark Wizards, both of whom had ties to the Deathly Hallows, Harry can look back at what it was Grindelwald in particular was up to after claiming the Elder Wand to find the refugee himself and see about getting direct assistance to eliminate these things.

He gathers what intel he can from Godric's Hollow and eventually departs for broader Europe. Somewhere in Germany Harry finds the leftovers of Grindelwald's regime and magical footprints on the earth and eventually discovers that 'Death' has been in retreat in a pocket dimension of the Black Forest. He has to pass the necessary trials to reach where Death is staying at and then attempt to coerce the ancient creature to leave its sanctuary and help wizardkind again.

Death refuses to budge. But the matter is forced when the same beings break in, having tracked Harry(either through his magic ala the Trace or via the aura of the Death Stick itself which would have had some tether to their own energy now).

Harry and Death fight together and in the end Harry is forced out of the pocket dimension as Death binds them all alongside itself there and closes the gate behind Harry's back, trapping all of the alien beings. Harry returns to a world left in shambles, and the certainty that others of this kind may exist and come to finish the job spurs him to rally the wizarding world together to rebuild itself and prepare.

Cue timeskip. A hundred years or so. Another band of alien entities arrive. Waiting for them is an aged Harry Potter ala Dumbledore. A great teacher and fighter who has educated generations on the danger down the road, who has never fallen off the wagon in his own personal study and training and growth. The world may not be wholly united given how long it took for the next round to arrive, but enough people gather at Harry's call and this time around the enemy is chased back to whence it came - and Harry follows on 'his next great adventure' to end them all for good, with or without a few friends and allies.

I have always found the idea of taking the "The Tales of Beedle The Bard" and giving them a Grimm's Fairy Tale twist. Essentially the original versions of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" are much darker then the version that Dumbledore bequeathed unto Hermione. How this could fit into an overall plot I am not as sure, perhaps along the lines of a post-Deathly Hollows fiction, or take it back earlier... Perhaps Hermione found an earlier edition or a different version altogether of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard".

Here's something new. An alternate universe created by mistyping two key words. I'll probably do more in the future.

    Mistyped Challenge #1

It is the year 1991 and Wizarding Britain is still recovering from the terrible civil war which ended nearly a decade ago.

It all started when the powerful Drak Lord, also known as the King of Dragons and his loyal supporters have begun a violent campaign to take over the nation. Using fiendfyre, an army of dragons and the mysterious Heliopaths the Drak Lord caused countless deaths, significant damage to the land and almost broke the Statute of Secrecy.

In 1980 the Drak Lord learned of a prophecy which heralded the arrival of a Chosen One which would defeat him. Wanting to prevent this, he ordered his supporters to kill every child born at the end of July, which is when the supposed Chosen Was was to be born. They sent out dragons to make sure the children would be consumed by flames.

Dragons, being ruthless and bloodthirsty creatures obeyed without question and attacked house after house killing children from known families such as Longbottoms.

However, at one house it all changed. When a dragon arrived at the house of the Potter family, intending to burn the baby Harry Potter something went wrong. Perhaps it was some unknown magic, or maybe the powers of fate itself have decided to intervene, but instead of murdering the child the dragon lied down before it in submission.

Soon other dragons came, as if called by a sound only heard by them and abandoned the Drak Lord in favor of the boy. Furious at this betrayal, the Drak Lord himself came to the house with many Heliopaths and attempted to kill the child. And that's where it all ended because even with his power, the King of Dragons had no dragons left while Harry Potter had all of them. Soon the forces of the Ministry of Magic arrived as well and the Drak Lord's forces were defeated while he fled into hiding.

After that day, Harry Potter was declared the Boy Who Loved Dragons which now came to be friendly allies of the people instead of the violent beasts they were under their former master.

But evil never sleeps and a decade later there are again signs that the Drak Lord may return...

I was toying with this idea for a while, but I couldn't get it right. Can't seem to wrangle a xover. Might as well share.

    Harry Potter/Heroes of Might & Magic 4

Starts when Harry jumps into the Veil after Sirius, because it's a convenient point to introduce a dimension hop and Harry can't apparate, which means he'll have to cover the distances. Apparition could easily be an OP tool in a world where the journey is so integral to everything.

Harry lands on planet Axeoth, in a hostile land. His wand broke and he's super confused. Cue adjusting to this new world and meeting some of the key Heroes from the game, because that's the whole point. Harry's ultimate goals would be to determine if Sirius ended up here as well and if so (and he's still alive) to find him and, of course, returning to his home dimension. For this purpose, I imagined that he would aim to consult in some capacity the most powerful known wizards. In the game, you can make any character an Archmage if you so wish, but there are a few that are canon superwizards (described that way).

One of them is the Big Bad of the Order campaign, the Immortal King Gavin Magnus. I envisioned Harry entering Magnus' service as he relearns magic within the local magic system and hoping to find a way home under the tutelage of Magnus, who is both a powerful sorcerer and has some experience with dimension hopping (this has to do with the Reckoning in the HOMM lore).

More importantly, it would put Harry in conflict with the in-game protagonists, Emilia Nightheaven and Solmyr. Harry would also be faced with Magnus' tyrannical leanings and having to fight the "good guys", because Harry believes that Magnus is his best hope of going home.

The ending (which was the only thing that I really got to click) would be Harry turning on Magnus like Solmyr had and the epilogue would have Harry embarking on a journey to meet another powerful mage he learns about: Gauldoth Half-Dead, which would be so Harry to be pulled into another world-saving adventure, or Mysterio the Magnificent, who's just an asshole, or Bhob the Archmage, on yet another world-saving quest. Poor Harry just can't catch a break.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is Harry's wand breaking, that's my pet peeve. Other than that, interesting idea all around!

    However...

    >not HoMM 3 instead

    Boo! Boo I say!

I haven't played Heroes 4 to be honest, so I'm unfamiliar with the characters. But then again I did not play Heroes 3 for characters either.

This sounds like a cool world and everything - is there any written works? Because honestly, I loved the game (well, version three), but I never really even knew there's any backstory to it - just blah blah intro, here, you play with this hero.
