Lilly Potter!
Lily Potter! Why does most everyone from DLP like Lily? This question slapped me in the face today after I read the small post about Harry's respect/like/dislike of Snape in this forum. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Lily did anything that we or anyone should dislike her for (except maybe being friends with Snape=p). It's just that if you go by what we really know from canon Harry acts more like Lily than he does James. And well I don't have to point out how many posts...

Revelations on Harry Potter
I’ve begun to wonder if J.K. Rowling became extremely interested in Christianity sometime between her 5th and 7th book. I was skimming through the Book of Revelations two days ago, and I noticed something interesting. The Son of Man appears to John and says “I died, and behold I am alive for evermore; and I have the keys of Death and Hades” (Rev 2:18 ). Harry gets blasted down with a Killing Curse, but he returns from death. He also holds the Deathly Hallows, which are “keys of Death.”...

Elder wand
I dont know if this has been brought up before and would like to get it cleared up. If expelliarmus is enough for Malfoy to gain control of the elder wand from Dumbledore, then shouldnt Voldemort have won it when he used the Avada kedavra on Harry in the forest? Feel free to correct me on this, it's kinda confusing.

Worst Scene
Working with the 'Best Scene' thread, this is where you can list your most hated scenes in the series. This'll be fun, having seen the various rants on this site over the last two years. Some of them were beauties. As for mine? Apart from the epilogue and the make-out session in HBP with Harry and Ginny, I'd have to say... ...any scene in which Ginny said the word, "Phlegm," Talk about stupid. It just showed she was a jealous cow, which I don't think JKR was actually aiming to achieve,...

Wand Problem...
Hey, I was re-reading OoTP for the fic I'm writing and something came up that seemed really off considering the new info on wands we go from DH. During the DA sessions they practiced stunning and disarming eachother. This seems to be quite the crappy idea if you look at it from a wand perspective. I remember Hermione losing her wand to Neville once and I'm sure Luna disarmed someone. Would that mean they can now use their wands just as effectively as their own? Aekiel

Luna/Harry???
I'm not sure if I was the only one that caught the obscure Harry/Lune references in a couple parts of Death Hallows. While I have always been a fan of the ship, never before the book has JKR ever made even the slight emphasis that Harry had anymore feelings for Luna then platonic friendship. ----------------- Scene from Death Hallows, pg. 149... "That's her," he said pointing at Luna, who was still dancing alone, waving her arms around her head like someone attempting to beat off midges....

Hermione the idiot?
Now, I've noticed people complaining that Hermione could do pretty much anything in the books. That she stood a better chance against Voldemort than Harry did without his deux-ex machina. Well, I'm just pointing out that Hermione was one of the major reasons they didn't get anywhere early on. Lets look at it subjectively (and I think I may miss one or two things here): 1) She denied a horcrux could be at Hogwarts. Repeatedly. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I mean come on!...

AK rebound? Lily's Love?
I don't know if I missed something in the book and I don't know if there is already a thread about this but the one question I never felt was answered was whether it was truly Lily's love that saved Harry when he was a baby. We know that the killing curse will rebound because the Elder Wand won't kill its master but did Lily Potter actually make a shield of love? I don't know if that was ever clarified in DH.

Master of Death
So, it turns out that Master of Death simply means the wisdom to be able to accpt your own death. So really, being Master of Death comes first, and then the Hallows follow. As Harry showed, the Hallows only accept a Master of Death as their true master. Though at first this seems like a cop out, from one angle it makes the ending more satisfactory. Before, it seemed that Harry won on a technicality: he just happened to have disarmed Malfoy in the past, which made him the master of the...

JK Rowling on Spoilers
She said, "I could try and be kind of reasonable about it and say -- well, I suppose the positive spin on it would be, 'Well, look how popular it got that it attracted that kind of madness.' But the truth is that after seventeen years of working that hard over that particularly tumultuous period in my life, it felt really bad and I didn't -- I just didn't want that to happen. "And I, frankly, don't give a damn about the people who would say, 'Well, you know, she's protecting royalties.'...

