Oh, duh, the reason I kept missing the extra Hitman was because I was looking at the /remaining/ activity pool list.

The point of the Neighbourizer is to a) share your views and gain views in return with a person who’s reads you trust, and b) personally investigate this person for scummyness. It’s much harder to lie in a QT in a one-on-one scenario than in the game-thread, but from what I know of you, I believe it’s something you could and would do. You’re passionate, thorough, and do your very best. You’re already hard to read, and you would bring that into a Neighbour QT, making you one of the worst people to Neighbourize.

I’m not taking Typhon’s post about who he’d Neighbourize as a sign of scum. I already had a strong scum-read on him by the time of his post, but this is the one which made me go, “What???”

But you can override bids. You can’t change to another item, but you can outbid yourself on the one you’re already on.

Pretty much the only ones of note atm are town leans on Jan and Typhon.

Liked Koalas push here on Jarizok here and the post after...

    And here

So you think think Rubicon's early read on Vira was him trying to hand-wave a partner clear, distancing or both?

Don't understand the thought process on Koalas 168/172/174 re: typhon.

Doing other things, on my phone again.

Apparently I was not clear about what I was doing with the whole "I'm going to have my elect vote on whoever is the person I'm most town reading at the time I vote". I voted fontisian there as a sort of spiritual thumbs up to where I gauged her to be (it was a sort of tone of "goddammit we're going to make a plan and we're going to stick to it and I'm going to make sure of it by doing it myself", and I think she's less likely to take that exact angle as scum). I changed to Vira the next time I was online, because at that moment I felt that Vira was probably my strongest town read.

That's what I meant by keeping your votes fluid, and I intend to keep moving until we have someone solidly themself as lock town.

As for why I think Newcomb and fontisian are bad owners, that's a simple matter of them being good NK targets anyway. Sure, the heir system is in place, but there's no point in sweetening a target there. That's really it. I mean, that's why "ability to follow a plan" is important, right - if the owner listens, they're always as strong an owner as the strongest town player in the game, so having the strongest player in the game be the owner isn't particularly a bonus.

Having it be top town who listens to a plan and isn't one of the best players means scum has to at least spend some time considering their NK target.

---------- Post automerged at 06:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:54 PM ----------

I do agree with your conclusion. I just don't think the way you got there is the way that town Rubicon would have gotten there.

I think there's a difference between "it's more risky for scum to be anti-town than it is for town to be anti-town and I judge this player to be risk adverse" which is an iteration of "too scummy to be scum" for me, no matter what angle I try and approach it from, and "there are actions that are risky for scum players but not risky for town players, and this player I judged to be risk adverse participated in one".

Not certain that I'm making sense, but that's where my head is.

+1. I like Jan' s start as well here (which given my track record says he's probably scum, but nevermind that).

---------- Post automerged at 06:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------

Did you read my explanation as to why I would neighborize the people I said I would neighborize? How does it strike you?

Also, I have no clue why people feel like they could confirm people's alignments in a AT better than they could in the thread, that makes no sense at all to me.

Everybody is allowed to change their mind.
Talk to me about your reads then or whenever you are done with work and have a few spare minutes.

I will be honest. I am always suspect of people who give exactly 3 town and exactly 3 scumreads. (If i realize they did that).

Why do you have said people as town or scum?
The only thing you mentioned about Jari at the time was your dislike for his fluff election vote.
You mentioned the same afterwards in regard to toms election vote for Jarizok, but Tom is on neither of your lists.

Give me something hot or at least a tune to dance to.

Some things to add to this (and the rest of the post before, just didn't want to paste everything) ...

Vira and Fonti are not w/w, I think. The way Fonti progressed on Vira and had this doubtcasting moment in regards to the hitman part is way too stupid to be w/w.
There were somewhat valid reasons to give Vira towncred already floating in the thread and Fonti mentioned stuff that she missunderstood/never happened in regards to Vira. Just not a thing. Don't even come with "but I am afraid of Fonti being crazy". Yes she is insane, but there is some method to the madness and it is not "I am the worst at reading.".
If one of them ever flips wolf the other one is confirmed just from that.

I don't think I would make anti-alignment calls about Cobalt just yet ... I could see scum!cobalt bussing a partner in Jarizok by putting them in his scumcircle of 3 like that. Same for Rubicon. Vira way less likely. (He mentioned the other 2 with short snap reactions to a quote or two, while not mentioning Vira at all.
In a scum!cobalt world Vira is likely town just for the way he did that. He would want a little bit of credit for bussing a partner/try to distance by saying something about them. The empty scumreads is more spew in that world.
If Cobalt is town, then that does not matter at all.

Oh yeah and I don't think Rubicon/Jarizok are a team for this early response :
I don't think Jari handles Rubicon like a partner there. It feels weird, but not in a w/w way. It is a way to discredit Rubicon without actually attacking him.
As w/w he would push just a little bit harder to distance a bit or not mention it at all.
It is mostly gut feel, but maybe you can somewhat comprehend my thoughts.

    Newcomb :
What do you think about Koalas basically jumping on your picture, but he thinks Typhons playstyle is very scummy, while you apparent think it is somewhat towny?
And what was your picture for when you quoted his post?
It looked like you had some sort of read on him at the time, but now you have him as weakball-ish maybe town lean.

    ---------- Post automerged at 01:10 ---------- Previous post was at 01:07 ----------

And yes I realize that I said to not make anti-allignment calls in regards to cobalt .. and then made a call myself in the same paragraph.
Look things happen when you start writing stuff and they don't always seem 100% logical. My first call there was about calling cobalts alignment depending on Jaris flip, which is something I don't think is reasonable as of right now.

