It's rhetorical, but I'll take a stab anyway - this is my natural state.

No, seriously. Like, this is what I like to shoot for as a player. Notice that when I wasn't actively burying people in TH#whatever, I was chill. No, I was not always chill in SVM (understatement of the year), but I actually kinda was in a couple of places. I have a little fire in me to try and ruin people I think are lock scum, but I prefer the sort of "let's make a town circle and POE scum to death" style. I'm looking for people to add to a town circle.

Right now, I feel good about Jan and Waco. You're on your way to joining that group, although you still have a decent distance left to go, and we haven't talked much so I'm sort of interested to see how you're seeing things.

Idk. I like to talk to people, decide if I can trust them, then bounce ideas with them and sort of leverage the collective wisdom of the group and numbers to win. It makes me feel a little pocket-y because I am - it's just not the nefarious sort.

As for tom... As much fun as it seems to get that bus in, it's sorta ehh? I never really know what to do with Tom. We rarely see eye to eye on anything, so this game isn't shocking in that regard. I take issue with some of his reads both in that I disagree with them and in that I din't think they make sense together, but that's about it. That's pretty weak stuff from me, but to be perfectly honest Tom is sorta like fluff in that I don't actually have a clue of how to reliably read him.

"Either" is referring to the state of the game.

My thought process at the time was that Jarizok was my strongest scumread but he was also being scumread by a bunch of other people; that indicates we're in either a great spot or a pretty bad one. Like, if he's mafia then at the very worst mafia are heavily bussing early, which is usually always good overall. If he's town though we've either got me being personally wrong and a bunch of town being personally wrong, or me at least somewhat going along with bad arguments advocated by mafia.

I don't think I've ever played in or read a game where I thought a Tom lynch was a slam dunk. It always feels sorta like a coin flip to me.

That post is 100% about appearances. Rubicon says Vira's town for suggesting we not have a doctor, Vira responds, "No?" and then quotes the post of hers talking about "better to have a Doctor than not have it."

Everything about that post is about "the perception of Vira." It's about making sure her very basic, superficial mechanical point ("it's better to have a doctor and not doctor" is corrected entered into the record.

The non-superficial version of that post picks at your mindset for townreading her, not just "you're wrong, I said this other thing."

    Hum.

This doesn't really /feel/ like scum talking about someone they know is town?

I just feel like there would be more of an agenda or an edge; this is entirely a waffle but it tastes kind of like a town one, like Rubicon's genuinely spinning the wheels here.

---------- Post automerged at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ----------

Okay let me stop you right there.

    Couple things.

Show me where you liked Fluff's tone, specifically. What it is about the tone that you liked. Be specific.

Tell me why you think leading with mechanical discussion in a game like this is >rand to come from one alignment over the other.

---------- Post automerged at 09:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ----------

Jarizok's Miner progression feels like he's continually plucking it out of a hat and ending up on "light town with room to backtrack" like 500 different ways. That's not an evolution, that's an iteration.

#100 pinged at the time. She said I had a point, and then described a different point than the one I made.

I thought about it more and decided it's not alignment-indicative.

    This is reasonable.

Reasonable as in, you agree with me? Reasonable as in, you believe that's a real thought I had? Reasonable as in you think you had something on me but now you don't and you're going to determine my alignment some other way?

    Delve a bit, Rubicon.

---------- Post automerged at 10:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 PM ----------

    Generally agree with that.

For Typhon to be scum here and make that play he'd have to be pretty confident in his team. Think that implies probably two of fonti, you, tom, maaaybe Rubicon? Because it was early enough it couldn't really be based on who was doing well in the thread, it would have to be how Typhon perceived his team.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt since I am reading you town, and your going to bed when you posted this, but this is wrong. Superficially yes, I chose similar roles for my D2 list, but I think it's fair to say most of us can agree on a similar shortlist for that.

What was important, and I feel you must not have connected is the why that I mention.

You mention the Auction Detective x2. I agreed with you that it has immediate value, but I value it possible more than most, for reasons I feel aren't being talked about much. We have more than 2/1 more money available then the mafia. The Marketplace Owner, in addition to trying to bring out the highest town utility roles while blocking the most scum favoring ones, also needs to set a strategy that best allows town to take advantage of that disparity. This means, in addition to forcing the mafia into a bad position by favoring roles that allow town to use it's advantage in high bids (town has a 10:3 advantage over mafia in potential $500 bids), the Marketplace owner should also favor roles that have good town utility, but are unlikely to draw mafia bids to help increase the value of the town's $, and help to preserve as much as possible $ for the late game.

Which is to say. Suppose as owner I increase the odds of, and get picked my 4 choices, say cop, bulletproof, 2xtracker, 2xauction detective. Maybe this dissolves into a wine scenario, but I'd think if the mafia team is going to try and block town from getting some of these roles, the auction detective isn't at the top of that list, this potentially lower than winning bid, and leaving more town $ available

In summary, I think the marketplace owner not only should be charting the best course for town about what roles it can get, but also try to manage the game in a way that best preserves town's $ advantage.

Meh .. still phoneposting. Most likely cancelling work today. I feel like something was chewing on me all night.

Upside. I might be around. Downside. most of it on my phone.

You see waco that explanation is something I can get behind a bit more.
Most likely fine with giving you the ownership of my precious market.
Will turn around and try to sleep on it for another hour or 3.

Mmm. What would that make the team? Vira, Tom if Newcomb has actually found something, and? A lurker? Someone that's neutral on me?

I bring that up because I'm not sure that I buy that the scum strategy is to go all in on me. Like, I tend to take a lot of heat D1 in my new style, but I don't appear to ultimately be any more mislynchable than I ever have been, which is not very. If Vira is scum and Tom is scum, that means 2/3 scum are hard pushing me here. Tom literally doesn't have another scum read. Vira has talked mostly about me, and hasn't moved her vote on me since the first page.

It feels like weird angle of attack is all, although that doesn't necessarily preclude it, I guess.

I'm tired. I'm going to bed, but before I do, I'm cancelling my Typhon re-read. Even as I was writing that first part, I got a lot of "I don't get this" and "What is going on here," but not much of "and only scum would do this."

I don't like Typhon's long, rambling posts, but everything I'm disagreeing with him on isn't alignment indicative.

    Unvote.

Maybe I'll know what to do in the morning, but right now, bed.

And now I'm questioning my Typhon read. Thanks Vira.
I don't even have a backup scumread unless Newcomb's case on me is scummy in addition to wrong.