JK Rowling Web Interview
J.K. Rowling: I'm here and I can't wait! Bring on the questions! Leaky Cauldron: What, if anything, did the wizarding world learn, and how did society change, as a direct result of the war with voldemort? (i.E., not as a result of harry, ron and hermione's future careers.) J.K. Rowling: The Ministry of Magic was de-corrupted, and with Kingsley at the helm the discrimination that was always latent there was eradicated. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny et al would of course play a significant...

Sexy Hallows
"Uncley, uncley, tell us a story before going to bed, pleeeaz!" Old Rev. Albus Severus Potter, also known as "Big P" or "Dirty Al", caressed his tobacco stained beard, gave an amused fatherly look to his three scantily-clad-barely-legal goddaughters and started his tale... "So, yeah... Once upon a time, three sisters wanted to cross a river, yadayada, Goddess of Sex appeared, yadayada, you are three cool sexy bints, give you a present each, yadayada... ta-dah... THE THREE SEXY HALLOWS!!!"...

Neville and the sword
Regarding the miraculous appearance of the sword near the end of DH is both a nice touch and bad move by JK. Neville has probably been the only character that JK has developed gradually over the series. Neville starts out as a wimp and loser in PS but even then he starts to show signs of why he was sent to the house of the brave. His growth starts to increase rapidly in OOTP, along with Ginny, but unlike the redhead whore his development is real and believeable especially when he...

The Taboo
Does anyone besides me think it was pretty stupid for the ministry under Voldemort's control to put the Taboo on Voldemort's name? Any underground organization with enough spite could have used it fairly effectively to kill off quite a number of death eaters and death-eater sympathizers: Coordinate an `ambush` wherein teams of Order members, or other people on the run all hide using muggle means (the Taboo may cancle out a disillusionment charm, but it won't make a pile of leaves fly...

Benefits of the Elder Wand
Well, now that we know that there is a wand that is stronger than God himself ;) what kind of powers do you think it gives a wizard? Does it give his spells more power, make it easier to use magic, the ability to talk to monkey's? So yeah, come up with some ideas with what the Elder Wand can do. You can be serious or make stuff up.

Pidgin-parseltongue
I don't think this post is especially worthy of s&p or mature rating, but if it is, my apologies, please mods be so kind of moving it to the relevant subforum. According to the latest plotshittic developments, it seems that parseltongue is just a phonetic ability (which means you can learn it comfortably in ten easy lessons while you are stuck in your car in a traffic jam if you use Potent Professor Potter's series of tapes or CDs, that include your own shorter-than-ten-inches garden...

Pros and Cons of DH
Just finished the book, not too happy with it. Here is some reasons why... Pros: 1) Dumbledore's history was intriguing. I think that after this some people sorta owe an apology to those manipulative!Dumbledore fans that they blasted. 2) Lupin telling Harry he is a shitty excuse of a wizard (didn't really say that, but that's the vibes I picked up) because of his reluctance to use anything other than a disarming spell. 3) Neville is bad ass. He is the next Dumbledore :) 4)...

The issue of wands
I know this has been brought up in a dozen different threads now, but I thought we might consolidate here. This is, after all, a fairly major issue as of book 7. Many people have questioned the "ownership" of wands now in relation to disarming, duels, etc. etc. There is also the question of how Dumbledore beat Grindelwald if he had the Elder Wand. After taking a look back through book 7 and the end of 6 here's what I've come up with. How Wands Choose: At the heart of the matter a great...

Ariana Fan Club
Salvaging what good came from Deathly Hallows, Jon and I are starting the most Holy, Noble and Virtuous Ariana Fan Club (AFC for short). Our mission is to make certain Ariana Dumbledore is celebrated for her contributions to Wizarding Society. Remember, without Ariana, Dumbledore and Grindelwald would've just killed everyone and took over. Ariana parallels Harry in that regard - through dying, they've saved the world. A tragic fate for the most important character in Deathly Hallows...