I understand what your pointing out here, but I have a couple of vague questions that sum up to approx, what conclusion did you draw from this?

Can you explain the Jan & Rubi nulls? Cause I disagree with both

Time to create some content :

    here a list!

    Vira

    The Waco Kid

    His Fluffiness
    Miner

    Newcomb
    Typhon

    Rubicon

    Fontisian
    Koalas
    Tom

    Jarizok

    Cobalt

Why are people on their spots on the list? I don't know, but I can give some vague thoughts anyway, might not repeat every read I gave before.

Waco, mostly gut and his early mist rogers bit. Feels good .. Bad reasons, but I will stick with it for now.

Fluff - Similar to Waco, my gut says town. In reality he should be in the null pile.

    Miner - I liked 1-2 reactions/slight pushes today.

Typhon - reads similar to the last two games. Fairly active and some overexplaining walltexts that are close to the last game. I wanted to kill him there, but apparently he does it as town.

Newcomb - His first post made me think of his 2nd game ever (and first scumgame) tinyhunt 2015. He made a post why he should get lumped with some fun and stupid reasoning, got lumped and got lucky, ebcause he didn't get checked.
This is only similar because he said something mostly mechanical, that had not been mentioned until that point, but was likely to be mentioned by someone later on (pretty sure scum!Newcomb would assume that to happen).
That would have been a pretty stellar cred-grab for him.
I liked most of his catch-up post(s). Made me feel better about it.

Fonti is fairly null. While I liked her early spirit .. it is gone in less than 24 hours and most of it was limping on a mechanical crutch. Need to see how she actually plays the game.
I know she is visiting friends over the weekend, which explains her low activity after the early storm, but I expect more from town fonti.

Good starting point for now ..

    ---------- Post automerged at 01:34 ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 ----------

    I like most of it.
Dislike the part where he quotes fonti liking his post and actually using two picture as a response.

It is too much. I don't remember him really mentioning fonti outside of that. Not that he needs to, she is not really someone everyone should have an early read on .. but it just feels wrong.

Not even sure which way. buddying? Could be. Could be an innocent jab as well. It just feels a bit off compared to the rest of the post.

    ---------- Post automerged at 01:50 ---------- Previous post was at 01:34 ----------

Ohy eah this is somewhat bad too.

What do you think here Newcomb?
I get the flashback part, the three of us reigned supreme in star wars mini mafia. Everything else is somewhat wrong?!

You said Rubicon/Jari could be w/w from your point of view, which means it is unlikely to be very good (3 towns on 1 scum).
    Very bad?
What does that even mean? Do you think it likely for a possible team of 3 to have 2-3 people shading Jari without building actual pressure?

Your thoughts here seem all over the place. Somehow glanced over it in my first read.
You are pretty good with words normally, but the "Either" is just all kinds of wrong, because those people and their placement could still be at least 12 different shades of grey from what you have said up until now.

This is a weird way to phrase the question.
I am rpetty sure you know that I don't think of fonti as a bad mechanics player in general.
Even in my original statement I used the word "here" to make clear that in this single instance her mechanical reasoning was lacking.

Add to that the fact that it was an early vote to elect because I liked her spirit at the time and wanted to see more.
Your comment has some passive aggressiveness in it. Discrediting me by questioning something that you already should know is bullsh*t.
And I should know, I am the uncrowned king of passive aggressive bitchfighting.

Plus I would do it myself, but I have another game starting on monday, which means I need to be somewhat townfirmed by then so I can start slacking just a little bit (or at least have the option to be slightly less active).
That is not the best position to go for a role that needs to actually triple check their descisions and be smart about
    a. their townreads and
    b. mechanics

Normally the two things I am strongest at, but I don't want to risk not giving them the attention they need.
I will do it for sure, if I am elected. Just won't campaign for it as others do.

    ---------- Post automerged at 01:57 ---------- Previous post was at 01:50 ----------

All those words and no one to talk about them.

Might go to bed soon if people don't show up :O

"very overly careful" and "superficial." That's very definitive phrasing for six words.

What makes it very overly careful? How can you tell it's superficial? How would the non-superficial version of that post be different?

As far as I can tell both of the statements above describe my view of Vira.

Seriously man, think about why people say "too scummy to be scum" is bad and whether those reasons are relevant here.

Analyzing something someone did in context based on what you expect them to do having played with them before is ... literally just how scumhunting works.

It's frustrating to explain my reasoning on something and have someone compare it to a cliche that doesn't even make sense in context.

I'm riding a similar read on Jan as I had in Mountainous. He just feels open, and like he trying propel the game.

Typhon: I liked that he seemed to be seeing the game similar to me to that point, mainly in regards to you. His post below me with his reasoning was a bit more wonky than I'd like but still.

Here’s a breakdown of what I think about your explanation:

You say you can’t read Font and you can only read Newcomb passably. As I said a bit earlier in the thread, being Neighbours with someone is useless if you can’t read them. You have to question their reads and what happens if they aren’t night-killed?

This also kind of scares me. It’s like you’re trying to get a Neighbour with pockets you can burrow in and then zip up behind you. ‘Whether they feel like I qualify’ tells me you want to be useful to someone and not the other way around. It’s okay to feel this way if you Neighbour a person you are 100% sure is town or you can read, but as you said above, Font and Newcomb don’t qualify.

A Neighbour QT is a one-on-one discussion. You’re focused solely on one person and, away from the game-thread, it helps people let down their guard. Therefore, it’s harder to lie or act natural.

The conclusion I drew is Jari is trying to find something to do and trying to appear active. It’s forced.
