Hayama looks a lot like that boxer guy from kenichi.

Chapter wasn't bad but I agree with Hugplx, it is a bit weird.

This new level of strip is strong, but still not as strong as Alice's Mom's.

For a second I thought we'd have a pussy tie, but it comes down to the Nakiri uncle. By this point, p sure Souma will win, because there still hasn't been any clues as to some asspull rule that would allow him to escape expulsion.

Edit: Yeah. Making a visual gimmick (mostly used for fanservice) as an in-universe plot point? Eeeeh.

I wouldn't be so certain. If that were the case, it seems like they'd have just ended the chapter with that note and let Souma do his whole 'it wasn't much' routine. The cliffhanger seems to hint at a different outcome. He needs to win, though. He's already taken two losses to Spiceboy, and a third would be just pathetic.

I don't think anyone wanted a "scientific" (let's call it that) explanation for the stripping. That's just dumb.

Well, there's no doubt about the victor now, but I hated the message of the chapter. Feh, your skill in cooking should surpass all these feelings of the heart crap.

I think you misunderstood what was being said, here. The point being made was that Hayama didn't really put his all into it. His motivation wasn't there, and that led to less than 100% from him. Which is perfectly reasonable.

Page 16. The line was '"I want someone to call this delicious." You've lost that desire, haven't you?'

I get it that Hayama isn't cooking from his heart. But if you're a good enough chef, you shouldn't rely on constant absolute passion to make it taste delicious.

The thing here is that Hayama lost cause his heart wasn't really into it, going alone to the dark side, without Jun. There's a message about friendship there, and I dislike it. Cooking for someone's sake somehow being better than just cooking to beat someone.

That's the message but there's an implied factor that Hayama would discuss the dish with Jun, Jun could suggest theoretical improvements and Hayama could implement them. Nakiri respectingSoma using endless test dishes vs Hayama's v1.0 using E10 resources is a tiebreaker I can get behind.

---------- Post automerged at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 PM ----------

Amusingly Hayama probably would have won if he fully committed to the dark side and kept the researchers around. It was his waffling on the issue that brought on the loss.

That's the thing though. Hayama's dish was delicious. By any judge, his dish was excellent. It's just that when trying to beat someone of equal skill, you do need to put 100% of yourself into making it happen, and he didn't. In such a fierce competition, anything less than your best will cost you the victory.

Edit: I get what annoyed you, but I don't think this time the message was friendship. I also dislike it when that gets force-fed on the readers. This time though, it was an issue of commitment.

Even further then that, the sheer advantage the resources of the E10 give you almost made up for that lack of commitment. Things really aren't looking good for the rebels without some Deus Ex Machina in the works.

This is nothing new. Virtually from the first chapter his old man was trying to tell him that if he wanted to be truly great, find someone special to cook for.

    Soma is God, confirmed. Lol.

Also, who the fuck cares if the least interesting Aldini brother got the boot, I'm actually glad Hisako failed, but holy fucking shit Nikumi noooooooooooo~ My best girl, gone T_T Supposing the that the expulsions even go through, which I doubt.

I suppose this means all the other rebels won their respective matches against the E10? Huh.

Eh, probably not @ the last bit. I think it's pretty safe to assume that the 'lesser' Polar Stars got similarly crushed, and we'll probably see Megumi and Takumi's battle(s) with Rindou play out on panel. Kurokiba and Alice might have won, depending on who they got matched up against.

Azami is either a complete boob or he doesn't actually want to expel Souma, though. I mean, wasting the First Seat to deal with the crappier Aldini brother while sending the weakest link of the Elite Ten after Souma? I have to wonder what his real game is, because it doesn't seem to be the total destruction of the rebels. Taking out Souma would have completely destroyed their will to fight, yet Azami did what he did here.

Soma is God. Don't you understand?!

Btw, I love how Soma basically says 'ggez' after every win.

The idea was that each E10 member can very easily crush any first year, so who gets matched up with who shouldn't matter. Also, I disagree. Hayama at his best can go toe to toe with plenty of E10 members.

Why would they announce 3 losers to be expelled if more of them lost? The only explanation I can think of is that the other matches haven't happened yet.
