Mmm. I don't think this really makes sense, for the same reason Koalas already pointed out.

Like, it's super easy to just say you bid 1 on anything. Someone else might've also bid one, but that doesn't mean that you didn't. If someone counterclaims Koalas and says that the 1 bid was theirs, that doesn't mean he couldn't have also made that. There s no way to know as an outsider.

So yeah. I'm all for tabling Koalas for today, but i dont think this in any way clears him.

Scum should be making sure they have their money accounted for. Bidding $1 (whether it's Koalas or his scum partner) isn't a particularly large investment from the scumteam and "where would town!Koalas money be going right now?" isn't an insanely clever question to be asking yourself from night to night.

Fair enough that I missed some follow up. I don't get the above though. Asking questions and not following up on them (because they already know the answer/don't really care) is a very common scum tell. I saw you doing this. How does that lead to the above?

Your case against me, honestly. It's not a well put together series of posts. You're concentrating on my activities on the first half of D1 which I backtracked on because they were stupid and I was overthinking things. As far as I can tell, you're ignoring anything after that point. The case is irrelevant and, as Jan said, seems like useless busywork.

By too scummy to be scummy, I mean would scum write a flawed case like that when they could concentrate on Fluff or Tammy?

I'm not sure. I don't know the way you play.

Also, thanks for the answers on the Kalas thing, guys! I'll think about it.

They are things that I'm focusing on because I was trying to reread the game (and still probably will try to work on while I'm engaging here!). As I've said before, there are certain inconsistencies in how you approached your scumread on Typhon which, in my opinion, is more than just overthinking something. Just because you backtrack on a read doesn't mean that everyone should ignore it afterwards.

Did you still plan on responding to what I brought up?

We'll have to agree to disagree here. In TH7 I always found myself nodding along with Typhon posts. This game they felt off to me. OVerall they came around though.

    Yup.

I don't see them as much inconsistent as evolving. Something in the first 100 posts tweaked her and she went from there.

    I'll admit. I'm confused here.

Just a general shift to what I felt was more TH7 content esque. Felt weird but he maintained it.

That's fair, I definitely have been. I've been chewing on it but with the whole cobalt/rubicon sequence of events it feels like we're at least a full Day's worth of content behind. More so for certain players due to various circumstances. So it doesn't exactly feel like endgame. And the fact that there's zero role information is.. ugh.

Jan isn't the towniest I've ever seen him but there's not enough paranoia for me to start going down that road.

    I'm good with Typhon.

I think I'm ready to clear Vira for mechanics stuff. Not the best reason but I honestly feel scum!her would not be posting this stuff.

    Tammy I'm null on.

fluff is just.. he's Cobalt minus the 'screw you guys I'm going home'. I'm not sure what would feel worse between losing to him or lynching him and losing because of it.

    You.. that'd be telling.

This is the essence of it. Jan finishes a thought and moves on. Early Typhon felt like he was typing to a word quota.

I was going to respond when you finished your re-read. And honestly, I think that would be better spent looking at Fluff or Tammy. We aren't lynching Kalas, and I don't think you can find the votes to lynch me.

We have two and a half hours, I think?

You're right that Tammy and Fluff are easier lynches, but I don't think anyone has provided a strong enough towncase on either you or Koalas to actually take you off the table today.

I could see that if her suspicions seemed to evolve or grow or change, but that didn't seem to be the case to me.

She started out scumreading Typhon for reasons that weren't due to the neighbor talk, then talked a bunch of neighbor talk. She then moved onto the "overexplainy" thing after you brought it up, then did a big reread and didn't push on him for any of those first two major reasons. If her read evolved, I'd expect her to go "I am scumreading Typhon but I can't really figure out why, the overexplainy thing is exactly what I was trying to say, here are some examples of it and while I'm here this and this also bothers me".

Does this make sense at all or am I just talking nonsense here?

Koalas himself pointed out that anybody else could have made that bid also. I'm not sure why as scum he wouldn't put a dollar bid on things to help support his claim of only having one dollar left.

It's very easy to apply a blanket scum tell, that usually is not a common scum tell, and not actually look at the circumstances surrounding it. And that's scummy. So far this game we've seen the wordiness scum tell, the paragraphs all equal size scum tell and the asking questions scum tell, but none of those are actual scum tells. Every now and then someone throws the asking too many questions scum tell and sometimes it's scum doing that trying to discredit town who are being too penetrating. There are some instances where asking questions and not following up comes from scum, but it's more often than not from town who get caught up in various things. In this instance, I got what I needed from later pages as often happens when replacing in.

My problem with the accusation is that it's very shallow reasoning and that's one of the scum tells I look for.

I liked Jan working through his Fonti read with Koalas here. If he were scum against Fonti town here I think that he would be less inclined to make a push like this; for one, if I were in Jan's position, it'd feel a bit cheap to take advantage of a friend's absence in this way. For two, there's a pretty strong chance that it could backfire and a wrathful fonti could return and chip away pretty solidly at Jan's towncred, which is a fairly significant risk for Jan at this point.

I think that the discussion Koalas has with Jan here makes his backoff from Typhon later make a lot of sense; Jan's reference to old games and them working through it together looks pretty genuine on his part.

---------- Post automerged at 07:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 PM ----------

Koalas reaction to Jan's Fonti suspicion is pretty strange, though.

I think Nacho can't investigate himself. That job is for everyone else.
