Writing Exercise Thread
Success has to do with deliberate practice. Practice must be focused, deliberate, and in an Environment where there is feedback. There are aspects of ability that are beyond our control. There may well be no Shakespeare amongst us, but with the cards that are dealt to us we can be better at what we choose to value with consistent effort. This thread is for Praxis. The intention here is to facilitate deliberative practice and incremental, effortful improvement. As much as just writing is...

I need help getting started.
Hi comrades, how are you? So I started writing a new fanfic and I have a little problem, I have no idea how to start introducing the story! What most pisses me off, is that I have the WHOLE plot already worked out in my head. But the damn introduction (the first chapters.) I don't know how to do it! Writing accents in a fiction
When writing, is it preferable to phonetically spell out accents and dialects or can I just write normally and make sure to mention that character is speaking in their own accent? Some of the popular ones are Hagrid's and Fleur's in Harry Potter if you are unsure what am I talking about. P.S. I hope this is correct place to ask this.

Writing Web Serials
In recent years, web serials have become more and more popular. Even Worm/Pact/Ward and whatnot are web serials. Leaving aside specific examples, though, I think there's an interesting discussion to be had about what the genre's conventions are, how pacing and story structure...

Just Write?
Is it Right to Just Write? Today, Vereornox, Halt and I responded to a request by Methos who was looking for a book on story-telling on Discord. We all had different perspectives on whether it was worthwhile, his looking for a book. No, sometimes and yes, respectively. I've been thinking about it for the day, and this evening I've started a fresh book. The preface dealt almost exclusively with this, and I felt it important to open it up to the wider forum. To try and get some discussion on...

Writing Resource List
I stumbled upon this a little while ago when browsing tumblr. Recently refound the link. Someone compiled a list on various topics, tools/software, world building, character development and dialogue to name a few. It might have some 404s now, but from what I remember a lot of it is useful. Here's the link. Personally, a lot of the character development stuff has helped me greatly. An example this chart has made the characters I write feel more like people, and consequently made it...
